First and foremost this is an opinion piece, emphasis on the word opinion. If you don’t agree, feel free to comment, but please do so in a subdued manner. I’m not here to argue, just to state my opinion.

As many of you have probably heard by now, word has come from the head office that Logan Noble will be suspended, after he was caught cheating and boosting his TPE total. To be exact, he added 73 unearned TPE, and covered his tracks by abusing his commissioner powers. But the question I want to ask is was Logan Noble’s suspension enough of a punishment? I’m going to go through each punishment one by one and put in my thoughts on the manner.

1. Two week full-ban from the site:
To me this is ridiculous. Two weeks? That’s it? This guy gamed the entire league, completely abusing his powers entrusted to him, and his ban from the site is two weeks? Call me crazy, but I don’t think that kind of a ban is enough to stop someone from coming back and trying the same thing. Apparently he has a reputation of doing this, so for me the question is why are we even letting him back in the first place. I think most people would agree with me that we don’t want people like that on the site. However, if you can’t ban him for life, I sure think that a ban of longer than two weeks would be appropriate.

2. Logan Noble Suspended for entirety of season 3
I want to start by saying that I get this. We can’t penalize the Yeti for something that they had no idea was going on, and had no control over. I’m torn because while I don’t want the Yeti to just get completely screwed over, I also don’t want a cancer like that in the league. It ruins the site’s entire reputation. I think a solution could be found to this problem, but again, I think the league went a little too soft with only suspending him a season

3. $10,000,000 Fine
Money is relatively easy to come by. While not a huge blow, it is still sufficient in my opinion. A required hit to a team’s cap that takes him would be interesting, but probably unfair to the team. So with this punishment, I can stand by it.

4. 73 TPE penalty
I think the league really could have come out here and put their foot down to really discourage cheating. Just taking away the “unearned” TPE is not enough for me here. While on first glance that’s what the fair thing to do with be, if you think in the bigger picture here, it would favor a harsher punishment. Taking away the unearned TPE is enough to say “don’t get caught”, taking away a significant amount would change the message to “don’t cheat”. It comes down to what the league wants. A league where you’re just discouraged from getting caught, or a league where you know if you cheat it will set you and your player back significantly.

5. Banned from all league jobs until season 8
I don’t know why there isn’t just a lifetime ban in this department. If you’re going to let him back to the site, why even risk giving him the keys to the kingdom again? He’s a proven cheater, and if you want to forgive him that’s fine, by all means I think we should at some point. But I don’t feel that in any situation this risk would be worth it

Again, I have really come to love this league, and something like this unfortunately tarnishes all of our reputations. I think a harder stance would be necessary just to deter this kind of behavior, and so that we can all know that we are on a safe and fair playing field with each other. This ruling does not in any sense give me much confidence that people would be discouraged from trying to game the system again. Thats my two cents, let me know what you guys think. And please keep it civil, discussions are nice, arguments are not. Thanks for reading.

Man, you nailed it right here:

This is where I am torn. Their GMs are BRAND NEW. We know they weren't complicit or even aware. Basically, I think the punishment was too soft on Noble, but too harsh on the team.

I think I would have let him play, BUT I think the penalty should be 146 TPE, double what he illegally gained, and the money.

I agree, but unfortunately I think there's no way around it. If a real team's player did something like shoot somebody and get arrested, then it sucks for the team but they put their faith in that player and the player didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

I think its unavoidable that the Yeti would get damaged even though they had nothing to do with the situation. Just chose the wrong horse to back I guess.

Damn, the only option for being okay with it is "it's perfect"? How about a "Yeah it's good enough but I don't care all that much when does the season start" option?

I wish the TPE punishment was harsher, and I would ban him from any league job ever, he cheated and was caught twice in the SHL, and now here too. It's getting ridiculous.

Just curious, what did he do in the SHL? This is my first sim league so I'm not familiar with the history of other ones

For all of you saying the TPE punishment should be harsher, remember that on top of him losing 73 TPE he also cannot earn any TPE whilst banned. So effectively this turns into a lot more than 73.

Each week has:

5TPE Training
2TPE Activity Check
2TPE Weekend PT
3TPE Weekly PT
~8TPE Weekly Game Predictions (assuming 5 games per week & 1.5 TPE per prediction on avg)

20 TPE x2 Weeks. = 40 TPE + 73 TPE = 113 TPE

+Seasonal Milestones (~5TPE)

This is assuming his player doesn't get other seasonal S3 TPE such as Season Predictions, Draft Predictions, Awards Predictions, etc...

Point is, 73 TPE isn't much on it's own but losing a whole season's worth of TPE on top of that. this quickly racks up to 150+ TPE lost.

Personally I think he should not be able to hold any job on this site ever. And not just until S8.

Not a single person saying it was too harsh so far, 9 saying it was adequate and 22 think it wasnt harsh enough. People are making a clear statement to the league that this cant be accepted and that maybe the punishment wasnt bad enough yet.

what makes it worse, is he admitted to it in discord after the fact and no remorse was shown.
