Intro to Grithead

Danny Grithead is an intriguing RB prospect to the DSFL, to say the least. He is world renowned for his work ethic, striving to work harder and sweat more than any other player on the field. You very much could use the words "gym rat" to describe Grithead. Although he is listed on the roster as standing at 6'1", Grithead is actually much shorter than that. He, at most, stands at 5'8", but don't tell the guys running the sim engine. With this lower stature in reality, Grithead has a lower pad level and is able to fight through tackles better than other running backs. So, while some may consider this a disadvantage to Grithead, he believes that his height and pad level actually gives him a great advantage fighting through the trenches.

Combine Results and Potential Mental Issues

Now, Grithead is rising up many general managers' draft boards following his decent combine results. For reference, here are his numbers posted and his rank among running backs:

40 yard dash: 4.71 seconds (T-2)
Bench press: 29 reps (3)
Vertical jump: 36.50 inches (4)
Broad jump: 124.90 inches (4)
20 yard shuttle: 5.05 seconds (T-1)
3 cone drill: 7.55 seconds (1)
Wonderlic: 4 (3)

Now, Grithead obviously is not going to be the most explosive guy out of the backfield. But what he can promise is hard, scrappy work that will earn him that extra Buckeye on his helmet. A surprising result from the combine, however, was his Wonderlic score. At just a 4, Grithead is apparently one of the stupidest players ever. But what Grithead may lack in common sense, he makes up for in football IQ. I mean, why is the Wonderlic even used? It does not measure one's ability to find the gaps in the defense and work ethic to outwork and beat the line, which are skills that Grithead excels in. Although GMs are surely concerned about Grithead's ability to operate off the field and perform daily living tasks with such a low Wonderlic score, you know what you're gonna get from Grithead on the field. But you might want to assign an assistant from the team to help Grithead do his grocery shopping, or someone to make sure he's responsible financially.

"Don't Draft Me"

Heading into the DSFL draft on Monday, Grithead made the surprising relevation that he wishes to not be drafted, or at the very least, drafted very low. Grithead really hopes he can be a draft steal like some of his predecessor scrappy gym rats, and so being drafted really high would mess with his mojo and his whole persona. Grithead will, of course, play for whichever team drafts him, since he is a very honorable man and player with a big respect for the integrity of the game, but drafting him high would definitely shake up how he planned to get into the league. Grithead has always been motivated by overcoming the odds, outworking more naturally talented players, and making up for those talent differences through blood, sweat, and tears, so drafting him low would give him even more motivation to rise up as he works his way to the NSFL.

A guy with a chip on his shoulder. Hopefully San Antonio grabs you, need a guy like that in the locker room.
