RB Michael Newman Pre-Draft Press Conference - mnewman19 - 05-26-2017 Penn State RB Michael Newman is now accepting questions from the press. Ask Away. Hey Michael, is there any team in particular that you want to get drafted to more than the others? I'm gonna wait and see how the lottery plays out before evaluating my options. A few teams that come to mind are the hawks and the outlaws, but we'll see what happens. What is the single best piece of advice you got while at Penn State? My coach told me once that in order for a player's skill to translate to the NSFL, he has to be capable of playing multiple styles of offense. I took that to heart. What was your favorite team growing up? The Hawks are the closest team to my hometown, Philly, so I rooted for them. What was it like being recruited to college compared to being scouted for the draft? When colleges recruited me, they were chasing after me. I was a top high school player, and I was highly valued. Being scouted for the NSFL, it feels like the shoe is on the other foot. I know that I will be playing with the best of the best, and I can't just rely on pure athleticism to make me stand out from the crowd. I need to show off my other talents, such as my football IQ and my locker room presence. What was your signature moment at Penn State? One time, I rat-tailed a teammate so perfectly that he bled. I was pretty proud of that. I have a picture. 1. Are you feeling nervous going into the draft? No, I'm just excited to be a part of it. 2. When it comes to teams, what kind of philosophy do you look for? I think some teams should put more emphasis on culture. I've noticed that some teams' meme game is weak. That is also something that I can bring to a locker room, and I am more than willing to take a mentoring role when it comes to breeding pureblooded spicy meme bois. 3. Would you rather, be stranded on a deserted island, or be lost in a jungle? Probably be stranded on an island. There's no spiders or sneks on an island. I hope. 4. What kind of music do you listen to? I enjoy hip hop and rap, but my favorite band is Tenacious D. 5. What's your favourite moment from Football? That one time Antonio brown jumped nuts first into the goalpost.
