*Terrell Brister: Postdraft - tbone415 - 10-25-2017 Ash Ketchup October 24th Terrell Brister sat with his family in his childhood home in Revere, Massachusetts. He hoped to be a second round prospect, and was eyeing San Antonio’s pick, the 12th pick overall. But when that pick came, he wasn’t the name called, Luis Elmarez was called. He was disappointed, but he knew he could always fall into the third. He did fall into the 3rd. He was the 1st pick in the third round, but was not drafted to the team he hoped. Tijuana picked him, and he looked me in the eyes and said “Well i’m going to Tijuana, not San Antonio. I’ll make every team see the prospect they passed up on.” Then with the very next pick San Antonio picked Gregory Fletcher. A different cornerback, just went to the team he had hoped to go to. But like Brister said, he’s going to Tijuana, not San Antonio. Knowing him he will take this in stride and use it as motivation. The very next morning we got the draft review from DustyAtters and it said something very true about this young DSFL player “The game plan for the Luchadores is tall and scary, and Brister fits right into that mold.” It continued with “The fear will more be that ball will never make it to the receiver as this speedy and talented catcher will be picking off balls left right and center.” Both of these are true. Brister stands in at 6’1, 195 meaning that any receiver would be scared going up against him because they won’t when with height, speed or weight. Brister also showed great hands in his days as a Boston College Eagle picking off seemingly every pass that went his way. To do that he not only needed his hands, but he also needed his speed to jump passes. I personally really like Terrell Brister (obviously. He’s active, he is trying to get better, he has great hands which just about every corner needs. I managed to get Brister in for an interview this morning. Ash: So you didn’t go to San Antonio, does that bother you? Terrell: A bit, but not because I wanted to go there. But because they passed on me. But I have to thank everyone in the Luchadores organization for picking me, because at the end of the day I never thought I could be here. Ash: In a Man to Man corner class like this, how fierce do you expect the competition to be? Terrell: Very fierce. You’ve got a guy like Fletcher who has “it”. Ash: What’s “it”? Terrell: Fletcher wants to succeed. He strives for greatness, and I think he could achieve that. But only after I go down as the #1 cornerback in NSFL and DSFL history. He will probably #2. Ash: Are you going to have a chip on your shoulder now? Terrell: Yes I am. I am going to prove to the teams that passed on me that it was a mistake. I will go early first when I get to the NSFL. I will be the best Cornerback that you will ever see in the DSFL and the NSFL. Ash: You speak with a lot of confidence Terrell *laughs* Yeah, I’m fired up. I’m the best corner in the game. Don’t ever try any sorry receivers against me. Ash: Where do you rank yourself among these other corners? Terrell: Coming in the draft, I was 2nd or 3rd, but now I feel like i’m the best. I have that drive that I feel some of these other guys don’t have. I have the drive to be better. I have “it”. Ash: Many people liked you coming into the draft, why do you think you fell? Terrell: I wish I could tell you. I’ve heard people say I’m built to make interceptions, so I guess teams don’t like creating turnovers *laughs*. But really, I think it was because I need to be better at tackling. Trust me I will be very soon, I’ve been working hard getting ready for the season, so my tackling is way better now than it was in my days as an Eagle. Another thing definitely is my game smarts. On some of my film, I made a really stupid decision that cost our team. Ash: You say you’ve been working hard, what is it that you focused the most on? Terrell: Like I said tackling. I need to be a better tackler before I become the greatest. Also I went into a conditioning program to get faster, so expect to see that when I’m on the field. Ash: When I looked at your film from Boston College, you looked like you catch everything, is that true? Terrell: I like to think I do catch almost every bad pass and even some good ones. In football you can make the perfect pass, but a defender can make an even better play. When I switched from playing Forward on my high school basketball team to playing corner on the varsity football team my Junior year, I thought the best way to get scouts to notice me was to force turnovers. I worked my butt of doing reciever drills. Ash: So you think you can play receiver? Terrell: Maybe in some wildcat formation! But to continue, after a few weeks of doing those reciever drills I noticed that I took better angle’s, had better hands, and wasn’t afraid to take a hit. Ash: So, when did you get your first college letter? Terrell: After we won the State Championship my Junior season, I got a letter from Boston College. A few of their scouts were watching me very closely during that season, after I made the local news for getting 5 interceptions in one game. They looked at videos of me and decided to send me a full athletic scholarship before I even became a senior. I got some other letters of course, but I wanted to go to a local school to stay near my family so Boston College seemed like the perfect fit. Ash: Thank you for your time Terrell! I’ll be sure to interview you soon enough again! That's it for this story guys. Thanks to my friend Terrell Brister for taking the time to do this interview. Good luck to you and all of the new DSFL players! 1064 Words Ready for grading *Terrell Brister: Postdraft - dustyatters - 10-25-2017 Great write up dude, looking forward to facing off against you on the field this season! *Terrell Brister: Postdraft - BOOM™ - 10-25-2017 Good read! We did have 3 DBs ahead of you on our board, but you were 13th overall on ours despite that. I think Tijuana got a great player without reaching. In fact, for all the fame about loco not scouting, he actually did really well. Best of luck in the league, and I look forward to not throwing at you in our games. *Terrell Brister: Postdraft - tbone415 - 10-25-2017 (10-25-2017, 11:07 AM)kckolbe Wrote:For what it's worth, you went off the board before we took a single DB. Im not too mad I didn't go to San Antonio. Maybe one day i'll be a GM. *Terrell Brister: Postdraft - PDXBaller - 10-25-2017 I had you very high on my board as well for DBs. I've been impressed by your eagerness as of late and I think you'll develop into a great player at this rate. Looking forward to seeing you grow! Tijuana got a good one here. *Terrell Brister: Postdraft - tbone415 - 10-25-2017 (10-25-2017, 12:22 PM)PDXBaller Wrote:I had you very high on my board as well for DBs.
