*The End of an Era - The Pythons and Mark Grau - keanex - 05-18-2018

As we all know, aside from some drama, I came back to the DSFL with a vengeance. I wasn't happy losing in the playoffs last year and it cut me deep to lose PDX who was my main mentor in the DSFL. I knew it was coming, one of the most talented DSFL GMs had to make a move to the highly talented Liberty while it was available with Philadelphia and wow, look at how that turned out. Not only can I say that I am ecstatic for PDX, but my entire season was dedicated to him and I'm glad he got two championships, in my eyes at least.

More than that, PFTN studied under PDX and when Cole, Mason, and I came back I felt it in my bones that we were going to take the Ultimini. I have held many pressers and it has come up, this wasn't necessarily a Ultimini or bust year, but there was a lot of emotion riding on it. Pythons aren't a pack animal by any means, but to say there isn't a strong bond among us would be a lie. Even among newcomers like Harrison, Spaghetti, and Brannigan fit right in and were a huge part of the culture immediately.

So anyway, the road to the Ultimini wasn't easy, the Coyotes have been a thorn in our side for a while, they've a team that has been playing with ferocity that I haven't seen any other DSFL team play with. Truth be told, I had worries about us advancing past them. Despite us setting DSFL win records with 12 wins and beating the Coyotes 3 times in the regular season out of 4 games, there was never a comfortable win. The Coyotes were the best team in the DSFL aside from us, and I will say that until I'm blue in the face. The Coyotes were the only team I was ever afraid of and not because I doubted the Pythons, but because the Coyotes are a well coached team with heaps of talent. The only reason they lost in the playoffs was because of all around excellent play.

Anyway, Ultimini comes around and the Tijuana guys are our opponents. I hate bummington. I can't wait until his tribe of shower fearing brothers are out of this league. I do not like any of them. And I'm glad I was able to show the world what I am made of. I shook that cornerback out of his boots for a touchdown in a tough defensive game. Pros come to play. The game was closer than it should have been, but the Pythons ended up the champs like I had hoped.

I dedicate my season to PDX. He was a mentor to me and the guy who pushed me to play to what I could be without any bitterness. PFTN gets second honors, he took over a job that had a lot of pressure and made the dream come to fruition. Lastly, but not least, every Python player on this team. From Harrison to Gore, all of us should be proud of what we have accomplished.

I am so proud to know that PDX won with Liberty and PFTN will be in the running with the Otters. They are what instilled a winning spirit in me and part of what makes me proud to be a Python.

I am converting to running back, so it's an end of an era in a few ways. Time to make my mark as a rb!

Congrats on getting the Ultimini man. I am so happy for you, even as a diehard Coyote for life.

Now it's time to chase some trophies here in Colorado :towel: COL
