*The Legion of Less Suckiness - AdamS - 10-24-2017 The Las Vegas Legion are about to suck a whole lot less. Like....seriously, a significant amount less. Offensively they are poised to improve a fair amount from their ASFC worst 199 points. Just to drive home how bad it was, they score more than 20 points precisely once. Defensively, they were by far the worst team. More like...by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar. For accuracy's sake. But that's a thing of the past too. Okay, Adam. You're clearly on crack right now. The fuck? The Leigon are bad. So so very bad. They might be the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to Las Vegas. I disagree on that. A lot. I once watched a drunk man try to smoke a pencil at karaoke at a casino just off the Strip. What the hell does that have to do with any....oh right..you live in Vegas, I forgot. And who are you exactly? Not important. What is important is that you stop this madness of telling everyone the Legion are going to get so much better. It's hurting your credibility. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that credibility is a thing I shouldn't worry about after....whatever this is. Says the guy in pigtails. That seems irrelevant and a bit judgmental. But seriously. It's going to happen. I'm not saying the Legion are suddenly in Ultimus contention but they're probably about to win 6 or 7 games and they'll lose a heartbreaker or two. I have really good, well thought out reasons why I believe this. Okay. but I have reality. Look at them. Look at their sad, sad inability to do basically anything. You said yourself in that intro how awful they were on both sides of the ball. You didn't even mention the special teams. Which were also terrible. To be fair the kick returns were more mediocre than terrible. And the field goal kicker really just didn't get enough chances. Now, can I explain myself or are you just going to heckle me like a creepy disembodied voice? Words hurt, man. But fine. Go on. What's this big revelation that totally changes the fortunes of the Legion and triples their win total? Okay, let's start with the absolute biggest problem the Legion have. A terrible color scheme and logo? Spoken like someone who's never seen how fucking beige this city actually is. Or how many old military themed things there are. I mean...the Golden Knights. Fair enough. So, the worst thing about the Legion is the offensive line. By far. And the biggest news of the offseason is a revamp of the offensive line system. Literally no one is going to benefit more than the Legion. They gave up the second most sacks and quite frankly, they and Philly were way above everyone else. When that change happens, their entire offense will be lifted. Ardie Savea can get back to being an above average back instead of seeming like a really mediocre one. The pass game will benefit too. A quarterback who stays on his feet tends to do that. Couple that with an improved pass catching core featuring two people who were rookies last year. Conner Tanner will be pretty much guaranteed to vie for best Tight End and John Ross is shaping up to be a great partner for Alexandre Leclair. Plus, Ross was already that mediocre kick returner in his first year. I mean, okay. I can see what you're saying to some degree. But they're not going to be that improved. NO one's going to be terrified of the Legion offense. No, probably not. They'll put up at least 14 points more than 6 times, though. Good lord. It really was atrocious. Yeah. A team that can come in and score SOME points is a big deal because last season they were just...not that team. They'll be in the thick of a lot more games. Okay, but that defense was also awful. Ehh. Ehh? Really? Ehh? Do you need to go read your own words from the top? Okay, so here's the thing. The defense wasn't good. It was okay at the very best. But, the defense got the shaft because the offense couldn't stay on the field. Nobody ran less offensive plays last season than the Legion. Nobody but the Yeti gained less yards than the Legion. Nobody's defense spent more time on the field than the Legion's and they did it while having to defend shorter fields. And again, this was a defense that was somewhere between moderately bad and okay. So naturally they gave up more and more points as the season went on. So you think this o-line thing is going to help the defense because they won't be on the field as much. Yes. But...they also went out and actually improved the defense, too. Wyatt Fulton is a massive upgrade over anything they had in the linebacker corps and Phillippe Carter is one of the absolute best corners in the game. The team already had a fairly good defensive line, and adding a serious playmaker in each other level of the defense means big things. So they're the Hawks now all of a sudden? Well, no. They're not even the Otters. But....they're not what they were. They're going to be a lot better and they're going to have to be better less often. That's a big deal. They're not going to give up 70 points more than the next worst team. So that's my theory. The offense is going to get better at it's weakest point, it's skill position guys are already improving, and the defense upgraded smartly. I'm gonna be honest. This still seems a bit far fetched. I'm going to continue being skeptical. I mean, other teams are improving left and right. Ahem. Some more than others and some not really at all. But that's a totally different column. This one has reached it's logical conclusion. I still can't quite agree with logical and Legion winning games being used in the same sentence but okay. Looking forward to my Philippe Carter match-up. *The Legion of Less Suckiness - JuOSu - 10-24-2017 Even with the two recent Free Agents they only have about 8 or 9 active players right now. It will take more than this sadly, even if they are getting better slowly. *The Legion of Less Suckiness - JuOSu - 10-24-2017 (10-24-2017, 04:51 AM)ItsJustBarry Wrote:Heard it here first, Legion are going to be a .500 team.
