A lot has changed in the last year, not only is Lavelle a much better player but he has excelled in his yoga exercises. This time last year Lavelle could only dream of achieving the one handed tree pose or the Sirsa Padasana but he has achieved just that in the recent few weeks. While Lavelle's flexibility has greatly improved in the last 6 months, his ability to read the game has followed suit. Lavelle recently gained 5 pounds in the off season with some people speculating that it's to work on his tackling game. After all Lavelle managed a mere 47 tackles , 2 interceptions and 12 pass deflections this season, statistically his worst year yet. Yellowknife fans will hope that the Season 2 #1 pick can get his shit together and have another breakout year, similar to his rookie year. Only time will tell if the yoga is actually paying off for Lavelle. Coming off his worst ever season in terms of stats, Lavelle will look to bounce back from both his individual woes and team disappointments. Regardless of what happens, it's make or break for Lavelle. (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - SimmerDownBruhh - 10-28-2017 Ricky "GOAT TE/DE™" Maddox has been laying low for the most part this offseason. Most of his time was spent doing the usual tasks of running his chicken wing restaurant housed in Yellowknife. By the looks of the growth, the chances of expansion inside of the US are very VERY likely. Besides the chicken wing business, most of the time has been spent working on his cardio. Running three miles everyday since his team, the Yellowknife Wraiths, was eliminated from the playoffsfor the first time in team history. It's easy to say that an even bigger fire has risen since that moment. The workouts increased, the work ethic enlightened, and thirty pounds off of his frame, Ricky is ready more than ever to turn this league on its head. Seeing the competition grow around him in the NSFL has been getting Ricky to a level he wasn't sure was possible. And is he grateful of the year ahead of him. The team has a new look and it's a turnover that went very unexpected. So much of the core has departed the scene due to their own reasons but there will be a time where he will face his old locker room buddies. Who will come out on top, we don't know but will soon find out soon. 217 words (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - DELIRIVM - 10-28-2017 ![]() (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - loco - 10-28-2017 ![]() (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - bluesfan55 - 10-28-2017 Joseph Lombardi had a productive offseason. He spent a lot of time at his high school, Eastern Regional High, practicing kicking and punting with the school's varsity team. Just five years before, Lombardi was handling kicker/punter roles at the school, and kicked the game-winning field goal in the New Jersey DIA championship. Normally during his college days, he'd spend his summers practicing kicking at Vanderbilt, his alma mater, but after graduating to the NSFL and spending his rookie season with three teams, he wanted to spend his summers at home practicing, rather than spending his summers many miles away in Yellowknife. Every day he would wake up at 6:00 AM, run three miles, and then drive to the field and kick 200 field goals and make 200 punts that landed at the 1 yard line. Normally, it'd take him almost all day, but to him, it was time well spent. (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - Yurt6 - 10-28-2017 Clifford Rove spent the offseason as he has spent every season since he was fourteen, practicing for 3 hours a day and cross training nearly every day. This season however, Clifford Rove changed it up a little bit. He hired a new trainer who is world renowned for getting athletes up to a level that they have never reached before. Using new practice methods, Rove reported that he had never before came out of an offseason feeling quite so prepared for the regular season. This is important for Rove, as he has many hoping for a breakout season two, and he is looking to avoid the always brutal Sophomore slump. Rove also worked on his general mobility, working out with decathletes from the United States national team to make sure he was in the best overall shape he could be. All of this offseason work should lead to some drastic changes for Rove on the field, at least that's what he is hoping for, and so are fans from Philadelphia, with many thinking this is the year they can make it to the Ultimus. Rove seems to think so too, and he is doing everything in his power to bring it home for the home team. Will it work? We will just have to wait and see. 217 Words (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - JBLAZE_THE_BOSS - 10-28-2017 ![]() (S4) - Weekend PT #1 - Off Season Program - HENDRIX - 10-28-2017 Last offseason spent a month with a couple of teammates doing endurance training in the Rockies, but this offseason consisted of more time in the film room. Hendrix has great strength, agility, and speed, but too often he made poor reads. Play action always had him off balance and you could not even count the number of times he over shot or undershot a tackle attempt in the backfield on a running back. Plays like that should be three yard losses, but often times they led to big chunks being gained by the running back. The Hawks defensive coordinator and the entire Hawks defensive line dissected and learned from a bunch of these plays compiled in a video from the previous season. The players learned that different running backs have different tendencies, some like to attack holes between the guards and center while some of the more speedy runners like to keep stretching the run to the outside. There are also teams that like to use play action much more than others, being aware of these tendencies entering the games will help the players increase their odds of making the correct decision. The four members of the Hawks defensive front have made a goal to increase their tackles for loss this season by 30% over the previous. It's a big jump from the DSFL, but I'm ready. I have been training with the team and that's great compared to the camps in the minors and college. Practicing in Arizona is some of the best football being played right now, you have an elite offense and defense battling it out. Things get hot, and it fuels you to perform better. I love the drive so far, now I'm playing with all these other great players, the competition is much higher and level of play much greater. It's going to be a good season, and that all starts here in the off-season. Been training hard on and off the field, the weight room and gym are just as important as practicing on the turf. Just through this short period of time, I've matured and grown as player and person. It's interesting to see how hard everyone works here in the NSFL, so it's elevated my training too. This off-season? I've put in a lot of work into my tackling, trying to get my my tackling ability up so that I can handle all of these great players in the NSFL. |
