*The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - AdamS - 03-28-2018 Here goes. I haven't really been able to do these the past few seasons because I didn't want to tip my hand on any actual draft strategies. So now, I bring all the knowledge, wisdom, and experience of GM'ing to go along with my general whatever the hell it is that I do. This mock draft is brought to you by my hair. Eating me slowly. Let's do the damn thing. #1 ![]() Howard Miller WR The only way this does not happen is if some other team is here in this spot drafting Howard Miller because they traded up for him. The Otters could be such a team and acquired themselves a second draft pick in this first round. The Wraiths have two picks here and a stacked roster on both sides and could give up short term value if they feel Miller is THEIR guy to round out their attack. The Yeti famously received 2 first round picks last draft from the Sabercats to drop ONE spot after all. If a trade doesn't happen, this will mark the third draft in a row that the Yeti have taken a pass catcher with their first pick. And make no mistake, they are still interested in passing weapons, especially after trading Boss Tweed to the Wraith. I know they made an offer on me for example when I was up on the trade block (and were at the top of my list along with NOLA). This is a team on the verge of an identity shift and Howard Miller helps that. Then again, so does two first round picks that can turn into several very promising players. Unless of course they get wind of some other plan and have to change theirs. See #4 for details. #2 ![]() Vladimir Fyodorovich CB Other mock drafts will tell you that Hawks traded up to pick up a Tight End. This draft knows there hasn't actually been a Tight End on Balitmore's roster since S3. It's not like they haven't been available. The Hawks largely have a different philosophy. And right about now that strategy looks a lot like realizing that over half their defensive starters hit regression next offseason and another starter hasn't re-signed yet and still might not. Noah Goodson is after all known for running like his ass is on fire if a team has a conversation with him that smells like a contract talk. And only two of those season 1 starters are built to still be viable starters after the first hammer falls. The Siberian Swatter fits the bill perfectly. In fact I'll go one step further. They NEED him. The are only two scenarios in which the Hawks don't draft F-Yod. One, Cricket finally makes good on some of his clapping threats and Hendrix and Trey are his first victims. Two, they've traded somehow up or down or ended up with even more picks to nab multiple future defensive starters. #3 ![]() Verso L'Alto TE Orange County has made no secret of the fact that they're looking for their third target in the passing game alongside Phelps and Westfield. They have had tremendous success using Jordan Yates as this person but the running game has suffered and Yates is quite capable of being a top 3 runner (in addition to still retaining some pass catching responsibilities). With their defense essentially being just as good after losing O'Sullivan and gaining Wozy in the offseason, they can easily afford to focus on a playmaker of the future on offense. Then again, even if they don't improve here at the third pick, it's not like their offense is hurting or they've lost out. They have another pick coming at 8 and they could very well trade back. Or up. The owner of this pick could change, but if it doesn't, it's about to sing like Arbin. I'll let you all figure that out. #4 ![]() Ryan Applehort QB What? But...Akselsen. This is nuts. Right? Nope. Bzerkap is a very smart GM. A GM who knows that everyone thinks he's locked at QB. He position switched right? Well...it was free. Akselsen still technically has an available position switch. Applehort is handled by Daybe, who is known to be a high volume earner who can bring a player up FAST. (Sidenote: #FreshmanHitSquad for Life). Bzer can move Akselsen essentially anywhere the team needs as a 2-3 season stopgap before recreation. And that's where the Yeti run into trouble. See...they have their eyes on the former Yeti CoGM in Daybe. And they're thinking that him sticking at QB with no position switch means that essentially two teams might be interested. One is Arizona, who recently had to plan for a possible retirement of its QB, but has no early picks. Little did they know the Wraith were haunting their steps. Yeah....take a moment. Relish what I did right there. You know you loved it. And that was how Ryan Applehort got picked by the Wraiths at 4. #5 ![]() Mason Brown LB Oh hey. A second pick. But who fits? This part of the draft is odd for sure. You have a couple of players who should be picked here but will fall because they've expressed a desire to stay back in DSFL an extra year. A few more who aren't really at positions of need. And YKW has always had a willingness to trade picks for more picks. They may just do that here. it's a 50/50 possibility because they're gonna hit this moment and several teams are going to want to get ahead of the curve and nab one of several players with good potential here. And that's how they end up with Mason Brown IF they keep this pick (and other crazy shit doesn't happen). Yes, the guy who made waves by not wanting to play for the Yeti due to their GM. Despite his vocal wishes, he's also extremely active, involved in multiple league events, and already has a job as an updater (working for his new GM). Most GMs will realize that his low TPE is entirely a function of having only joined on March 1st as soon as they pay attention. And hey...tis the season for paying attention to details like that. #6 ![]() Cowboy Cole McCoy QB Funny thing about losing out on Applehort. It's not as big of a loss as it could be. McCoy has been a STRONG contributor out of the gate and looks to be another in the next generation of QBs. The Yeti will get over their loss of Applehort and take McCoy. They'll pair him with a rookie WR, a 2nd year WR, a 3rd year TE, and if my longshot guess is accurate, a former QB turned running back. Funny thing about the Yeti. No one takes a punch to the face like they do. They were crippled to the point that Meme had to scramble for multiple seasons to put a viable team on the field before he ever even got to think about realistically making them better. I know a little something about this. And he's got a team that trusts the process. They are RABID. And the gathering storm in Colorado has moved the team from desperate, to built on solid rock, to looking to the future. And that's what they'll do here. The Cult of the Yeti will add a new acolyte in the Cowboy, and they'll get read to take a still weak NSFC in the next few seasons. But the Yeti defense! It's actually not bad. It's much improved and has come together nicely. The linebacker corps is arguably the strongest in the league and just got better when they traded for underrated and apparently underappreciated Rob Anderson. It's one of the only defenses that features an active player for almost every starter. The defense's biggest problem has been the offense. That can start turning around now. They Yeti are making moves for s9. And they're gonna Cowboy up to go with Miller Time. #7 ![]() Desta Danger CB Ring the Bell. As long as its the replica. The Liberty come into the draft form a position of strength. They don't NEED anything particularly. There are no glaring holes yet. That's why Oles is going to fill some holes before they open. And that's why it's Danger time. He's going to come in and be the eventual successor to the current inactive Liberty CBs. GMs look out for Clifford Rove on the trade block this time next offseason. #8 ![]() Mark Grau WR Grau has made it clear he intends to stick around the DSFL for an extra season. That's just fine with the Otters. It allows them to hang onto a future piece while not having to find room for him in the offense just yet. It's a stash pick for the long term, and the Otters think long term very very well. Or..it could be moved for a team that sees something they want for future value. #9 ![]() Mike Miles CB Assuming this pick doesn't get traded for by one of several TE hungry teams, which I think has a fair chance of happening. The Yeti would be picking a nice pick instead of a need pick here. Miles fits the bill well and would evolve into the #2 corner behind Andre Bly. Quiet and active is often a Yeti trait as of late (I really tried not to have that rhyme). And its a Mike Miles trait as well. #10 ![]() Alvin Chipmunk TE The Outlaws lost their 2nd biggest offensive weapon and got a young replacement who isn't there yet. A TE like Chipmunk fills the void some. They probably would've liked Miles as well but their defense isn't really in need. IN fact almost nothing is an actual need right now for the Outlaws. They're built into a position where they're at least decent everywhere and can now go forward based on what they want to do next. Chipmunk is the piece that falls to them here. Now..naturally, all of this can and probably will be blown to hell by further statements from draftees, trades, interviews, this player reappearing and that one disappearing, and a dozen other things that change stuff. Right now, though, this is how I see things playing out. I will of course shamelessly update this as we get closer for that sweet sweet media money. :tophat: Code: 1750 WORDS *The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - DeathOnReddit - 03-28-2018 Yeti have the #10. *The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - 124715 - 03-28-2018 (03-28-2018, 09:20 AM)DeathOnReddit Wrote:Yeti have the #10. Also, Danger Time instead of Danger Zone? 0/10  *The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - Roly - 03-28-2018 Love the mock drafts, regardless of the team order accuracy. Awesome stuff man *The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - Ramero - 03-28-2018 Any chance Colorado takes a risk and goes with Applehort at first overall? I think it's a long shot but with Aaron and Crush already as options they could get another wide out like Grau with their later pick and still have an option. I think obtaining a quarterback will be their highest priority though *The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - timeconsumer - 03-28-2018 Wraiths can't draft Daybe if we draft him first. *The AdamS Mock Draft: The First 10 - DestaDanger - 03-28-2018 (03-28-2018, 09:54 AM)ExemplaryChad Wrote:Also, Danger Time instead of Danger Zone?
