*Who's Who? S8 DSFL Class - Ramero - 05-26-2018

The S8 DSFL draft class is shaping up to be one of the best in recent history, already amassing a number of players close to that of the most recent NSFL draft class. With DFA's coming in through the season, you should expect this class to reach numbers in the late thirties or early forties provided recruitment team continues to do their job (no shade intended). With this draft coming up and me being the stellar GM that I am, I thought I would try and help user retention and write an article highlighting the top players at each position in my opinion heading into tomorrow's draft. There is a number of guys who won't be featured on this list simply due to positional depth, but I will have a couple of Honorary Mentions seeing as a few positions are extremely talented. I also want you prospects to notice me and realize that I like you because as the amazing GM that I am, I have forgotten to send out PM's and don't know if I will have time to do so before the night ends. Anyways, here we go.

Quarterback - Kevin Fitzpatrick - @kckolbe - 128 TPE
Right of the start we have a position that is going to be an intense race all season. Fitzpatrick is an outstanding prospect who has been a great member of the NSFL for a number of seasons, but took a brief hiatus before retiring his previous player and declaring for this class. Fitzpatrick is a surefire first round pick with his history of being a prominent high TPE earner, something that has already been put on display in the first few weeks since creation. As the founder of the San Antonio Marshals, Fitzpatrick could possibly return home with the first overall pick, especially since the Marshals have a significant roster hole to address at quarterback now that Vick is on his way out. Fitzpatrick is already the confirmed future starter with the Liberty seeing as Oles will be hitting regression next season and Kckolbe holds the role as GM, meaning the Liberty will have to pick him up.

In terms of build, Fitzpatrick looks to play a very different style compared to some of his cohorts in the NSFL. Using the "Game Manager" archetype, Fitzpatrick is an sack avoiding monster. Not only does he have the arm, accuracy, and intelligence to move the ball under pressure, his upgrades into speed and agility will allow him to avoid sacks from both the defensive line and defensive backs. Fitzpatrick could be slotted into any pass first offense and see immense success, but has the flexibility to work with a run first offense as well. Versatility is a major upside to Fitzpatrick's game.

Honorable Mention - Gus T.T Showbiz - @Molarpistols - 70 TPE
Before you say anything, yes there is only two quarterbacks in this draft class, but both of them are quality members of the NSFL and will have a significant impact in their careers. With his role as the GM of the Otters, Showbiz also has a guaranteed future in the NSFL, and it will be with a young team as the Otters roster slowly ages out and regresses. Mike Boss is still at peak performance though, so expect Showbiz to play another season down in the NSFL, only raising his stock. So far he's put all of his development towards accuracy, intelligence, and arm which will make him an elite passing threat.

Running Back - Marquise Brown - @YoungTB - 59 TPE
The running back position has a number of prominent recreates such as LaMarcus Strike (@OwlStrike13) and Ricky Adams (@TheDangaZone) but so far this season, Brown has completely run away. This user has been making tons of posts and making tons of articles, and looks like he will be crazy active, not to mention his presence on the general discord chat. I'm super excited to see what he can do, and with running back being a position that will see it's next wave coming soon (seeing as the majority of prominent running backs right now are from S1/S2) there is definitely an opportunity for success here.

It's no secret that Brown is taking the role of speed back and RUNNING with it (haha, see what I did there?). With tons of development dumped into speed and a little bit into agility, Brown will be an absolute speed demon. One concern that is major is that Brown has no real strength, and should he be caught will be a fairly easy target to bring down. With his speed already sitting at 80 and him being low TPE though, he is prepared to have a possible record setting season.

Wide Receiver - Xavier Flash - @Leafs4ever - 65 TPE
WR is incredibly deep in this draft, with seven players who are all active even at this point in the off season. Flash stands out to me for a couple of reasons though, and the biggest of these is his past. Leafs is a legendary member of the SHL, with a huge part of history consisting of being the general manager of the Winnipeg Jets for twenty five season and no pause. The incredible legacy that he has built in sim leagues of success is a huge draw, and puts a spotlight on him to be a very highly touted prospect.

Flash has a solid build to start of his DSFL career, with crazy soft hands and some solid speed. He will be able to catch even the most wild of passes, and could slot in perfectly alongside one of the two quarterbacks available in this class, especially someone like Fitzpatrick who will primarily be a short and swift passer. Alongside this, Flash has a solid agility attribute already which will enable him to avoid tackles along the line and drag defenders down the field. This is a prospect who should not be overlooked.

Honorable Mention - Vinny Valentine - @Unicorn - 65 TPE
Valentine is another recreate, making three of the five players talked about so far. Unicorn had a solid career with his past player, but was never really anything special although was consistent in updating. So far he's been quietly making a name for him in this draft class with no media or real presence on the boards. If a GM is looking for a quite member who will be a solid and consistent TPE earner, this guy is the way to go. In terms of build, Valentine has massive speed and will be a huge monster in big rushes and long gains. He would be the perfect link up for a quarterback like Showbiz.

Tight End - Declan Harp - @OBESE - 100 TPE
Declan Harp is one of two tight ends in this draft class and is the only fully active one, but expect him to make a huge splash in his first season in the league. OBESE is a quality sim league member from other leagues and has a very good locker room presence, plus can be expected to be a top TPE earner. Harp spent S7 in the Marshals locker room and was a great contributor, plus has been on top of TPE earning so far. Alongside all of these positives, he has two big articles written and two weeks of graphics (that's right, a graphics guy *drools*).

Harp's build is great, and he was super helpful to San Antonio for the three games he managed to make it into with us. Harp has some good speed and hands going for him already, so he can definitely be used as a great receiving threat, but has also made a point to upgrade his agility and speed which will allow him to break tackles as well as stop defenders from attacking whoever his quarterback will be. Harp is a top notch prospect, and with his build also being great you can expect him to be one of the first players off the board.

Defensive End - Young Spaghetti - @Vulgar - 69 TPE
The 65-70 range seems to be the average landing spot for our top prospects heading into tomorrow's draft, and Spaghetti continues that trend. With a name like his, you already know that he's destined to be something great in this league regardless of the fact that he has been relatively inactive since being picked up as a DFA earlier this season. The main reason that Spaghetti does make it onto this list is due to the fact that he is the only defensive end (and only defensive line player in general in this entire draft class at the moment). Expect him to mostly play a depth role.

In terms of the usefulness of Spaghetti as a player, we should take a look at his initial build and first update that he did get in. Vulgar put some points into speed and strength which are both attributes that will do him well in the DSFL on the line. He doesn't seem to be putting too much attention into any single area and is instead going for more of a rounded approach to the often overlooked defensive end position. With his current build, Spaghetti will be a versatile piece that can be moved around the defensive line.

Defensive Tackle - None

Linebacker - Kolby Deringer - @GoonerBear - 67 TPE
You may not know who this prospect is, but if you have been paying attention to the discord you will have seen his name floating around from time to time. Deringer is a top notch prospect that will look to make waves this season in the DSFL. He makes up a deep class of linebackers in this class, with four players who haven't really established themselves as of yet. Deringer has already set himself apart from the crowd with a very strong first article, and his discord presence.

Now, lets look at his build. Deringer has put a large focus into his speed and strength which are the two major attributes for linebackers and will make him very successful in rushing the quarterback. His big size at six foot four inches and two hundred and fifty pounds will also be a major focal point in his success this season, and should set him apart from his competition. Deringer has the opportunity to really help define the next generation of great linebackers, but he has to make sure he plays his chips right.

Cornerback - Daquan Richardson - @Dmann49 - 50 TPE
Richardson is the only cornerback prospect currently in this draft, and with him being featured on this list we continue to see the stark difference between the dynamic offensive group boasted by the likes of Fitzpatrick, Flash, Harp and Brown and the weaker defensive class that has risen from the magnificent demon that was last year defensive class. Richardson is really nothing more than a role player unless he can become more active and start updating, although he did conduct a presser earlier in the season. A lack of cornerback and defensive line prospects is a scary thing indeed.

Richardson has a decent starting build, opting to take the man to man defender route in terms of archetype. His speed, agility and tackling are going to be major parts of his game as it appears his goal will be to rifle down the field and drag down defenders. One area that is lacking and will need to be addressed should he return to activity is his strength, which is a major downfall in his build.

Safety - Bucky Barnes - @Moosecop - 94 TPE
And just as we talked about having a week defensive class, along comes a position that will be extremely important alongside linebacker in the eventual success of this class going forward. Barnes is an outstanding prospect who has been incredibly active on the forums and discord and has quickly made a name for himself. While he doesn't have any articles, Barnes is an amazing locker room member, and showed this after being picked up by the San Antonio Marshals (making him the third Marshal DFA featured on this list) at the end of the season. He will be a top draft pick for sure.

Barnes has an excellent starting build and it was a major reason for him being so useful to the Marshals in the few games that we had him. By the team he hits the DSFL to start this season he will be absolutely phenomenal, with tons of development going into both speed and agility to make him a violently fast threat on the field. Alongside this, Barnes is a master tackler and will be able to drag down receivers and tight ends alike. Look for him to be on of the key players in this class.

Honorable Mention - Alexandre Thibault - @`The_King` - 68 TPE
Thibault could easily be one of the top players in this draft class, and has shown huge promise but falls behind Barnes simply due to a past history of inactivity on characters in the NSFL. Despite this, Thibault seems to be more engaged then ever and is earning TPE at a solid pace while pumping out articles and continuing to make the high quality graphics he has always made. This is a player that you don't want to miss out on, especially with the solid build that he has going that has a huge emphasis on speed (already sitting at 80) and agility.

Kicker/Punter - Emilio Ramero - @sicksnipes - 77 TPE
Ah, and here we are finally coming to my own younger brother. While his TPE is high, it's going to become quite evident through his career that my little bro is not going to be a top TPE earner, but don't let that discern you. He doesn't use discord, which might seem like a drag to users but has said that if teams really want him too he will get it. He's earned some solid TPE as is already, and will be able to do so again this season with whatever team gets him. And in the end, he is only a kicker after all hehe

If we are to break down his build, the newest Ramero in the league is off to a great start. Using the TPE he earned he has put a ton of TPE into kick power which is going to make a solid punter for wherever he lands, with a little bit into accuracy and a handful of points into intelligence. E. Ramero really has all the makings of a legendary kicker, and there should be no concerns about any locker room shenanigans

Thanks for tuning in to my article, I'm glad you all could join. We're looking at a crazy strong DSFL class right now, and one that will likely define the NSFL for years to come. There are a number of players in here that, if active, could be possible record setters. Who will rise, who will fall, and who will take home glory from this class? Who knows, only time can tell.
