*Looking at the S8 DSFL Draft Class - Jepox - 05-23-2018

I'm going to be taking a look at the up and coming players of the league, the season 9 draft class. I'll give a quick profile of every player and highlight their strengths and weaknesses. Enjoy!

First up we've got the quarterbacks, and no better way to start it than Kevin Fitzpatrick. He stands at 6'3", weighs in at 230 lbs, and throws with his right hand. He is often described as a player who takes charge very well and manages the field very well. He's an intelligent player for his age and has an accurate throw, though his arm isn't as strong as it could be so don't expect him to be throwing hail mary's every play. However he has plenty of time to hit the gym and get much stronger before the NSFL draft. @kckolbe

The second, and only other quarterback in the draft, is none other than Gus T.T. Showbiz. He stands at 6'1 and weighs 210 pounds, however he's often confused and hasn't quite decided what hand he throws with. He's a very well rounded QB, being intelligent enough to understand most plays and is quite accurate. His arm is also much stronger than his counterpart, Fitzpatrick. He'll be best described as a pocket passer and won't run with the ball much at all. Expect him to be one of the players to go high in this draft. @Molarpistols

Moving into running backs, we've got Ricky Adams. His former teammates can be quoted calling him a power back, and it shows with him standing at 6'2 and weighing 235 pounds. He's quite strong and extremely fast for his size. He's also quite the intelligent player who often can find holes in the line and break away from tackles for many yards. The only thing that would be a weakness for him currently is his handling of the ball, but expect that to be improving right away as we get closer to the draft. @TheDangaZone

The second running back in this draft is Elijah Lagerfield. He's smaller and lighter than his draft rival in Adams standing an inch shorter at 6'1, and weighing 195 pounds. He's a very quick player and is extremely agile and can often dodge tackles with a well placed move. He's not as strong as Adams so he may have some trouble breaking away from tackles, but if he gets past the line forget about catching him. Like Adams he also needs to work on handling the ball but he'll for sure be improving that before the NSFL draft in a season's time. @JSS

LaMarcus Strike is the third of the four running backs in this draft. He's more of a speed back than a power back, and it shows. He stands at 6'2 and weighs 225 pounds, meaning he'll be able to break tackles fairly well as his size combined with decent strength makes a deadly combination. He's extremely fast and can handle the ball fairly well. I expect him to be a solid running back in the DSFL who will improve a lot in areas he may be weaker in come NSFL draft day. @OwlStrike13

The last running back in the draft is Marquise Brown, a smaller speed back. He stands at 5'10, but is 200 pounds, quite solid for his size. He's extremely fast and can find gaps in the line quite easily, but may not have luck breaking away from tackles should the defense somehow catch him. He also needs to work on his handling, but should he do that he'll be an asset to any team that drafts him, and will be a star in the league right away. @YoungTB

Now we're onto wide receivers. We've got a ton of them this season, but we'll start with Deangelo Warren. He's a possession freak and won't be making super flashy catches, but what he lacks in flash he makes up for in performance. He won't be dropping many balls and is quick enough to lose a defender, but he won't be breaking free from any tackles as he isn't the strongest player, and might need to work on his route running before he really turns into a superstar. @cdog0803

Jai Turner is our next receiver, and he's a lot different than Warren. He excels in running routes but like our last prospect is also quite fast and has great hands. He also won't be breaking many tackles and might not be the flashiest, but he certainly gets the job done. Whoever picks him up will not be disappointed in their decision. Expect him to be a solid player for many seasons. @IsaacJWeitkuhn

Keeping up with the receiver trend we've got the prospect with probably the most interesting name, ShaDarrien LaMelllana. LaMelllana is another fast receiver who won't be breaking free from many tackles, but he's one of the few who still needs to work on his hands and getting more agile in order to lose his defender. However should he work on these, he's already on his way to becoming a star in not only the DSFL, but the NSFL as well. @cosbornballboy

Xavier Flash is one of the few Canadians we'll see in this draft. He's a possession receiver who like many before him isn't the strongest. However he excels in making catches in traffic and guaranteeing a completion. He's fast enough to get away from defenders, but won't be winning a foot race with some others in this class. He also might need to work on his decision making on the field, but that will come with experience. Expect this guy to be a star right away. @Leafs4ever

Alsan Arshad is another route runner in this draft who will prove to be an asset to whoever drafts him. He's another 6'1, 200 pound receiver who is quite fast and is good at catching the football. He's also quite agile and has no trouble running routes but like others won't be the one with the most style. He joins many more WR who aren't the strongest and won't break many, or any, tackles.
@CptSquall

Another speed wide receiver, Vinny Valentine is the next up in the long list. Very fast and agile, he's a fairly raw prospect who has a great upside, but could use a bit of development in some areas. Like most he's not the strongest and sometimes has a bit of trouble making tricky catches. In terms of physical attributes he's about average in height, standing at 6'1 and weighing in at 182 pounds. In general he's a player with a great upside who should be a solid pick for any team to make. @Unicorn

The last receiver on our list here is none other than Ricardo Jones. Jones stands at a monstrous 6'6 and weighs in at 225 pounds. Good luck to any defender trying to stop him. He's a red zone threat style of player who loves to make the flashy plays. He's quite fast for his size and has great handling of the ball. He's also fairly strong simply because of his size, and is decently agile. However he isn't the most creative player, preferring to stick to set plays. Regardless, he'll still be a good player for whoever picks him up. @ruvimk98

We're onto the tight ends now. I'll refrain from making the obvious and easy jokes here. Declan Harp is the first of the two that I'll be covering. He stands at 6'3 and weighs a whooping 250 pounds. He's certainly an immovable force that's for sure. He's surprisingly fast for his size and plays a strong possession game. He's not very agile though, and his blocking skills aren't quite as good as they could be. However, tight end is a much needed position from what I've heard, and he'll be a good player to fill one of those roles. @OBESE

The second of the two tight ends in this draft is Zapp Brannigan. He plays a very balanced game, and stands at 6'3, weighing 265 pounds. He's another strong (and a bit heavy) of a player who is really fast for his size, and is quite strong. He also can handle the ball decently, and is a better blocker than Harp, though not by much. Either way he'll be a player who can help fill a much needed position. @pazuzu

I'm moving into the defensive positions where I don't really know what they do or why they exist, so excuse my butchering of the stats and shit.

Young Spaghetti is the first, and only, defensive end in the draft as far as I can tell. He stands at 6'4 and weighs 300 pounds. He's strong and likes to tackle, and is impressively fast for his size. His scouting report describes him as a speed rusher and he certainly delivers. He'll be a good pickup for whoever drafts him. @Vulgar

We're onto the linebackers now, and first up is Barnaby Earl. He stands at 6'2 and weighs 248 pounds, a fairly heavy man as a linebacker tends to be. He can often be described as a run stopper by both his former teammates and his scouting report. He excels in tackling and stopping the run as mentioned before. He's got decent speed for someone his size, and is quite strong. Expect to see him become an important part of a team's line really soon. @twiggin56

The next linebacker we've got is Tyler Griffin. He also stands at 6'2, and weighs 230 pounds. He's a much more balanced linebacker than Earl is, and he's also much faster. He still excels in making the tackle and stopping the opposing team, and is quite strong. He as well will be a key part in a team's defense this coming season and we're excited to see it. @Youchmeister71

Kolby Deringer is the last linebacker on the list, but might be arguably the most talented of the three. He stands at 6'4, a whole 2 inches taller than the others, and weighs 250 pounds. He as well plays a well balanced game, but that's where the similarities end. He's more agile and while maybe not quite as fast, he's stronger than the others. He might be a bit worse at finishing a tackle at this time but expect him to be much better at it come draft day for the NSFL. He'll probably be one of the higher picks in this draft and will be a major piece for a defense this coming season. @GoonerBear

Into the corner backs now, the lone one in this draft is Daquan Richardson. He stands at 6'3 and weighs 185 pounds. He plays more of a man to man style of game and plays it pretty well. He's a fast and agile player who can also make a tackle on almost anyone he faces off against. He doesn't handle the ball as good as he could however, but that should improve before it becomes an issue. Expect him to be a solid contribute in whichever defense he gets drafted to. @Dmann49

The safeties are the next on the list. First up is Bucky Barnes, the 6'2, 220 pound menace who can often be described as someone who provides great run support. He's agile and fairly fast, however his main specialty is in tackling. He's a solid player in the backfield who's well balanced and doesn't really have a weakness in his game right now. That being said he still is a prospect and can still improve. He should be a key piece in a team's defense this coming season, and for many beyond that. @Moosecop

The other safety in this draft is another Canadian, Alexandre Thibault. He's exactly 6'0 and weighs in at 199 pounds, definitely not a heavyweight. He's an extremely raw prospect at this time, with his main draw being his almost NSFL ready speed. He is rumored to be in the gym lots getting stronger so that'll be a plus, and he claims to be willing to spend lots of time getting ready to improve his game. If he gets slotted into the right system he can be a major contributor this coming season.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we've got the kicker/punter Emilio Ramero. He stands at 5'10 and weighs in at 165 pounds. He's a kicker with a great leg and is decently accurate. There isn't too much to be said about kickers, but if a team is in need here is your man. @sicksnipes

Nice write up. It's looking like a very strong draft class which we desperately needed.
