Tonight at 5 PST the inaugural season comes to an end and one team will go down in history as the first champion. The San Antonio Marshals and Norfolk SeaWolves have had very different strategies and very different seasons.
The Marshals initially focused defense and then worked to bolster their offense while the SeaWolves started offense and then switched to defense.
The SeaWolves dominated at home and fell apart on the road. The Marshals basically looked the same no matter where they were.
The Marshals barely won a home game in the playoffs. The SeaWolves had to win on the road against the #1 team.
Here's what they have in common, though.
Both teams are used to winning the yardage battle. The SeaWolves were #1 in yards gained and yards allowed. The Marshals were #2.
Both teams have reliable running games, the Marshals being #1 in rushing yards and the SeaWolves #2.
Both teams invested in talented QBs (Christian Adams for Norfolk, Jameis Christ for San Antonio), yet have passer ratings in the 60s.
Finally, both teams worked damn hard to get to this game, and both teams are going to show up.

I think the game is gonna come to stopping the Norfolk rushing attack. If Ariel runs all over us, we're gonna be in trouble. But if we can slow him down we should be able to pull out the W.
