*New Faces of the Legion - RainDelay - 09-07-2017

The Las Vegas Legion are clearly the most talent-starved team in the National Simulation Football League. Before I write any further, I will say that after this draft, they affirmatively hold that title. They were only able to select five players in the draft, most coming in the late rounds, largely due to GM @RavensFanFromOntario 's trading of many picks when the team was formed. In those five players, though, exist two diamonds in the rough, who will join Ardie Savea, Tyler Varga and the controversial None Stormblessed as the faces of the franchise.

18. LVL (via SJS) OL Wallace Stone - @Evok

This may go down as one of the most memorable picks in NSFL history, simply for the shock value on multiple occasions. NSFL Commissioner @AsylumParty announced that the Legion had selected Wallace Stone, a lineman with 50 TPE, controlled by an unfamiliar user named Eyrie, who had just two posts on the forum. Everyone was stunned. Some laughed. Some had nothing to say. Then, I noticed that this Eyrie character, who hadn't been online in over a month, had just logged on and went right to the bank, for a username change. It was then revealed that this mystery user is Evok, someone who is known for writing great pieces of media and earning tons of TPE in the SHL and GOMHL. Whether or not this was craftily handled by the Legion management, it is still a great pick, and Wallace Stone will look to anchor their line for seasons to come. Finally, Josh Bercovici can say he has at least one quality body in front of him.

41. LVL WR Connor Tanner - @Keyg_an

Skip ahead to Round 6 (yes, Round 6) for the next pick of the Las Vegas Legion. Lo and behold, it was a nice one. Connor Tanner is another relative unknown to those with no familiarity with hockey sim leagues, but also happens to be one of the most team-dedicated people I have seen in any league. Wide Receiver is not exactly in high demand across the league, but if any team could use one, it's the Legion. Further, Connor Tanner is exactly the guy they should have gotten. If he brings even close to the same level of commitment to the NSFL as he does to the SHL, then the boys in Vegas have a great fit, and someone who is poised to become an icon in the city.

Grade: A+

42. LVL (via :wraiths, via SJS) CB Tyler Grant

This is where the drop off begins. Honestly, their draft wasn't too impressive after those first two major steals. Tyler Grant is someone that was on the roster during Season 2, but hasn't really been around much. I get they wanted to keep him with the team, but there were still active players on the board at this point. In that case, the Legion messed up this one.

Grade: D

49. LVL (via SJS via LVL) OL Crith Coalrange

Coalrange is an inactive lineman who has not updated once. There wasn't much left at this point, but they could have taken a kicker such as Joseph Lombardi who would've made instant impact. Or they could've taken linebacker Rick Sanchez or Dion Jacobs, both of whom seem active enough for their draft range.

Grade: F

65. LVL DT Ash Saginaw

It was between an inactive receiver and an inactive defensive tackle. They don't need a receiver, so Saginaw was literally the only choice here. Not bad, but it's basically an arbitrary pick, so I can't even grade it.

Grade: N/A

Overall, this was a weak draft because they only had five picks, but hopefully they will hit home runs with the first two, helping their team out in the long run.

I need to admit that it was pretty funny when my player was named, just to see the reactions of the current player , either on the twitch stream, twitch chat or discord. Though i know a lot of user don't know me around here, i'll pretty much make them regret to have laugh at this pick Wink

Welcome to the league Smile We were taking you fourth round if you slipped past Las Vegas since as far as I know we were the only two teams who knew who you were.
