*Preseason QB comparison - kckolbe - 05-30-2018
With two highly-sought quarterback prospects having gone 1 and 2, naturally there is going to be some instant comparison work going on. With that said, let’s look at how each QB performed in preseason. Both QBs played 2 games at home and 2 against bot teams, so the preseason was about as even as one could ask for.
Showbiz went 61 of 122 for an exact 50% and was remarkably consistent, with less than 4% excursion between his best and worst game. He passed for 601 yards, with 218 of them in a 13-7 win at home against Tijuana, and 101 of them in a 21-3 win at home against the Polar Bears. Very odd that his highest and lowest yardage marks came at home in wins.
Fitzpatrick went 71 of 131 for 54%, but a 65% completion game against Portland skews that a bit. He passed for 709 yards, with 209 in a 24-14 road win against Portland, and 118 in a 17-3 home win against the Polar Bears. Note that both QBs passed for their lowest marks against Palm Beach, possibly due to very little being required to win, as both were multi-possession wins.
In total yards and accuracy the two seem very comparable, but Showbiz lived up to the name in providing more exciting football, throwing for two touchdowns and three interceptions. Fitzpatrick threw for one touchdown and one interception.
Showbiz struggled more to avoid defenders, getting sacked 13 times for 94 lost yards. Fitzpatrick was only sacked 7 times for 64 yards lost, losing a lot more each time he was brought down.
The biggest difference between the two was rushing. Showbiz only relied on his legs when desperate, rushing only 5 times for 2 yards. Fitzpatrick was a lot more willing to give up on plays and run, rushing 26 times for 105 yards and a touchdown. Both quarterbacks fumbled once.
In total:
Fitzpatrick had 164 plays for 750 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, and one fumble.
Showbiz had 140 plays for 509 yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and one fumble.

That was 50 TPE? That's...actually pretty fucking good then. Fucked up that you didn't get updated, though. I was, so had a pretty huge advantage. Fucking 88 more TPE, and only 4% better completion percentage. Kinda disappointing now
