The NSFL has a problem. Players who switch positions are being penalized in the simulation despite the league not providing information that players who switch positions would be penalized for it. When a player switches positions in the sim, they get stuck with a “Original Position XX” flag. For instance at the beginning of S2 I switched from WR to S, and now have a “Original Position WR” flag. The worst part is that this affects more than just players who actually switched positions. If a player is created in the sim instead of imported, they are always marked as a “Original Position QB” regardless of what position they are created with. This means players like Fox North, despite never being a QB, is marked as a “Original Position QB”. Now I know what you’re saying, this is no big deal, however test simulations prove it is a HUGE deal.
Ricky Maddox, former GOAT TE and now World’s Most Kind of Okay DE, is marked as a “Original Position TE”. He has attributes similar to reigning league MVP Jayce Tuck, but in S3 has been unable to produce similar stats to Tuck. So the league’s head office ran some test sims, and wouldn’t you know it, Maddox performed better when created as a natural DE. How much better? Well he averaged about 1 more sack and 1 more TFL per game. That would be 14 sacks and 14 TFLs over the course a season. If you added 7 sacks and TFLs to his current year stats, he would have 13 sacks and 7 TFLs. Those stats would be good for 3rd in the league in sacks and 5th in TFLs. Instead of being recognized as one of the best DEs in the league, he gets lost amongst the other middling defensive linemen with 6 sacks like Bert Metas.
In addition to the sims proving the statistical difference, there is even more damning evidence. DDSPF18 introduced player positional ratings. So each player is graded on a scale from 0 - 100 at each position. If you import our current roster in DDSPF18, each player only has skill at their former position and not their current position. For instance, Lincoln Jefferson is rated a 33 at WR and an 18 at TE, but a 0 at FS and SS. The fact that these skills imported directly from our league file proves that they are present in DDSPF16 despite not being visible.
So if it as affecting Maddox to such a severe degree we can safely assume it is affecting all “Original Position XX” players. Almost all offensive lineman are “Original Position (another OL position) so I am skipping them. However, here is a list of the rest of the “Original Position XX” players:

This penalty is affecting at least 50 current NSFL players. It appears to have a greater effect on the player, the greater the position change too. For instance, going from DT to DE, does not have a big effect, however going from QB to K or from TE to DE can be devastating to your player’s potential.

Some of these players, such as Hendrix on the Hawks, went through the actual position change process though, and as such, should not be on this list.

Why shouldn't they be included? I don't think anyone who switched positions through the actual process thought their player would be penalized because of the switch.

I position changed from QB to WR when it was penalty free. Or at least it should've been since it was pre-S1 regular season.

Big if true.
The penalty isn't imposed by the league, it is the inner workings of the sim. Theyd have to recreate all these players with their actual current position to remove the sim's imposed penalty.

Yeah this came into the light when DDSPF18 came out.
I have complete faith that the HO is looking into this and will figure out what to do about it, because honestly it's kinda league-breaking in my opinion. Nothing that can't be fixed though
