Deadline Saturday, Oct 14th, 11:59 PM PST (S3) - PT #5 - Paying the Bills - cosbornballboy - 10-09-2017 What do the Hawks players do in the offseason? Avon Blocksdale, Owen Taylor, and Ricardo Sandoval in the offseason all head out to local high schools to help teach and mentor young linemen who need that motivation and boost. They have already reached out to multiple high schools, many of which are ecstatic at the offer. Archbishop Spalding One of the top schools in the area, Archbishop Spalding was overjoyed at the prospect of three NSFL linemen coming to coach their boys in the offseason. Ricardo Sandoval is personal friends with the coach and knows this may be what they need to win the Maryland state championship next year. Mount Saint Joseph Mount Saint Joseph is always a great team, but one of their main weak spots is the OL and DL. Blocksdale, Taylor, and Sandoval have all said this is the team they want to help the most, as the linemen are the only piece of the puzzle consistently missing. Milford Mill Finally, they will visit Milford Mill, who went 4 and 6 last season. This is a team who was not good, and are losing many of their best players who were the only thing preventing this team from a major breakdown. Many of their starting linemen are freshmen and sophomores, and the school's coaches are hoping this coaching and mentorship will steer these players in the right direction with the right attitude. (S3) - PT #5 - Paying the Bills - 124715 - 10-09-2017 What exactly does Paul DiMirio do in the offseason? It turns out that Paul actually has a varied and diverse life outside of football. He has a wife and two kids, and he works as a weather forecaster. His forecasts are quite good, and he has a positive reputation around the community. However, an interesting mishap occurred when DiMirio was using a baton to indicate things on the greenscreened weather map. He, understandably, dropped the baton, causing the projector's cord to snap, and revealing the plain green curtain behind him. Mildly surprised, Paul turned towards the screen and said a famous line, "Well, it looks like some light rain today!" Paul also works hard at food shelters in the poorer parts of Philadelphia. Having once depended on such shelters, Paul feels a need to give back to the community. He cooks meals, organizes supplies, and helps customers all day long. Sometimes, he will help unloading cans of food from trucks. He is careful to bring strong mesh bags, as he painfully remembers the time he dropped several cans on the asphalt and watched them burst, ruined. DiMirio is a great football player, but he gives back to the community big-time. Code: 200 even! (S3) - PT #5 - Paying the Bills - 7hawk77 - 10-09-2017 Dan is pretty focused on football, but he's lucky because he doesn't really need to work to earn his living anymore. His brother is very tech savvy. His brother convinced him to invest and set up a bunch of hardware to mine bitcoins very early on. This netted them a ton of bitcoins. They sold half of the coins that the two of them accumulated when the coins reached $1,000 (per coin). Because of this, him, and his brother are set for life. This makes Dan different because he's playing football for the love of the game instead of for money. However, Dan does utilize his added free time that he is allowed outside of football. He and his brother have been working on a few computer games together. Dan does most of the QA with some minor coding but only when it comes to fixing bugs. His brother does most of the major coding and design work. Dan also does all of the sound work, adding in music, sound effects and coding for those. The end result is a multiplayer version of the old sprite video games, similar to the Final Fantasy games for the Super Nintendo. They enjoy this because they grew up playing those games together and since they can remotely online with each other, it allows them to still hang out even when Dan is in San Jose. 232 words (S3) - PT #5 - Paying the Bills - Lendoris - 10-09-2017 "Hungry? I know I am. I feel like I'm always hungry. That's why Calkewlated Chambers the third will bring you Cooking with Cake. A local cooking show right here on San Jose Television. Come with me every off season and I'll share with you some of the best kept secrets of cooking in New Orleans. My ma taught me that the way to anyone's 'heart is through their stomach'. We can share recipes involving: crawfish recipes, bread pudding, king cake, jambalaya...mhhhh Getting hungry just thinking about it." Other than His cooking show which is more of a hobby than a means of living, Cal also likes to ride his bicycle and pick up cans around the neighborhoods of San Jose. He turns in these cans for recycling and gets a steady flow of cash of $50 for every 20 bags of crushed cans. Again, this is more of an environmental friendly hobby that makes Cal feel good about his city and his planet. He has also spent a million from his current season in the NSFL to invest in Solar opportunities. He believes that Solar is the future and his investments will hopefully pay off to create a greener, less polluted future. (S3) - PT #5 - Paying the Bills - Bgreene21 - 10-09-2017 What is it exactly that pays the bills for Luke Kraken? At this point in his career it's fair to say that it isn't football. Rumors have it that Luke has been seen working part time at a car wash is Massachusetts. Reportedly, Luke spends around 20 hours a week helping maintain the wash and appeasing customers. It has also been reported that Luke has been seen working at a grocery store stocking shelves when he isn't at the car wash. All this would leave you wondering just when does Luke have time to work on football? When asked in a recent interview, Luke responded by saying " I'm constantly working on football. Even when I'm on the clock at the job I'm running through scenarios and playbooks in my mind. I want to make sure that when it's my time to shine, that I'm ready to perform, and a lot of that work goes in right here when I'm stocking tissue paper." Obviously with his strength and physique, it's also apparent that a lot of work takes place at the gym and practice facilities, but it's nice to know that even when Luke isn't physically participating in the game, that his mind is always on the field. (S3) - PT #5 - Paying the Bills - PigSnout - 10-09-2017 It is known that Boss Tweed has spent his first two off-seasons focusing heavily on training his speed. However, he recently revealed how he increased his speed so effectively. It did not come from training in a gym as some might expect, but rather it came from his off-season job. During the off-season, Tweed has been working as a delivery man for Jimmy John's. You may have heard some of Jimmy John's humorous commercials about how fast they are. However, those commercials are not humorous, they are factual. Jimmy Johns expects nothing less than maximum speed from their workers. The police and the fire department only dream of having workers as fast as Jimmy John's delivery men. Not only does Jimmy John's only hire the fastest workers, they help those workers become faster by holding them to their rigorous routines. Tweed began working at Jimmy John's not only to help pay the bills, but also to help himself get in to better shape by attaining the speed of a Jimmy John's worker. Instead of driving, Tweed makes every delivery by foot in order to stay in good football condition. Some may laugh at the ridiculous sounding nature of Tweed's off-season activities, but the impact of this activities has shown in Tweed's performance on the field and have helped him pick up some extra cash in the process.
