I'm sorry, but I think that the HO has been overreaching it's bounds recently. There have been way too many topics locked because of how "toxic" they're getting or how they "look like they're going to get toxic". I find this excuse kinda bullshit. Having open discourse about issues that involve players is extremely important. But I will admit that we also have an issue with the general public here. Mainly, the weird mob mentality that we've created.

When did we get to the point where everyone here is a fucking moon truther who thinks the HO is hiding shit from us? While they've been pretty stupid recently, I wouldn't call them a shadowy organization. And this new culture of people deciding to post "THE TRUTH!" in media articles is the stupidest shit. It railroads the actual process in which we can actually find who's guilty. We can see this IRL where if the media puts out an article "finding" some "hidden truth" everyone jumps on the person before they can even respond. With this weird mob mentality, we've gotten two players banned for being friends and another three players thrown away as outcasts for using VPNs. This isn't a healthy place right now.

Back to the HO, I guess that would be a good place to mention how with that reasoning, they can see fit to close topics. But they shouldn't. By not allowing discussions to take place, information becomes scattered. By only really accepting evidence through PMs, you allow the people who are actually trying to help to be silenced, and the crazies to take over the wider dialogue.

And let's move over to "the crazies". I will not make any major assumptions and generalizations about people, but it looks like most of these conspiracies are coming from the Liberty. Like, WTF is going on in that locker room that is making half of the team want to go after everyone else? The Outlaws kinda do the same thing in a joking sense, being generally annoying about everything, but the Liberty has been trying to get everyone on this site banned who isn't on the Liberty. As I said, I'm not making a generalization, I know that there's probably a strong contingent of you who aren't in the mob. All I'm saying is that the people who are need to take a good long look at themselves and what they're doing. They don't want to see this place go to shit, yet they're the ones who are mudslinging.

I guess it can't be helped in this current socio-political climate where we're constantly bombarded with news outlets talking about "fake news" and "the REAL truth". This stuff seeps into us. The forum may look toxic, but it's just a small reflection of society in general. If we want to fix our issues, we need to think about the root cause. I've got a theories.

Everyone here wants to be the leader. Each one of us thinks they know how all of this should be run and doesn't trust anyone other than themselves to do it right. There are people who think they've got it all figured out. The truth is that no one in the world really ever has it figured out. Our world leaders are winging it, so why should we expect the volunteers in charge of a fake football league to be any different?

So a solution here is to make sure that first we understand that no one's out to get you. We also need to cut down on the jokes about cheating. Look at the phenomenon recently where assholes on the internet decided to joke about Hitler and white supremacy, and now we've got the fucking KKK marching through the streets. That's an extreme example, but joking about horrible things isn't "edgy", it's dangerous. I don't know where we went from jokes about how Er rigged the Outlaws to win in S2 because he was on the team to almost the whole Liberty team going after Er on Twitch because they were losing.

This isn't about "being soft", this is about being decent human beings. Don't twist facts for the sake of a joke, because there can be collateral damage. And the HO shouldn't cut down on actual discussion about these things, because the more we can talk about it, the more we can educate people. Misinformation spreads with silence. Don't create that silence if you want people to have the right information.

So do we all understand how not to be dicks to eachother?

Hey Jiggly, nice to see you taking a break from taking a break to come lecture us again. How's the team you are paid 9m to lead to success doing? Dead last? How bout that.

I don't like witch hunts.

I really don't like abuses of power.

But I can not STAND people who sit around and contribute nothing trying to high-road the people actually getting involved. The league needs people who speak up, yes, but they also need a DSFL GM. Be that first, THEN take on other projects.

Right now, I have about as much interest in your opinion as you have in your players.

For those wondering why I put this in the thunder dome and not in the media section, it's because this is where you're supposed to fling shit. If you have a problem with someone or some team, put it here. If you have a problem with the HO, put it in the Suggestion Box. You shouldn't be able to profit off of starting things.

I threw some shit around in this, I don't deserve money from it.

Our goal was never to mute dialogue. We just want to finish formulating a suitable response to serious allegations before we address the rest of the community. When we leave those sorts of threads open they devolve from what should be a civil discussion where facts reign supreme, to...what they became.

In fact, hawk mentioned the open discussion we'd like to host with a member or two of the community where we can also field additional comments from spectators.

We get a lot of shit about transparency and stifling discussion, but we do a lot more than I believe we get credit for to alleviate that belief.
