*Analyzing LVL's S2 Offseason - Daybe - 09-23-2017

Hello, I am Advans S. Tistics, your favorite reporter! I am here to analyze what went wrong with the Legion’s plan of contending immediately as an expansion franchise. I will be going over their every trade and see if it was beneficial or not to the Legion.

7/6/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
Gabriel Tenzini

Baltimore receives:
S2 5th round pick

Wow, HENDRIX has to be happy about this trade. In exchange for a sub-100 TPE tight end they get back the #34 pick in S2. This pick became a 200 TPE player, as the S2 draft was extremely deep. The trade was a definite win for the Hawks, and the Legion are trying to move on from Tenzini, drafting tight end Connor Tanner in S3.

7/7/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
WR - RFFO Mademe

San Jose receives:
S2 7th round pick

While giving up a nonfactor in Mademe, the Cats received the #50 pick in the S2 draft, which became Christian Adams, who is a decent quarterback about to hit 200 TPE. While QB is not a position of high demand, the Cats made the right choice, seeing that Ethan Hunt’s loyalty was in question back then and still is. If Hunt decides to leave the team, Adams is ready to fill in.

7/7/17:
Code:
Yellowknife receives:
S2 1st round pick
S2 2nd round pick
S2 4th round pick
S3 2nd Round pick
Jonathan Shaloiko

Las Vegas receives:
D'Brickshaw Ferguson
Sinjin Flimjollywop
Alexander LeClaire
Mark Ramrio
S2 6th round pick

This trade was another loss for the Legion. While not as lopsided as other trades, say the Stormblessed trade, they gave up the #2 pick and the #9 pick and the #25 pick in the S2 draft, as well as the #9 pick in the S3 draft. Plus, both Ferguson and Flimjollywop have gone inactive, so essentially, the Legion are receiving two 100 TPE inactives as well as one 300 TPE active and one 400 TPE active for four top 25 picks, including three top 10.

7/18/17:
Code:
San Jose receives:
S2 8th round pick

Las Vegas receives:
Rights to Vick Bowers Jr

Another pick thrown away by the Legion. This trade would have been better for the Legion if Vick Bowers Jr. actually signed with Las Vegas, but in the end it doesn’t really matter, seeing that Bowers Jr. retired a season after signing with the Orange County Otters in free agency. The big part of this trade is the S2 draft pick, as Denzel Diaz is waiting in the wings behind Jack Durden, who is inactive, for his shot to play. Diaz is in the mid 100s TPE wise.

7/10/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
Tim Tebow

San Jose receives:
S2 6th round pick (via YKW)
S3 7th round pick

In this trade the Legion get one 90 TPE offensive lineman, and in return give up the #45 pick in the draft (eventually was James Wright, a 100+ TPE linebacker who’s semi-active) and the #49 pick in the S3 draft (eventually became Crith Coalrange, an 80 TPE inactive offensive lineman). So they basically gave up a 100 TPE linebacker and an 80 TPE offensive lineman for one 90 TPE offensive lineman. Terrible return in this trade, although it is not the worst of all of the trades they made.

7/10/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
Stormblessed
Brady Stropko
Isaiah Rashad

Arizona receives:
S3 1st round pick
S4 1st round pick
S4 3rd round pick

Wow, talk about a disaster. The Legion give up an eventual #1 overall pick, likely another one, and a high third round pick for three inactives (Stormblessed hasn’t logged on in two weeks). So essentially, the Legion are getting one 300 TPE player and 2 100 TPE players for two top 3 picks and one third round pick. This is definitely the worst move the Legion made all offseason last year, and definitely one they wish they could have back.

7/13/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
Saggitaruitt Jefferspin
Jordan Weal

Philadelphia receives:
S3 third round pick
S3 fifth round pick

Another disappointing trade from the Legion. They gave up the #17 pick and #33 pick for two low TPE offensive linemen. What’s the point of getting offensive linemen if they’re only a small bit better than a bot? Surely these draft picks could be used to pick up some active, team-friendly offensive linemen instead of two players who have shown very little activity. With those picks, the Liberty got an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman, both who are near 100 TPE.

7/13/17:
Code:
Philadelphia receives:
Arby Krimlaw
Romeo DeVitt

Las Vegas receives:
Vinny Cox
Jack Stats

This was one of the few trades that the Legion made in the S2 offseason. They give up a 120 TPE linebacker and a retired player for a 200 TPE DT and an inactive running back. This trade definitely was a great move from the Legion, as Vinny Cox made the S2 pro bowl for the ASFC along with fellow tackle Mark Ramrio. Cox has proven to be a force up front, and is earning TPE slowly but surely.

7/16/17:
Code:
San Jose receives:
Josh Cameron
S3 8th round pick

Las Vegas receives:
S3 3rd round pick

The Legion got the better end of this trade for the second time. Giving up a 100 TPE defensive tackle who’s inactive and an extremely low pick for a high pick is great. The third round pick turned out to be an offensive lineman named Wallace Stone, who is well-known throughout other leagues. The Legion get a great young player for one of their biggest needs and give up barely anything.

7/16/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
S3 3rd round pick
S2 7th round pick

Arizona receives:
Isaiah Rashad

Another solid trade from Las Vegas. By giving up an inactive, they got the #24 pick in S3 and the #56 pick in S2. While their S2 draftee, Johnny Rocket has gone inactive and is now a member of the Philadelphia Liberty, they got good value from the #24 pick while only giving up a relatively low TPE safety who is currently in the DSFL. Great job from the Legion.

7/20/17:
Code:
Las Vegas receives:
Ardie Savea

Orange County receives:
D’Brickshaw Ferguson
S3 4th round draft pick

This move has been one of the biggest moves shaping the franchise of the Legion. Even before Savea’s breakout, he was a second round pick and an active one. He played well in the prospect games, so it made no sense whatsoever for the Otters to trade him away. The Otters were planning to run a backfield by committee anyway. Savea has turned out to be the Legion co-GM and is surpassing the 300 TPE mark. And while that Otters draft pick turned out to be J.D. Boom, a solid defensive end, the Legion still clearly win the trade.

The Orange County trade was basically in good faith for me so that Ardie could be a bigger part of an offense than what the Otters could provide at that time. I'm very grateful for them making that possible.
Great article though I'd be interested in what you thought of the S2-S3 offseason moves.
