Whether you're getting drafted this season, or have already been drafted, describe what your draft party was like or will be like. Was it only family and close friends or did you go out to a bar waiting for your name to be called. When Oles was in the draft he was still very much the same person he is today. Not really flashy, preferring to be silent but still a force, as such his draft party very much reflected that same thought process. Not very many people were there, just immediate family and a few close friends, typical of the way Oles has always liked to operate. Of course, while everyone else was drinking, anticipating, and well just having a good time, there was 1 thing on the mind of Oles, and that was where he would land and what team he would call his own. Obviously he already had some bias, as a Baltimore native the Hawks had already caught his attention, and after a stellar pre-draft interview the Liberty were also high on his list. While these were his top two destinations, each having their own reasons, the main thing was getting drafted, and where in the draft he went. Believing he was going to be a 4th rounder at the highest, Oles didn’t have high expectations, leaning on making a name for himself after the draft, back when he was still a cornerback. When the draft came, and the phone started ringing, they were still on the 2nd round, early 2nd round at that. The surprise was there for Oles as he went 12th overall to one of the two new teams on the block, the Philadelphia Liberty. Excitement fill the party as they knew where they were going next, and while it wasn’t quite the hometown team it was still an exciting place to go. I was still attending Rutgers for classes and so therefore I had to run very quickly out of class to get back to my apartment to watch the draft. I actually didn't make it back until halfway through Round 2, but I knew that as a kicker I wasn't going off the board any time soon. I received interviews from all 4 DSFL teams, all of which were interested in the prospect of an active kicker that could help the team convert in the clutch. Kansas City/Chicago seemed very interested in me, and with them having the first overall pick I knew they would be getting a stud in Borkus Maximus - so I was hoping that was where I would go. My friends and I got hats for the four teams I could be going to - Kansas City, Portland, San Antonio, and Tijuana - and we waited patiently. Just as our delivery pizza arrived, the fourth round started, and my name was called off the board! The room was very excited, and there was a sense of hope in the air that this would be the next step on my way to NSFL stardom. 212 werdz (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - Durden - 05-21-2018 In all honesty, I doubt my draft party will last too long into the night. I'm going to be selected in the first round. I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't drafted in the top 5. I've got a lot going for me and I'm hoping that the right team sees that. I have no clue where I'm going, but I'd guess at 4th to the Hawks or 5th to the Wraiths. We're going to have a ton of fun at the party while it lasts. I plan on having my entire family there, but also all the people that supported me while I was pushing through the DSFL. It takes a village, you know? I've got my mentor on speed dial in run_CMC who has kind of been guiding me along, helping me get through it. And I've got my entire Lucha team on Snapchat and Discord to chat it up as we head off the board. We've all got a ton of support and we know the night will be fun. I've got every hat but one lined up on my shelf so I can look the part as soon as my name is called. I don't think I'll have to wait long. (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - BWIII - 05-21-2018 The first time around I didn't have anybody and I really wasn't paying attention, it was basically like any ordinary day to me. My family understood this and understood why I didn't want to have a party or anything as it was kind of like a temporary stop along the way and was in some regards much like when I went off to college. I honestly couldn't even tell you where I was or what I was doing when I got drafted with the last pick of the second round in the season 7 DSFL draft. Don't get me wrong, I love the Marshalls, my teammates, and San Antonio and will always be grateful for the time I've spent there so far, but this upcoming draft is the real one. This will be the day that my name will forever be linked to a professional sports franchise and a day that will change my life forever. I'll definitely be at home for this one and there will be a lot of people there, but still only the family and friends that have always been there in my life. There'll be a couple aunts and uncles, some cousins, my brother, my sisters, my dad, and last but not least, my grandpa aka the OG Brock Weathers. Basically it'll be like an Ultimas party with tons of food and drinks and what not, except instead of watching football it's going to be the draft. (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - majesiu - 05-21-2018 Draft Party wasn't exactly as planned for Vladimir Fyodorovich after falling down to 3rd pick. Now looking from the perspective it was deserved drop as two other top prospects Howard Miller and Verso L'Alto look like future Hall of Famers. Still, Fyodorovich agent pumped up the expectations for Cornerback from Yakutsk and has yet to make any of his clients get drafted above 3rd spot. But for waiver pickup, it was still the tremendous success and a reason for a celebration. Of course, his roots couldn't make anything other of this party than epic boozing event - alcohol and more of good stuff went by the kegs any he proved yet again that deadly dose of alcohol doesn't concern Russians and Polish people. His new teammates though weren't as haughty and ended up without consciousness soon. Their pride was severely hurt by this event as evident by offseason trade, where they got rid of the hardy Russian soul. It was still worth because while whole boozing was great and all the aftermath and other amazing adventures that happened both during and after it are still the stuff of the legends. But I will talk about it more some other time, let's say that after this day Otters shouldn't be called the same name anymore. I probably do redraft day for my new teammates to test their endurance now! (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - kckolbe - 05-21-2018 Saturday night is a good night for a party, and his will be starting pretty early since he won’t be waiting long for his name to be called. Based on his poise in the playoffs and ability to be thrown into the fire without getting burnt, Fitzpatrick will definitely be the first QB off the board, and likely one of the first players picked. With both San Antonio and Kansas City needing a QB, and Tijuana looking for an upgrade over Penner, Fitzpatrick knows he won’t escape the second round, even if he falls that far, but he is going to play it safe and watch the draft with a few close friends and family in case there are surprises. By the time the draft ends he will have plenty of time to pick up a jersey for whichever DSFL team drafts him and head to the nearest sports bar and playing just about every stupid game he can, drinking more with every win. Sure, people may doubt his arm strength, but a night of beer pong and darts will change their minds about his accuracy. He is gonna play games, get drunk and talk shit until he is drunk enough to lose to another patron. (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - OBESE - 05-21-2018 Well, although being drafted is a big thing I, sadly, will not have no one around me except my agent. Most likely we gonna go to a local sports bar near my temporary accomadation, have some virgin mohito or something like that and just enjoy the atmosphere during the draft. It is hard to say where I will go and what will be my pick number but I hope that I end up on a team where I can grow and help the team to win. As someone who is coming from one sport into another I cannot say that there has been much interest about me but I have worked my butt off to be in this position and I expect it to work out in the end. If I manage to be drafted in the first round I guess I will buy everyone a drink in the bar - how about that for celebration? I mean I enjoy a good party with some good music, like 80's and 90's + 00's best hits on the dance floor so I can pop out some nerdy move like from N-Sync "bye, bye, bye" but it never including alcohol or drugs, so no, my celebration is not gonna be crazy, like I would imagine some of the other guys would have. Nonetheless I will appreciate the moment and who knows, maybe I will plan something bigger, with my family probably, for the next years NSFL draft. (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - Supersquare04 - 05-21-2018 @`To12143` Haven't we done this PT before? If so can I just copy paste my old response lol (S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party - ItsJustBarry - 05-21-2018 Oh, draft day. I remember it just it was just yesterday. I did my best trying not to buy into too much of the hype and mock drafts that were flying around in the days leading up to the actual draft. GMs were in contact and it was just a whirlwind of excitement and confusion. Back in S2, my time was spent as 3rd string wide receiver for the Orange County Otters. While I was just barely competing with Bradley Westfield and Robert Phelps for targets, scouts were able to quickly see that I had potential to play consistently at the highest level. Being the top wide receiver in the draft, I figured I would be drafted high. Several “experts” even had me going in the 1st round. I didn’t listen to any of the hype and just sat patiently on draft night waiting for my name to be called. I remember Yellowknife drafting everyone’s favorite player to hate, Francois Lameroux, with the 9th pick. Up next, Arizona was on the clock. All of a sudden, a trade was announced and Baltimore had moved up to make the #10 pick. I then heard my name called and have been happy to call Baltimore home ever since. (206) |
