*The Pursuit of Invincibility - ItsJustBarry - 12-06-2017 Here we go with part 5 of this 300 part series, Spend or Pretend. I thought in this episode we can take a look at the spending habits of our various teams. I mean, what good is all that money if it’s just going to sit in the bank? I’ll put the disclaimer first I suppose. ***While I am using actual calculated number, there may be a slight variance and I’ll also note that the season isn’t quite over yet so there’s still time to get your holiday shopping done for all that overpriced equipment. Colorado Yeti ![]() OK, so maybe you’re surprised by this and maybe you’re not. The team with the least wins is also the team with the tightest pocketbook. Fun fact: Of the entire Yeti organization, Boss Tweed and Brice Boggs make up 56% of all spending. While these numbers can almost directly be related to activity, I don’t think it’s a perfect representation of a franchise. At a cost of $60.5M per win, this team should maybe hire a financial advisor. Las Vegas Legion ![]() Up next as you may have guessed are the black and gold players from Sin City. Maybe their players are spending their loot at the local casinos and brothels because it’s not being spent in the NSFL. As I mentioned before, the season isn’t quite over yet so there’s still time to hit that 9-figure mark. Spending $27M per win, they are looking significantly better already. Orange County Otters ![]() Here is where I am surprised and if you are reading this, I expect that you will be too. The team that is a force every season and finally made their first Ultimus appearance, are frugal? Now, I fully expect TC to drop facts below as to why they are sitting in the cheaper side of the spectrum. Ha, who am I kidding? TC doesn’t bother himself with my media. I heard with all the money they saved, their front office is buying everyone new menorahs. Baltimore Hawks ![]() Now we see a pretty big jump from our previous team to here. This team is spending some coin. With $120M spent so far, they stake their claim to 4th on this list. I am not sure what else to say here. The Hawks are the NSFL version of blowing your savings on lottery tickets hoping for a good outcome. Unfortunately, this time the numbers didn’t fall your way. San Jose Sabercats ![]() We’ve hit the midpoint of the list here and we see another $30 million jump. Also missing out on the playoffs, can we really assume this is money well spent? Bright side for San Jose is this figure is a testament of their activity and we witnessed all season as this team fought to the end. Philadelphia Liberty ![]() Spending just slightly more that San Jose, the players in Philly are spending buckaroos. While they may have been recently bounced from the playoffs, these player’s check sure aren’t bouncing. Is all this extra spending worth it? At this point, I am predicting a diminishing return on win per cash spent. Arizona Outlaws ![]() A little surprised here as the perennial favorites aren’t leading the list. Still though, this team is spending money all season long. With the rate of return on win per dollar, can you blame them? With only one team with a better perceived value on wins, the Outlaws are laughing all the way to the bank. Yellowknife Wraiths ![]() By now you figured out that our Canadian friends are making it rain (probably snow but whatever). All of this spending can possibly be attributed to the currency exchange rate between the Canadian Dollar and the US dollar. Is it worth it? If you ask them, they are sitting in the Ultimus game so can you really put a value on that? Hopefully this was a nice change of pace from my normal shitposting. As always, please feel free to leave your praise below. Please direct any criticism to @iamslm22 as he is my inspiration. And those that are active are basically capped out on their most useful stats and don't buy equipment. Did I mention we have a ton of inactive players? |
