Days after signing his rookie contract, WR Lincoln Jefferson has restructured his contract with the Arizona Outlaws.

Lincoln Jefferson, the 19th overall selection in the NSFL inaugural draft, initially signed a contract worth $6,000,000 over 3 seasons ($2,000,000 per season). The restructured contract is $5,000,000 over 3 seasons (year 1: $4,000,000; years 2 and 3: $500,000). The new contract will save the Arizona Outlaws $1,000,000 over the three year span. The biggest positive for the Outlaws will be the additional cap flexibility they now have the next two seasons. Jefferson now finds himself as one of the highest paid players in the league in Year 1, but set to make the league minimum for the next two seasons.

Jefferson released a statement through his agent stating, “After spending a couple days with the team, I realized this team has the potential to win multiple championships over the next couple seasons. I wanted to put my team in position to acquire any potential free agents over the next couple seasons in hopes of the team reaching its potential.”

Time will tell if this move will help the Arizona Outlaws in their quest for a championship or if it was a mistake by Jefferson to leave money on the table.
