The one new player that Terrell Brister is most excited about playing with is none other than a fellow Tijuana Luchadore Legend: Brian Mills (@PaytonM34). Mills was selected #1 Overall in a draft that was advised by Brister and will definitely will help a young defense that struggled last season and Brister hopes that Mills follows in his footsteps as Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The Legion defense played terrible last season outside of the efforts of secondary players Terrell Brister and Blackford Oakes. All of this will hopefully change with a rebrand to the New Orleans Second Line. Brian Mills is part of the plan to change things. Change things for everyone in that locker room. For all of the fans that would come out to see their lovable losers, well, lose. A lot. Brister is so happy to have Mills as he believes that Mills is a generational player that can strike fear in the heart of opposing offenses. The young cornerback not only expects Mills to change the game, but he expects Mills to change the culture. A culture that was destroyed by retirements. Mills has already ingrained himself into the locker room, and soon he well be ingraining himself into fans hearts.

And running backs. Them too.

You shut up. You shut your whore mouth, you sick bastard. Terrell Brister is twice the man you’ll ever be with three times the heart of anyone I’ve known. Terrell Brister is the only person in the damn NSFL who is a relatable person. He learns, he loves deeply, and he has regrets and sorrows few would understand without succumbing to madness. This Defensive Back—neigh, this man, will feel more strongly and deeply than you ever have in your pathetic life. Do you know what it’s like to realize you fed your Teammate a bomb? I do, and it’s not a feeling you’d like to know, I can fucking guarantee it right now. Do you know the pain of practicing a Pass Coverage Technique every day and never getting any better? I hope to god you never do. The dedication and passion needed to pursue something so feverishly is beyond the realm of mere mortals. This man is stronger than you’ll ever be. He makes mistakes, just like us, but more importantly, he realizes his mistakes and tries to remedy them. He is a loyal friend, even going so far as to throw a goddamned Football at someone’s face for Brian Mills. He once absorbed an entire city into his beautiful, teal, Jacked as fuck body. Do you know that pain? I know you don’t, kiddo. And I hope you never do. But every day, Terrell Motherfucking Brister gets up and faces the new day like none of this has happened. He wakes up every day facing a new NSFL team. And he faces it with gusto. He faces it with major huevos, going day after day, without catching a break. He is stronger, more beautiful, and more complex than you will ever know.

Of the few new faces that we have in the Baltimore Hawks locker room, Alexandre LeClair is most excited with the presence of Auston Roenick (@Leafer) as he takes on a similar journey into the big leagues as he himself took back in Season 1. Both players, came into the NSFL draft as quarterbacks and had aspirations to crack a team’s opening night roster in that position. Both ended up changing their role. It is common knowledge that LeClair had a successful transition from quarterback to wide receiver and is now regarded among the best in his role. For Roenick, he chose to become a linebacker instead. It will be most interesting how quickly he will be able to adapt to his new position and contribute in stopping the opposing receivers. With a strong season in the DSFL, one can think that he should be able to transition smoothly as he showcased his strength and athleticism in a role not associated with these skills.

Outside of the NSFL draft, it has been a fairly quiet off-season for the Hawks, and the other addition, Noah Goodson (@toivo and also a linebacker) should be able to immediately reinforce a defensive secondary that was lacking last season.

I guess the player I’m most excited about in our locker room is none other than Forfeit! (@KimJungBigDong) If you’ve followed the history of Yellowknife you know about their punting and kicking woes throughout the years.

We started in Season 1 with the original Booter, Archibald Booter. He was a good kicker for us, going on for 3 seasons and kicking his heart out. Well, it wasn’t really all roses for us and Booter. By season 3 he was missing extra points and actually cost us a few games because of it. I believe the disappointment must have gotten to him as he announced his retirement mid season.

Well, this sent the YKW GMs scrambling for a replacement and they made a trade with Liberty for Joseph Lombardi. Lombardi was very effective for us in seasons 4 & 5 but then left in the offseason for the newly moved New Orleans Second Line.

That brings us to season 6 and Forfeit. He was drafted by the Wraiths as their special teams ace of the future. Hoping to get a Turk Turkleton or Dean Jackson type player out of the pick, Sprike Crown has been quoted saying “We have all the faith in the world in Forfeit. We think he’s gonna be a great player for the Wraiths and hopefully a team mainstay for his entire career.”

I can only hope this is true.

Every team will have a plethora of rookies this year, but not a single other team had as stacked of a draft as the Yellowknife Wraiths. Firstly picked at #8 in this years NSFL draft, the man, the myth, the beast of the east, Borro Gore. One of the few power backs in the DSFL was picked early by the Wraiths with their first pick in the draft, unfortunately we won't see much of Borro Gore in the NSFL this season as he's being sent back down to the DSFL to feast for another season.

Tight end Glenn McPoyal is the first player on this list to actually be ready to play out his rookie season in the NSFL this year. Yellowknife has a poor record with tight ends after seemingly striking it rich with the aging Ricky Maddox and more recently Joseph Askins who have either changed positions and stalled in their career or headed off to greener pastures. As of now, McPoyal is a pretty reserved player in the locker room from my experiences with him and often will only talk if you initiate conversation first, then again the off season is a boring time for all so I can forgive him for that!

To finish out the 2nd round of picks, Yellowknife traded for yet another running back, presumably to boast a solid 1-2 punch when Bubba Nuck outlives his usefulness up in snowy Yellowknife. Rainey will also be playing in the DSFL for a consecutive season and won't be seen often around the Yellowknife locker room but mark my words, next season this RB-TE combo will be feasting, both on and off the field.

I'm most excited to see the impact that both new players, as well as positioned swapped players will have on our formerly abysmal defense. The last place defense received a couple huge upgrades this off season through a number of methods.

Brian Mills, the number one overall draft pick beefs up the weak front seven from the linebacker position. Joseph Askins made the swap to defensive tackle from the tight end spot and was replaced by the Second Line's second first round pick, Poopyface Tomatonose. Lastly, Dominic Verns and Adamle Tomlinson are headed to New Orleans. While neither are spectacular or elite at their positions, safety and defensive line, respectively, they are massive upgrades over the college level players whose spots they'll be taking.

It's a very good look for this franchise to be taking advantage of so many methods in which they can approve themselves. They need all the help they can get. First step is surpassing fellow basement dwellers, the Yeti. Then they can focus on the rest of the league. Incremental changes coming in baby steps are the way this team will succeed. Perhaps a FA splash is in their future, however. It wouldn't be the worst thing.

The most exciting rookie the Yeti added this offseason was Dwayne Aaron. Aaron was a clear top pick after he torched the DSFL in his first season of play and has shown a lot of growth potential. He was a perfect fit for the Yeti. The Yeti's passing attack has been one of the worst in the league since the suspension of Logan Noble. Much of this has been attributed to Pierno's youth but it's also worth noting that the Yeti's wide receivers stopped developing around that time so they are now left with the worst receiving core in the league, which has done Pierno no favors. Adding Aaron will be huge for the Yeti because as he develops, Pierno will finally have a top tier wide receiver to throw to and the Yeti will finally be able to get their passing game going. The Yeti's biggest weakness over the last few years has been their inability to move the ball through the air but Aaron should allow them to fix that as he develops over the next few years and his development may be the edge to help the Yeti finally contend for a playoff spot again.

Another big move the Yeti made this offseason was signing AC Hackett. Another major problem the Yeti have is their lack of veteran leadership as they had just 6 players on the roster who entered the NSFL during its first two seasons, which makes it hard to compete with teams that have many more developed players on their rosters. Hackett adds another player who has been in the league since day one and is now one of the most developed players on the roster. While the growth of young players will help, the Yeti will need more veterans on the roster if they hope to compete with the top teams and Hackett is a great start towards adding more veterans and will make an immediate impact.

As a rookie myself, everyone in the locker room is a new face. I declared for the DSFL/NSFL earlier than most and was claimed off waivers by the Tijuana Luchadores toward the end of season five. I got familiar with the guys on the team, but was drafted by the Kansas City Coyotes this past offseason and had to start back at square one. But now that I've been with the team for a while, I've really developed a good bond with the guys there and I'm thrilled to be playing for the Coyotes.

Recently, we claimed wide receiver DeAndre Green off waivers, which I'm very excited about. With myself as the #1 receiver and Stone Hans playing tight end, getting another bonafide wideout to cause trouble for opposing defences is only going to help our team's cause. Not to mention having veteran QB Mark Strike throwing us the ball, which already puts us at an advantage. In one offseason the Coyotes have developed one of the most formidable offences in the DSFL.

In terms of new faces, I'm eager to see this receiving corps as a whole hit the field. Green, Hans, and I will cause nightmares for defenders, and I think the Coyotes are going to rack up some seriously big scores this season.

I think an Interesting player coming into the Philadelphia team either this year or the next would be Blessed Storm. He has a lot of upside in this young wideout. Standing at 6’3” 230lb, he is a big boy to say the least. He has ability to run wide and jump over most the secondary in the league. The speed that he already possess at his height is something special. He might be a year or two out of making a full time Liberty player but he has a lot of skill and potential that fans can be excited now. As a safety, I’ve played against him in practice and he is definitely a handful when he is run straight at you or going for those 50/50 balls. Which in all honesty aren't very 50/50 more of 75/25 in his advantage. Storm is going to have a future in this league for sure, as a young wide receiver and still a developing qb with Rove they can be a dangerous duo if both work hard enough. Especially playing against our defense almost every day he is going to have plenty of experience and tools to compete with any team on any given day.
