When Oles was a young boy he helped out at the small store his mother worked at. The store was a small store that had a bunch of random stuff, from shelves of food, to gardening equipment, to carpeting, there was really a random array of items. The store didn’t specialize in any specific thing and was really just random stuff you’d expect at a yard sale, not a full-on establishment, but it was a nice little place that saw its fair share of regular customers and a group of people who worked there for a long while. The Oles family always sent the young ones to help out, and it became sort of a family tradition until Tyler Oles passed through it. Not making a lot of money but gaining experience and being in a shopping center with multiple other places that kids would enjoy, most notably a Gamestop, it was always a fun experience for the family when working really never should be that. Code: 156 words (S7) - Weekend PT 5 - Lemonade Stand - CDub2 - 05-12-2018 Cameron Taylor's first job was a stock room boy at a local grocery store. He didn't see many customers, nor did customers see much of him. He kept quiet, lifted boxes, pushed carts, swept floors. You know, for minimum wage, it wasn't the worst job in the world for a young high school kid. Taylor kept active with all the lifting, kept busy, and even made some good friends. Lots of his classmates were off at the beach, or doing camps, but Taylor was making that sweet cash and was secretly learning some discipline in life. Much like football, hard work will pay off, and you get rewarded for what you put into the task. Soon enough, when kids wanted to start buying cool things in high school, Taylor could actually afford it. His class mates couldn't. Having the discipline from work also led Cameron to always show up on time for football and hockey practice, stay dedicated to his school work and workout schedule and to learn some good work ethic. All paid off in the end and it was a much more valuable experience then just the minimum wage. 192 (S7) - Weekend PT 5 - Lemonade Stand - Alfredo_Pasta - 05-12-2018 So any one who knows me, Glenn McPoyal, knows that my mom died when I was young and it was just me and my dad. Well unfortunately we didn't have a lot of money so when I was old enough I had to start a job. I started very first when I was thirteen years old. My dad had a farm so I did a lot of random stuff around the farm. I cleaned a lot of his big machines. That took me all week because there was so many and they were so big. I did that twice a year. Once before the season and once at the end of the season. He was an older guy too so if anything need lifted or anything remotely like that I was the guy to do it. And that's pretty much how I spent from when I was thirteen until I was sixteen. Then I could get a real job and make some more money. Words: 164 (S7) - Weekend PT 5 - Lemonade Stand - Daybe - 05-12-2018 Applehort's first job was being the concession boy at his old high school. When he was little, he'd always beg his mom to take him to high school football and baseball games, so his mom signed him up to be the concession man. Applehort was ecstatic. He would be able to watch games, eat food, AND get paid all at the same time? It was a 10 year old's dream! Each game day (Football on Fridays, baseball on Saturdays and Mondays at 7 and 5 PM respectively). Each game day, he'd scooter on down to the field and eventually get dropped off by the team's quarterback after it was over. For baseball games, there was enough light out, so Ryan could scooter back home. Those were the fall days, when Applehort was care free. He made good money, too. Making $20 a ball game, Applehort built himself a little bank and saved up to get Cowboys tickets one year. But usually he just spent it on pizza, fizzy grape soda, and cheese sticks. (S7) - Weekend PT 5 - Lemonade Stand - majesiu - 05-12-2018 ![]() (S7) - Weekend PT 5 - Lemonade Stand - OBESE - 05-12-2018 It was summer time! My first job I got when I was around age of 16 or 17, like few years back, as before that I did not need that much money but this year I needed it more than usual because I was about to start my college and I wanted to have that extra money for my living expenses if anything. Of course as a real brit, one of the first things I did, I mean went to apply, was a local pub but unfortunately they were looking for a bar staff but being 16 at that time I could not server alcohol so that was a no for me. To be honest it was bit hard to find the job and I knew that they pay will be total bulls crap as we have this age based minimum wage thing in UK, which is sad and stupid as the younger people still do the same job that older ones do, but get paid like almost 2-3 quid less in an hour. Anyhow, I had to think bit different to figure out where I would like to work. And so it just happened that Mr. Woosey, our neighbour, elderly man in his 70's, needed someone to take care of his dog while he's in hospital. I thought about it, realised that it might also be a nice companion exercise in the park when running etc. Long story short - For nearly 2 months I was looking after Mr. Woosey's dog Cheryl and I think I made like few hundred quid for having fun. (S7) - Weekend PT 5 - Lemonade Stand - Zoone16 - 05-12-2018 Like many young people, the first job one holds is usually a small summer job, when school is out and it often involves some form of menial task. The very first job Alexandre LeClair held was at a moving & storage company during the summer when he was 16. The 1st of July is pretty much national moving day in Canada and the demand for movers is high, especially for older people. LeClair spent that summer lifting and pushing, boxes, furniture, even a couple of pianos. One might think that for a young person, lifting things might be bad for their development but LeClair already had a pretty well-built physique which made most of the work tedious but not painful. LeClair came out of that with a couple thousand dollars, which helped pay for new sports equipment for the coming season. There might have also been some games and food purchased.
