*Week 5 Power Rankings - tlk742 - 09-26-2017 We’re going hot into the regular season. Power rankings indicate that if two teams face off with all things neutral, the higher team should win, does that happen For the record, the index has the Outlaws as #1. 1. ![]() Ok there’s really nothing to say about the Outlaws that hasn’t been said already. One interesting thing to note, no receiver got over 100 yards in the game against Orange County. One other thing to note, they actually put up fewer yards than the Otters in the air. No receiver that towers above the competition in the Arizona. There is no Garden, Jackson, Phelps or LeClair. There’s no reason to believe that despite this lack of great WR, the team is still firing on all cylinders. 2. ![]() Ok and now the real test begins, with the first road game against a team projected to get more than 4 wins. Blessed did get his revenge but let’s be real, the Legion defense is lacking in the backfield. I know some Hawks fans will say I’m disrespecting them, but there’s still a real reason believe that the team is more paper tiger than actual tiger. While it’s true they have given up the second fewest points to any team, the list of Rove, Pierno and Berc who make up 4 of the 5 games doesn’t necessarily inspire fear into defenses. 3. ![]() The Sabercats now sit with the #2 ASFC Seed. The team dropped a 40 burger against the Yeti. 4 touchdowns, and a block from Smallwood which gave Weston the yardage he needed to go the distance and get the yardage the team needed for this dominant display. Whether San Jose can keep this momentum going will be tested when Baltimore comes to town. But it’s all good in #MrRodgersSaberhood where the Sabercats have the 3rd best percentage of any team. 4. ![]() There’s a lot to like from the loss. The Orange County Otters put a great show, Boss did not through his signature pick against the Outlaws and the team overall kept a game close. Without the three fumbles, which was hard to come back from, the Otters may have very well beaten the currently undefeated Outlaws. 5. ![]() Yikes. That loss will sting. With the new co-GM hire, the team will have a chance to look at their defense. I will give you a clue, it’s the defense against the pass. I can go in depth about this in another article, but Rove kept the tradition of the Wraiths defense allowing the highest QB rating of any team in the league. Defense wins championships they say, and while they may be putting up a positive point differential this year, they’re banking on their offense winning every shootout, and clearly it hasn’t happened as much for this high power offense as the teammates would have hoped. 6. ![]() I don’t want to give the Liberty the move up just yet. The home field advantage is still strong, but the Liberty turned some heads and are making strides. What comes next for this team? Well the tie in San Jose means that the Liberty could be a dark horse for the playoffs if all the planets align. 7. ![]() Does anyone root for the hapless Legion anymore? Or are they just waiting for the season to end. 8. ![]() Does anyone root for the hapless Yeti anymore? Or are they just waiting for the season to end. Code: 618 Words GRADED *Week 5 Power Rankings - Archon - 09-26-2017 I like how the Wraiths easily defeated Orange County but they're still ranked higher than us. These power rankings are #FakeNews. *Week 5 Power Rankings - tlk742 - 09-26-2017 (09-26-2017, 10:20 PM)Archon Wrote:I like how the Wraiths easily defeated Orange County but they're still ranked higher than us. These power rankings are #FakeNews.Ok I'm gonna explain this, because it's the same reason I don't have the Liberty above you. A win at home is waaaaaay less significant than a win on the road. Homefield advantage is a huge factor in this sim, like 1:4 chance for a road win, all thing equal. Beating the Otters at home isn't that significant, when you beat them in Orange County, lemme know. *Week 5 Power Rankings - iamslm22 - 09-26-2017 Just throwing it out there that I have no arguments about us being 2nd. I think it's a very fair ranking. Now the SaberCats over the Otters and Wraiths? Idk about that. *Week 5 Power Rankings - tlk742 - 09-26-2017 (09-26-2017, 10:38 PM)iamslm22 Wrote:Just throwing it out there that I have no arguments about us being 2nd. While the Sabercats have not had a tough opponent yet, we got you this week and no team has had more turnovers throughout the season thus far than the Sabercats. *Week 5 Power Rankings - iamslm22 - 09-26-2017 (09-26-2017, 10:50 PM)tlk742 Wrote:One of those three teams has a winning record. Yea I think the game in San Jose will be tough. You guys are definitely better than last year, and we lost in San Jose last year. *Week 5 Power Rankings - ADwyer87 - 09-27-2017 I mean, we didnt have a receiver over 100 yards. but we had a receiver with 96 yards and a TD. so i mean.... *Week 5 Power Rankings - ADwyer87 - 09-27-2017 Also, Arizona was the team with the 3 fumbles, not OCO *Week 5 Power Rankings - ADwyer87 - 09-27-2017 (09-26-2017, 09:23 PM)tlk742 Wrote:Ok I'm gonna explain this, because it's the same reason I don't have the Liberty above you. Baltimore has faced the Yeti once and the Legion twice, and only barely beat the Wraiths and the Liberty at home. Meanwhile the Sabercats only loss is against the Outlaws in Arizona. Without a doubt San Jose should be ranked higher than the Hawks on this list and you will see what happens when they play. The Hawks are a paper tiger and can well expect to go on a significant losing streak. |
