NSFL Subreddit Incentives (TPE + $$) - Roly - 07-11-2018

As you might know, we are launching the NSFL subreddit as an additional platform to engage with our community. The objective of the subreddit is the be the "front page" and curated news platform for the NSFL, with discussion and comments. Through fulfilling this goal, we're hoping to leverage the subreddit on reddit recruitment and to introduce and redirect new members to the league as a whole.

To foster activity on the subreddit an incentive plan has been created in conjunction with @AdamS and HO.

Here's how you can earn 2 TPE per IRL week with the plan:
  • Register your reddit account (or new reddit account) here.
  • Post a link to your media / link to your graphic / commentary on recent event or your player, etc. on the subreddit (located here).
  • If you post media that is flaired by moderation* 4 times in one IRL week, you earn 2 TPE
  • You must post links to your subreddit posts here: http://nsfl.jcink.net/index.php?act=ST&f=78&t=9660
*Moderation will only be flairing content that a) was created by the user, and b) adds value to the subreddit or community. This isn't a high standard necessarily, but spam or junk content won't be approved and flaired and you won't be able to add a link to someone else's media article.

Approved content could include: link to a media article on the forum, a graphic or sig, or a reddit post commenting your perspective on recent news involving your player/events (ie, why you decided to go somewhere in free agency).

In addition, players can earn up to $1 million in weekly payouts from commenting on the sub.

Users who comment will have their karma in the subreddit tracked. Every week:
  • The user with the highest karma that week earns $1,000,000
  • 2nd place karma earns $500,000
  • 3rd place karma earns $250,000

Can you explain this a bit more? So we do threads on the subreddit talking about the league and post the links here, and if we do that 4 times per week (assuming normal NSFL week) we get 2 TPE plus money?

Is there a word count minimum?

This is awesome! I love how many ways this league is integrating itself into other communities for growth, really makes the league look good.

Yeah not a problem - we will be tracking the reddit accounts that are posted here to a user through Reddit’s API. When a reddit user with a linked forum account has 4 reddit posts that have been approved by a moderator and assigned a flair, that user will earn 2 TPE for the week.

Posts will be approved if they add value and are not “shit posts” or “spam.” Linking 4 joke media articles will not have all 4 approved. We’ll reserve the right to not approve posts that are attempting to game the system.

Separately, to encourage commenting, karma will be tracked through the PRAW system as well. Users with the biggest gain in our subreddits specific karma will earn monetary awards ($1 mill for most karma that week, $500 K for 2nd, $250 K for 3rd).

This is not a free giveaway of TPE, but the bar isn’t set unrealistically high. If you have more questions happy to help clarify!

EDIT: Just realized I missed the bit about word count. It’s quality over quantity. No minimum, but if it’s very short it better be some high quality, relevant post. Aka: a retirement announcement, a decision to not resign with your team, asking for a trade, high-visibility “release” if you will.

In real team subs I've seen a lot of rumor posts, can we do that type of stuff for the league?

Definitely - but back it up a little so it’s not just nonsense and spam. So qualified rumours with a breakdown of why it might be true and make sense, sure go for it.

So, to make sure, I can write 4 articles on this site, link them to the subreddit, then link those links here, and get TPE?

Yes, you can write 4 articles here and submit them on the subreddit. Assuming the articles are legit, and not spam (so not journal entry 1, 2, 3 on the same topics) you will get 2 TPE.

Not all articles will be approved - good media examples are mock drafts, statistic analysis, journals about your game, etc. The key here is that we don’t have standards on media on the forums, but the subreddit as a front page for the league will have standards of what is approved. Scrolling through the media section I didn’t notice anything on page 1 that wouldn’t be approved if submitted.

Well where's the fun in not posting baseless rumors?
