* Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - iamslm22 - 09-29-2017 Hey everyone it's James McNulty here on Baltimore Beat talking about why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in the NSFL so far this season. There's been a bunch of talk about how Mike Boss and Chris Orosz are incredible (and these guys are great) but Kyubee is having a season for the ages. Let's first discuss the QBs in the league who have no shot at the top spot. Bercovici of the Las Vegas Legion, Pierno of the Colorado Yeti and Rove of the Philly Liberty are guys that have literally zero claim. Berc has thrown only 5 TDs for 11 picks. His supporting cast is not amazing, but look no further than None Stormblessed and how he's done in Baltimore than to see how crappy Berc had been. Look up Stormblessed and his stats this season, you'll see how much being on Bercs team can hurt. Pierno barely is worth a sentence. He wasn't ready for the NSFL and has been god awful. 3 TDs and 20 picks. That's just trash. Rove has been better but barely. 6 TDs and 14 picks. Not good for a team that had playoff aspirations heading into the season. You have to wonder that if they had a better QB where they would be this season. After eliminating these three one QB has stats that just don't put him in the upper half. Hunt in San Jose is last of these QBs in Yards, TDs, completion percentage and tied for most picked thrown. Just not at the caliber of these other QBs. The next four of Scrub Kyubee, King Bronko, Chris Orosz and Mike Boss have all been great in the first half, but this writer would argue for Kyubee having the best season. Boss has basically been Drew Brees this season, he's been awesome. Leading the league in Yards, TDs and YPA he's got a great chance to win offensive player of the year. King Bronko and Chris Orosz have also been really good, and you could write an article in favor of them. But there are some big reasons why Kyubee deserves the most credit. For the biggest reasons let's look at the receivers. Arizona has three active wide outs and an active Tight End. Yellowknife has the best receiver in the league and another star with Garden and Cook. While the Otters have arguably the best tight end in the league in George Wright Jr as well as the best WR tandem in the league. It is obvious that these QBs have the three most friendly environments for QBs. The Hawks meanwhile have a single active skill position player. Yes, that might seem crazy, but only Rookie Trey Willie is active. The best player on the Hawks skill positions is a Rookie. Darlane Farlane has been very good, but he's not been what he was last year. Cooper Christmas is serviceable but not the Pro Bowl level player he once was. Matthew Vincent is retiring and not the factor he once seemed like he would be. The Hawks have no Tight Ends and next up is None Stormblessed. Now no one argue with his talent level, but he is certainly a controversial figure. Everyone said that he would bust in Baltimore and would not be much better than he was in Las Vegas. In Vegas storm went through games with only a catch or two. In Baltimore he is way more involved in the offense, even though his effort is unchanged. His statistical improvements have to at least be partially credited to Scrub Kyubee. He's been great spreading the ball around and really deserves credit. Now the less than stellar supporting cast is not the only reason for Scrubs case. Obviously if he wasn't having an awesome statistical season, he wouldn't be up there in this conversation. Let's dig into those stats. Kyubee is second in the league in completion percentage (behind Boss), second in Yards per attempt (also behind Boss), second least picks (behind Orosz), and second in passer rating (Behind Boss). Obviously when looking at just the stats, Mike Boss looks like the pick for top QB. He's been incredible, but again we have to turn to the supporting cast. At every level, Offensive Line, Running Back, Wide Receiver and Tight End the Otters have the advantage. The Hawks and Otters don't matchup evenly on offense, yet Kyubee is nearly keeping pace with Mike Boss in these stats. Agree? Disagree? Let us know! Leave a comment. 749 (ready for grading). * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - RedCydranth - 09-29-2017 I see what you're trying to do, and I do think Kyubee is a good QB. But to say he's better than Boss would be a stretch. You're saying that he's good because he has Phelps, Westfield and Wright. But I think you can make the case that Boss makes them better than who they'd be if they had a lesser QB. My reasoning? Your very own None Stormblessed. Look at his first 4 games as a Legion this season. Rec/Yds/TDs Week 1: 3/61/0 Week 2: 0/0/0 Week 3: 4/31/0 Week 4: 1/28/0 Now look at weeks 5-7 Week 5: 5/116/2 Week 6: 5/111/0 Week 7: 4/57/0 He got an upgrade at QB and so his stats got better. Now let's look at Scrub's stat lines all 7 weeks. Yds/TDs/INTs Week 1: 205/2/1 Week 2: 221/2/0 Week 3: 273/3/0 Week 4: 243/1/0 Week 5: 248/2/1 <- Where Stormblessed joined the team Week 6: 357/0/1 Week 7: 175/1/0 There's not a considerable change to Kyubee's overall performance. So, I can derive from this data that Stormblessed did not make Kyubee any better, but the opposite, that Kyubee made Stormblessed better. So, if this evidence shows it is the QB who improves the play of their WRs, then that means Boss is the one responsible for Westfield and Phelps's domination, not the other way around as your article seems to imply. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - timeconsumer - 09-29-2017 Interesting argument. But given that this is a sim league and not real football we can be pretty objective about this. Go compare their Arm/Acc/Int and let me know what you see. Because to me it's pretty obvious Boss is the top QB in the league. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - 37thchamber - 09-29-2017 (09-29-2017, 11:10 AM)RedCydranth Wrote:My reasoning? Your very own None Stormblessed. Look at his first 4 games as a Legion this season. That can be explained by strategic changes, I believe. If you look at how many times Stormblessed was targeted in each of these games, it would be much clearer, I think. (EDIT: Admittedly I haven't tested that theory, I'm just going by what I remember seeing in the week 2 game) Look at his time with the legion and calculate YPC per game and extrapolate the stats to match the 5 catches per game he seems to be (roughly) getting with the Hawks. 3/61 -> 20.3 YPC -> 5/102 4/31 -> 7.75 YPC -> 5/39 1/28 -> 28.0 YPC -> 5/140 These numbers are largely comparable to his Hawks statlines of 5/116, 5/111 and 4/57 That said, Kyubee's stats seem pretty consistent regardless of who he throws to, so it's not clear that Boss having better stats is due to him having superior targets. Most likely it's just that he has better attributes in the sim. Interesting stuff anyway. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - iamslm22 - 09-29-2017 (09-29-2017, 07:20 AM)timeconsumer Wrote:Interesting argument. I think it's more fun though to make these arguments based off of stats and things like that, than just looking at who is better rated in categories. Boss is definitely more active, I was just making the argument that season what Kyubee has done is more impressive given his supporting cast. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - iamslm22 - 09-29-2017 (09-29-2017, 05:10 AM)RedCydranth Wrote:I see what you're trying to do, and I do think Kyubee is a good QB. Bailey Cook's numbers did not get better going from Hunt to Orosz, however he went from being the number 1 option to the number 2 option. Maybe you're right that Boss is making those guys better though, it's super difficult to separate. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - Oles - 09-29-2017 So I remember a time where you argued that the cast around someone didn't matter, if they were good enough they would be able to do well in a bad situation. I still don't see a correlation when looking at their stats this year. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - timeconsumer - 09-29-2017 Let's just all agree that Pierno is the best QB and move on. * Why Scrub Kyubee is the best QB in S3 - HENDRIX - 09-29-2017 (09-29-2017, 05:19 PM)timeconsumer Wrote:Let's just all agree that Pierno is the best QB and move on.Peyton Manning led the league in INTs his rookie year too. |
