*Ben Horne - Pre DSFL Draft Presser 2 - iseedoug - 04-02-2018

In order to better prepare for the DSFL draft. I will be answer all questions at the end of today (4/2/2018).

To get things started I will answer a question previously asked by AdamS

In general, I think its rare for the pants to be haunted, but it certainly can happen. Take for example The Butt Fumble from the NFL (an inferior pro football league to the NSFL). Both Mark Sanchez and the guys butt he ran into definitely had haunted pants, and those haunted pants have haunted Mark Sanchez's career for a long time. So, as far as my pants go, I make sure they are not haunted before all games. Top of my priority list.

You’re a DSFL scout - who do you put #1 on your draftboard?

There’s been lots of media on the S7 NSFL draft, do you have thoughts on any of those players one year ahead of you? Any role models of the group?

1. This year looks to have a deep LB class. But, each LB seems to have very different sets of skills. Ricky is a textbook fundamental LB who seems to have balance and a focus on tackling. Chad is a power rusher, but has a lot of speed out of the gate. Brock Weathers has clearly defined himself as a run-stopper, but also remains a mystery in terms of off-field dedication. And I am by far the strongest LB in class and one of the smartest (along with Ricky).

I actually think my biggest competition in this draft is Childish Gambino, the DE out of Clemson. His power rushing skill sets closely align with mine. However, in terms of ranking my peers, I think for LBs it is important to fit the defensive scheme or position mold a team has for you. For example, a team that needs a coverage middle LB right away should go for a guy like Ricky, where as a team that needs to rush the passer, maybe out of a 3-4, should look at a power guy like myself, Chad, or Childish. Hence, its hard to put us all into one ranking.

2. I have to put myself as #1 on the draftboard. I know that I am going to put in the time to get better quickly to help a DSFL team out. I also know I am developing for the long-term. All I can say for the other guys is what I see in their current skill set coming out of college, which will not surpass mine if they do not put in the work. I also know I am willing to mold to the team needs to win a championship, I am not sure how much the other guys are. Over the next year I want to push my game into something a little more versatile, adding some speed and endurance to my power rushing game, which also puts me in a spot to compete late in the year.

3. I really like the path Niraj Garret is taking, intelligence and strength. Not sure how much of the off-feild dedication is there, but definitely like his combination of skills going into the draft. I also like Mason Brown's on field performance, excellent linebacker for the Pythons last year, but I am unsure how I feel about his stance on getting drafted by the Yeti's in the upcoming draft. I would love to go help a team like the Yetis take it to the next level. But I guess he may have more insight on the locker room than I do.
