(S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - Admin - 11-18-2017 This PT will run for the weekend only. Your Task: Written: Must be at least 200 words, write about something during your players career that had one decision been different would have significantly changed your players current situation Or Grafx: create a grafx submission highlighting what could be different in your players career if one decision had been changed Gain 2 TPE for completing the task in full Deadline: Sunday night, 11:59PM PST (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - Bwestfield - 11-18-2017 There have been plenty of events over the years. Some of these events were large and some of them were small. I think the event that stands out to me the most is being drafted so late by the Otters and being placed second on the depth chart behind Robert Phelps. In my rookie presser which seems like forever ago, I said that I just wanted to play for an NSFL team and I didnt care where on the depth chart I landed. At the time this was true but there was always that part of me that said I deserved to be the number one wide out and I should be. As the season began and the inaugural year started I felt more like a 1.0b rather than a 2. After learning the culture and the people in the Otter locker room and seeing my teammate Robert Phelps succeed in so many ways I really felt like I had a lot to learn still despite how well we both did. If I wouldve been thrown into the number one position right away I feel like I wouldve gotten cocky, careless, and wouldnt have tried as hard as I did to get where I am today. (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - White Cornerback - 11-18-2017 This PT submission is going to be a mix of IC and OOC so buyer beware. So as many of you will know, I originally became aware of this site sometime during the last week of May, 26th/27th. I originally seen the site both on r/madden and r/cardinals and clicked onto it on my phone then laptop, I had a quick look and thought at first, fuck this looks like too much work. I don't even know if I'll even enjoy it. Then about a week later either on the 1st or 2nd of June I signed up and missed the draft by a whole day. Seeing how nothing happened for my player for about 48 hours I figured I may as well look around the league and see what they've got. Now I'm a huge fan of stat keeping on madden, looking at player histories, who they retired with, what they achieved and I just fell in love with the sheer detail on this site. Whether it's something simple like roster pages, team history, career stats or anything in between. I just felt that had I not seen those posts on reddit, that I definitely wouldn't be here today... or worse I could've ended up buying Madden 18 for my football fix! My IC story has always been that I originally missed the draft because my agent forgot to file the declaration form and necessary papers combined with an undertone that a drug related incident left me ineligible for the NSFL draft following the finishing of my final college year at the University of Arizona. It's a weird one because if I did make it in time for the S1 NSFL Draft I likely would've been a very late round pick or possibly go undrafted versus where I ended up in the S2 Draft. #1 , the best player in the draft by a long shot. It's an interesting dynamic for sure and chances are I definitely would not have ended up back in Yellowknife that's for sure. Maybe I could've been an Otter? An Outlaw? Maybe I couldve' been left unrpotected in the S2 Expansion Draft and fell to either the Legion or the Liberty? Who knows? Maybe I wouldn't be a head office member? I could've even went inactive to be honest depending on which team and what the quality of their locker room is like. Regardless hitting the S2 draft allowed me to get a step up on all my competition and roll with all the punches. I've rolled with this story and I don't know if I'll ever pick a side to fall on. Regardless of what I chose to do in character, I can honestly say this site has affected me positively in a huge manner. Whether it was the fact that I was coming off an awful breakup and just about to head into my final year of college in the same course as my ex in a few months or the fact that I broke my collarbone for the 2nd time in 9 months just a month and being told that if I broke it again I'd have to give up soccer and sports entirely after joining here, this site helped me get some routine back in my life. It allowed me to spend my time crippled focusing on something that helped me stay somewhat engaged in sports and life even as a cripple. It allowed me to not take for granted being able to move and jump and exercise but it also made me really push for a change in my life. Both physically and mentally, physically in the way that I wanted to fix my weight issues, I wanted to gain weight and get bigger and stronger and hopefully never fall in this shape again and mentally in the aspect that I'm not letting somebody fuck me over this badly again and let it get to me. This site and you all mean a lot to me, whether I'm on this site in 10 years time or leave in 1 years time. Finally I'd like to sign off from this PT by saying @ErMurazor is a rigging cheat. (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - PigSnout - 11-18-2017 Back before the Season 1 NSFL draft, only one team contacted Boss Tweed. This team was the Yellowknife Wraiths. As they already had Bubba Nuck as their established started, the Wraiths were only looking for a backup running back and saw Tweed as a potential candidate from that role, telling him that running back was not a position of priority for them but that Tweed was high on their board of running backs. After 16 rounds had gone by, every team had already selected a starting running back and most had already locked down a back up as well. With the second pick in the seventeenth round, #98 overall, the Wraiths decided to take their backup running back. However, instead of Boss Tweed, they opted to select Jack Stats instead. Boss Tweed was selected a pick later by the Colorado Yeti. At the time, it seemed insignificant which backup running back the teams took, nobody was expecting a seventeenth round pick to amount to much. However, Tweed has now become a top player in the draft and is looking like one of the best steals in NSFL history. It's hard to tell how close the Wraiths were to actually selecting Tweed, but it is interesting to wonder how Tweed's career would have gone differently if he were selected by the Wraiths instead. He wouldn't have gotten much playing time early on playing behind the Season 1 MVP, Bubba Nuck. After Season 1, the league expanded. With a starting running back already established, would the Wraiths have sent Tweed to either the Liberty or the Legion? They did leave Jack Stats unprotected in the expansion draft and he ended up heading to Las Vegas. However, Tweed had shown much more potential and put in many more training hours, so it is possible that the Wraiths would have looked for a way to keep him around. Perhaps Tweed would no longer be a running back and would have been switched to a different position instead. Also, it could have impacted the fates of two franchises. If the Wraiths had Tweed, the Yeti would have been missing their top running back in Season 1 and its possible the Wraiths would have made the Ultimus instead and maybe would have become the innagural champions of the NSFL. If this happened, maybe the Wraiths would have become the league powerhouse instead of the Outlaws. With an extra talented player, the Wraiths also may have had an extra edge to win the conference in Season 2 or make the playoffs in Season 3. It is hard to tell how much of a difference it would have made, but Tweed's career path could have different completely and the competitive fabric of the league could have been much different if the Wraiths had chosen to select Tweed over Stats with a seemingly irrelevant seventeenth round pick. Quote:478 Words (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - HENDRIX - 11-18-2017 This is pretty easy, things would have been extremely different if Kurt Hendrix wasn't drafted by the Baltimore Hawks. Different in the sense that it would not be better than it is now. Before the draft Kurt was only contacted by one of the original six teams, and that wasn't even the team that ended up selecting him in the middle of the draft. Kurt really brought it on the field, but his personality off the field has been a huge asset for the organization. He is a resilient player, and after a horrendous four win season, the team needed players to step up to right the ship, Kurt was one of them. Since then the Hawks have been a playoff contender and have strengthened with each passing season. Kurt started off his career as a middle linebacker, but with fellow linebackers like Broadway and Harrison on the team, he willingly accepted a move to defensive end to play on a defensive line that had three huge holes on it. Since then he has been a big time playmaker starting each play with his hand in the dirt, becoming arguably one of the best DEs in the league, if Kurt wasn't drafted by the Hawks, what are the odds he would have became a team leader and an elite DE? (220) (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - jaskins811 - 11-18-2017 The biggest difference in Joseph Askins short career so far was being drafted by the Yellowknife Wraiths in the season 3 draft. Even though he was not selected until the fourth round, it meant a lot that they would take a chance on him that late. He had been contacted by multiple teams, but the Wraiths were one of the only teams to seem interested before the draft, so he had been hoping that he was going to be selected. Going to Yellowknife was great for Askins career. Immediately, he had a role model in Ricky Maddox to teach him the ropes in being a tight end in the NSFL, and this mentor's experience in the pros really helped Askins develop into the great player he is today. The Wraiths had faith in Askins so much that they converted their star tight end into a defensive end and trusted Askins to replace this role. This faith in Askins made him feel welcome to the team and the league from the very start. If Askins did not have such a supporting team around him, who knows where he would be today, but there is a good chance he would not be considered one of the top tight ends in the league. (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - iamslm22 - 11-18-2017 Avon Blocksdale came into this league as an offensive guard. He wasn't considered the best offensive line prospect. In fact, Avon Blocksdale was considered very mediocre. In fact Avon Blocksdale was the fourth offensive linemen taken by the Baltimore Hawks. Avon started out as one of the guards for the team, as he was behind beasts Brokk Lee and Dieter Koch. Half way through Season 2 Avon Blocksdale quickly transitioned into the right offensive tackle position. At this point Avon Blocksdale thought this would be the biggest transition he would make. He thought the only change left in his career would be switching to Left tackle, which Avon Blocksdale did in season 3. In season 3 Avon Blocksdale was a pro bowl level left tackle and Avon Blocksdale thought he would be at that position for years to come. Coming into the Season 3 off season heading into Season 4 there were a lot of concerns regarding offensive line play. This is where Avon Blocksdale's career came to a true turning point. After speaking with his general manager it was decided that offensive left tackle Avon Blocksdale would switch from the offensive line to Quarterback. This was a huge decision for Avon Blocksdale and it's one that changed the trajectory of his career. 213 (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - run_CMC - 11-18-2017 Dean Jackson declared for the DSFL/NSFL one day after his graduation. Four days earlier, he was in a car crash that prevented him from arriving for his audition with the Houston Symphony. Who knows how things might have turned out if the other driver didn't run the stop sign? ![]() (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - PDXBaller - 11-18-2017 Before Eli Kamaka declared for the S3 draft, he had a significant decision to make after graduation from University of Oregon. He knew that he hadn’t been scouted heavily by any teams in the NSFL and wasn’t getting much attention from the media despite having a decent performance as a defensive end for one of Oregon’s best teams in the PAC-12. Eli received an offer from a local newspaper to write for their sports section and it was an offer that Eli was content with since it gave him the chance to be involved in sports, stay close to home, and apply his English degree. It was a late night call from his former coach at Oregon that changed the course of his life forever. Coach Brown and Eli had a heart to heart about his plans for the future and his indecisiveness as to upcoming the NSFL draft. Coach Brown eventually convinced Eli to give the NSFL a try. Had Eli not picked up the phone that night, he would have packed his bags the next day and flown home to Hawaii to start looking for an apartment. The ticket had already been booked and he already verbally agreed to work for the Honolulu Star the previous day. If not for Coach Brown and his call, Eli’s future would be completely different. Quote:223 words (S4) - Weekend PT #4 - Close Calls - Roly - 11-18-2017 Darren Morris has had a very short career to this point, so there aren’t many decisions that would have impacted his career path. The most obvious, as well as the largest by far, would be the decision of the San Antonio Marshals to draft Morris 17th overall in the S4 DSFL Entry Draft. The Marshals had been one of the teams to contact Morris before the draft, so he knew that he might be on their radar, and it was pure excitement on the young rookie’s face as he got called in the 3rd round. Had the Marshals not decided to take Morris at the 17th spot, the next defensive player went off the board at the 20th spot to Ben Urlacher to the Marshals as well – giving them a second spot to choose the fictionally undrafted-as-yet Morris. Kansas City Coyotes were the next team up picking a defensive player at 22nd with Jacob Lattimore. Morris with the Coyotes would be similar to his role on the Marshals: backing up an elite secondary comprised of elite cornerbacks, this fictional situation with the highly touted Andre Bly Jr. rather than Morris’ current CB partner Gregory Fletcher. It seems destined that Morris was meant to play for the San Antonio Marshals however, with the defensive theme that Marshal management used and the bulk of picks they had around his draft spot.
