Break Bottles Pre-draft Interview - Blake Bortles - 05-26-2017 Hello everybody, I'm very excited to answer all and any questions you may have for me, particularly in relation to tonight's draft. Break Bottles, Tight End out of Miami. Perkules' Questions Miami has a long history of great TE's, the Winslows, The Shockey, and recently Njoku. How will you stack up? My college definitely puts out great tight ends at an unbelievable rate. Greg Olsen, and Jimmy Graham are two guys that I really look up to, and I think that I could definitely match or excede their production. There are rumors circling you received money from Miami Hurricane booster Nevin Shapiro, any truth to this? No, that is not true at any point. I played in college to help my team, and I never would take any money to help UM. Would you feel comfortable catching passes from a Seminole? College rivalries mean a lot in college, but when it comes to the NSFL you gotta do what it takes to succeed, even if it means catching a pass from a former rival. How do you feel about pass blocking? Pass blocking has never been a specialty of mine, but I can assure you that on any given play I will putting in maximum effort. What's the strongest branch of your route tree? I tend to work well with the typical seam route, I'm a big guy, so I make use of my size primarily. I also love to run the corner route, and outrun linebackers. Dinklburger01's Questions 1. Do you think you can beat out wide receivers as the top threat in the passing game? I do think that whatever team I'm on will have me as the premier passing option. I can line up anywhere on the field, out wide, in the slot, on the o-line, and in the backfield. That will create mismatches anywhere I go due to my 6'7 size. Corners are too small for me and linebackers too slow. 2. Do you think playing a non-premium position could cause you to fall in the draft? Yes, and it probably will. Premier positions like quarterback and running back are more likely to be taken early. But I do know that wherever I am taken, I will be a high value pick. 3. Which of the former Hurricanes that you listed off do you think play most similar to you? Probably Jimmy Graham, honestly. Like me, he's more of a receiver than a blocker, and like me he uses his remarkable size to enhance his game. 4. Would you comfortable blocking more often than receiving? I'm more of a receiver than a blocker, so I would feel more comfortable on a receiving play. But on any given play, regardless of what I am doing, I'll be giving it my all. 5. Tight ends are known for being slow to break out in the pros, usually putting up pretty low stats the first couple years. How long do you think it'll take you to become a real threat? I think that my style of play will make me an instant threat. My size is not something to be taken lightly, despite my youth and inexperience. Ballerstorm's Questions If you were to switch and play defense, what position would you play? Weak Side Linebacker. I wouldn't be the greatest tackler but I'd be one hell of a coverage linebacker Do you prefer the east coast or the west coast? I prefer the east coast, as it's where I grew up. Florida particularly will always be my home If you could talk to yourself when you were 16 years old what would you say? You're gonna make it kid, now work more on strength! Do you prefer to play against man or zone coverage? Man, because that usually means they expect one player to be able to cover me. Why did you choose the NSFL instead of the CFL, AFL, or NFL? The class entering the NSFL looked so talented that I just wanted to be able to compete with such great players. Jbearly's questions Are there any linebackers in this draft class that could even come close to defending you one on one? Thanks to my size and speed, no. Maybe on individual plays, I may be covered, but down the stretch, I will definitely take the prize. How big of a mis match are you for opposing defenses? As big as they get. 6'7 and fast. have you ever considered playing some wide reciever for some plays? I have considered it, and have done it. In college, I was frequently put out wide and knocked corners on their asses. How good of a blocker are you? To be honest, not a great one. I'll give it my all on any play though. Is it more important to lead the league in catches or touchdowns in your opinion? Catches, because it means that you are the most reliable target in the league. Touchdowns just mean you are good in one situation. ErMurazor's Questions Has a player ever gotten into your head/tried to get into your head? Yes, it happens all the time. What did they do? They threatened to "break my bottles" How did you respond? I laughed it off, that's pretty funny, to be honest. How do you feel about the league's policy on celebrations? Far to strict, I feel you should just let the players play. What's your go-to celebration after a big play? I was a dancer in high school, so now I can do some rudimentary breakdancing, and love to pull that out in the end zone. SimmerDownBruhh's questions Most memorable play in your football career up to this point? The 89-yard touchdown catch I got in my freshman year of college. It was my first catch as well, and the opposing team was not prepared for me. How do you feel Blake Bortles will do this year? He'll silence all the doubters with his improved mechanics and better decision making now that he doesn't have to throw the ball every play. What TE Archetype would you feel would compliment your play in a Two Tight End Set/Formation? A blocking tight end could make it impossible for the defense to decide if it will be a run or a pass. Are you a fan of video games? If so, what's your all time favorite? I love Overwatch, I've been playing it in between workouts since it came out. What are you here to prove? I'm here to prove to my family that I made the right choice in not pursuing a career in medicine, as they always pushed me to. Zoone16's Questions 1. Anyone you see as being a potential steal down the line? Not to toot my own horn, but honestly myself. I will very likely be undervalued thanks to my position, but I will have an immediate impact on the team that picks me. 2. You're stuck on an island with your favourite player and most hated player. Who are they? (sim or real life works for this one) Blake Bortles and Lesean McCoy. Me and Blake would work together to throw Shady off the island. 3. Lay down your biggest shit talk right here right now. Y'know, I don't really wanna give that away. If I save it for the season it will work better on defenders. 4. Do you play any other sport during the off-season? I play a bit of baseball here and there. Also, a bit of kickball. 5. How experienced are you in sim leagues (management or player)? Not at all. This is actually my first time participating in a sim. :.Elite.:'s Questions 1. Would you consider yourself the cream of the crop at TE? Yup. I play the role of recieving tight end better than anyone else. 2. Which TE or TEs would you consider to be at your talent leve? I think that Ricky Maddox is another great tight end. He's probably comparable to me. 3. Do you expect the TE position to go high in the draft? No. I think that the GM's will probably undervalue the position. 4. Can you block or are you a receiving TE? I'm a recieving tight end, but don't think that I won't block. I'll block if I'm asked to. 5. Which team uniform do you think you would look best in? Bruh I'd look good in anything. Sweetwater's Questions Have you ever played basketball? I have, I'm more of a baseball guy personally. Would you stay an extra year in college if your team had a chance to be national champs? No. I've moved on with that part of my life. I've mentally prepared to leave all my friends and move on. At this point I don't think I could go back. Would you wear a shirt of pubes for the rest of your life if it meant you went first overall? What do you think I'm wearing? Favorite movie? The Shining. Horror movies that are well done give me the creeps, but in a good way. Would you consider yourself more of a Y or F TE? F for sure. I am definitely flexible enough to do something wherever you put me. RainDelay's Question Favorite Jaguars offensive players in real life? Modern? I like Fournette and Allen Robinson. Historically I love Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor Favorite Jaguars defensive players in real life? I like Jalen Ramsey, he is god Opinion on Justin Blackmon? We don't want him anymore. He is a bad presence anywhere he goes. When will the Jags finally hoist the Lombardi Trophy? This season!!!! Which other Florida team do you hate the most? I actually like both of the other Florida Teams. If it were in relation to college I would say FSU, fuck their stupid Tomahawk chops. BasedGase's Questions 1) What is your pre-game routine? Does it involve anything special? I was formerly a dancer, so I like to do flips and cartwheels pre-game. 2) What round do you expect to go in? At what point will you consider yourself a steal? Around the 4th. Any lower than that I'm a steal. 3) Is there anyone in specific you want to play with? I would love to play with Sagitarriut Jefferspin, a good O-Lineman helps the whole team. 4) What's the fondest football-related memory you have of your college? I love my first reception that went for an 89-yard touchdown. So far that's been the best moment of my live. 5) If you had to play any sport other than football, which one would it be? Basketball probably. I'm such a big guy that I could probably have success at that. Break Bottles Pre-draft Interview - Jogn - 05-29-2017 Break, Brandon DeMone here for muckrake.com 1) Not a great All American Bowl for you - you finished the day with a single reception for only 3 yards. What were Petrakis and Draxel not seeing? 2) In games like that, where you're just not getting any love from the Quarterback, is your instinct to try and rack up other stats, like pancakes? 3) With 11 TEs eligible for this year's draft, what do you think you have that makes you stand out from the pack? 4) You're a local to Miami, but did you recieve any other tempting offers out of high school? 5) Growing up in Miami, you can't be used to to playing in the cold. Any concerns about going to the NSFC, where it's going to be bad weather in a lot of games?
