*Breaking Down Receiver Drops - bovovovo - 11-21-2017

The sim keeps track of some stats that don't get exported to the index for some reason. One of those stats is receiver drops (others include missed tackles and QB sack %).

After seeing @124715 exclaim on Twitch that he led the league in drops even though his hands are maxed, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at receiver drops more closely (he's right, he does currently lead the league in drops).

I thought this would be an interesting stat that people would want to see broken down.


Receiving Drop %
This is the percentage of how many times the intended receiver dropped the ball compared to how many times they caught it (the equation is just drops/(drops+catches)). This does not include instances where the receiver was targeted but the pass was uncatchable or defended, it only includes catchable passes that were dropped.

Only includes players with at least 10 catches.
Ordered worst (highest drop %) to best (lowest drop %)

For the curious, the player with the highest drop rate in the league is the Philadelphia Liberty's Cesar Milan, RB with drop rate of 47% (8 catches and 7 drops).

Now for the team breakdowns. This is each team's total drop % (total drops / (total catches + total drops))

BAL 23.1%
PHI 22.3%
COL 22.1%
LVL 22.0%
SJS 19.6%
ARI 19.2%
YKW 17.1%
OCO 17.1%

So the Hawks have the highest drop rate, and the Wraiths (interestingly enough) and Otters have the lowest drop rate by a solid 2%.


Hope you found this interesting. I may do something similar with missed tackles in the future if enough people are interested.

@iamslm22 on the contrary. I know how to place the ball accurately and protect my WRs from getting crushed over the middle. Best QB right here

Added them. They're at a 17.1% drop rate, tied with Wraiths for lowest in the league
