Really, that archetype needs severe nerfs to the core receiving stats. It's been shown two seasons in a row that people can easily exploit it and I know I have no chance at beating Yates in yards because he has a superior archetype.

I propose the Receiving Back archetype should have worse receiving makes than all WR and TE archetypes (except blocking TE because that's basically FB).

I could respect Kennedy, he's an incredible earner and does a lot for the league. But Yates was never super active and now he's blowing the competition out of the water.

Give WRs a chance again. Fix this archetype.

They just did what you’re asking last off-season I believe

And you can’t reduce RBs hands too much because then they’d be fumbling all over the place

Hi.

Funny story, TE at WR also has the same issue where the sim forces extra "checkdown" volume to them.

FB is the only position I found that can be used as a "flex" without an excess volume or unnecessary reduction in efficiency.

By the way, Yates is a speed back, not a receiving back.

With the utter dominance of Kennedy and now Yates, I think RB at WR is something that should be looked at more. RBs shouldn't be able to blow WRs out of the water production wise as receivers. Even last season for the playoffs I put Taylor at WR because I found he usually had huge receiving games, and that was testing against Lavelle.

In the sim once a receiver hits a certain catch or yardage milestone, his speed falls off a cliff. This is the sims way of preventing 200+ yard games. I'm thinking it's possible the RB doesn't "fatigue" to the degree the WRs do.

Also, we've been looking at this from a volume perspective. If we look at efficiency maybe these guys aren't overpowered at all. They have a mediocre yards per reception and also have an absolute shit ton of drops, so yards per target would drop even more compared to WRs.

This may be surprising, but I would actually be 100% supportive of a fix (and I know TC mentioned one in the NSFL discord chat). I had hoped that the RB archetype changes would balance things out a bit, but if something more needs to be done, then so be it.

I still want to be able to make catches to help my team (in moderation), but at the end of the day, we made RBs because we want to run the ball. Even a star Receiving Back like David Johnson got 55-60% of his scrimmage yards from rushing. GMs shouldn't be tempted to line us up on the outside.

pretty sure this is just a consequence of the shitty sim engine.

for example, lets take a RB and a CB to compare.
these are the actually relevant stats for a receiver, right?

not much difference really.

for full disclosure, these are the full stats of the two players in question:

i dont think either has optimised their build for receiving, its just how it is.

id also be willing to bet that their stat lines wouldn't be dramatically different if both were lined up as WR for a year, because the sim happens to use a certain number of stats for pretty much everything. i say this confidently because i literally ran an entire career at WR for a player with a statline very similar to one of those.

i cant say anything about other effects like volume, or speed apparently tailing off, though.

The sim also has a cap on rushing attempts. Tweed gets stopped at about 37. Last year vs legion I think he was on pace for 225 yards, but the sim stopped him late in the third and gave farlane the rest of the carries when it was a decently close game. We had 2 100 yard rushers that game when we didn't have farlane starting in an formation (to my knowledge). The sim just sucks.
