*Breaking Down QB Sacks - bovovovo - 11-25-2017

The sim keeps track of some stats that don't get exported to the index for some reason. This includes some interesting QB efficiency stats (TD% and INT%) and QB Sacked %, which is what this article is going to focus the most on.

QB Sacked %

QB sacked % is the percentage of a QBs drop backs that resulted in them getting sacked. So if it's 10%, then the QB got sacked once every 10 passing plays.

Some QBs have much more drop backs and pass attempts than others do, so QB sacked % is a very interesting statistic because it lets us see how often a QB is sacked, as compared to just how many times they've been sacked.

Below is each NSFL starting QB by sack %, ordered worst (highest sacked %) to best (lowest sacked %)

(Team - Name - Total # of times sacked - Sacked %)

PHI Rove - 33 - 10.5% <-- Most sacked QB in the league
LVL Stone - 18 - 10.1%
SJS Orosz - 24 - 9.7%
COL Pierno - 17 - 9.2%
BAL Blocksdale - 27 - 8.4%
OCO Boss - 19 - 7.4%
ARI Bronko - 17 - 7.2%
YKW Akselsen - 6 - 4.3% <-- Only been sacked 6 times (Less than once per game)

For comparison's sake, here are the QB sack %'s from this same time (after week 10 games) last season, before the new OL bots

PHI Rove - 50 - 14.7%
COL Pierno - 36 - 14.5%
LVL Bercovici - 43 - 14%
BAL Kyubee - 24 - 10.4%
SJS Hunt - 31 - 10%
OCO Boss - 25 - 8.5%
YKW Orosz - 25 - 8.3%
ARI Bronko - 17 - 7.8%

Notes and Observations
~Obviously the new bot OLs reduced sacks and sacked % big time.
~Philadelphia Liberty's Rove gets beat up, being the most sacked QB at this point in the season two years in a row.
~The Wraiths and Akselsen have been extremely impressive at avoiding sacks this season. They have allowed by far the fewest number of sacks (11 sacks less than the second most-sacked team).
~On any given passing play, the Yellowknife Wraith's Akselsen has a higher chance of throwing a TD (4.7%) than he does getting sacked (4.3%)
~Boss, Bronko, and Akselsen have all thrown more TDs (23, 25, 20) than they have been sacked (19, 17, 6)
~I believe the most significant contributors to QB sack % are 1. The OL, 2. The QB (Intelligence to throw the ball away and speed/agility to avoid sacks), 3. The scheme (Short vs. long developing passing plays), and 4. The WRs (Getting open)

You forgot the main reason Yellowknife has the least amount of sacks; having the best blocking tight end in football Wink
