*The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - majesiu - 08-14-2018 We are still in the midst of a playoff battle, but I've always wondered how NSFL stacks in terms of positional depth and decided to do series of articles about it. Might be also helpful in getting more detailed information to the position tracker, since a raw number of players sometimes isn't the best indicator of positions being in biggest need. Plan of releases: 1. 8/14 - K/P 2. 8/15 - QB 3. 8/15 - RB 4. 8/16 - DE/DE 5. 8/16 - LB 6. 8/17 - S 7. 8/17 - CB 8. 8/18 - WR/TE 9. 8/18 - League-wide picture and further analysis All values used were based on the last update of the regular season (not the playoffs one, to give all teams equal chance). Quite possible this will become a seasonal thing if there will be interest in it. A. Current Overview 1. ![]() 2. ![]() 3. ![]() 4. ![]() 5. ![]() 6. ![]() 7. ![]() 8. ![]() Position clearly have strong Top 3 here - Dean Jackson, Turk Turkleton, Micycle McCormick are class to themselves. Iyah Blewitt also belonged to that tier but decided to end his career this season. ![]() Blue - Sum of TPE in that regression class, red - a number of players, yellow - average TPE in that class. ![]() Unfortunately, it's pretty obvious position is declining not only because of regression but also because of the lack of good prospects currently. With Blewitt retirement, only four Kickers remain with 250+ TPE. Turkleton is fighting regression, but it's starting to become harder and harder - this year 30% TPE penalty and all things considered in S12 more than half of the teams will have to use replacement level (sub 200 TPE) players in this position. B. Team Needs and Prospects Breakdown Each team will receive a current grade (1-10 scale), based on average TPE of players manning the position (1 - ~50 TPE, 2 ~100 TPE, 3 ~300 TPE). Next grade - future grade - is more subjective since I also tried to estimate regression impact and current prospects in the system - 10 would mean a team has a serviceable player that could last up to 8 more seasons in that position, whole 1 means they have to draft/sign a player asap in that position. It's obviously a bit more complicated since activity also matters here and the more base TPE player currently has the longer he can fight regression. Current Grade / Future Grade ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Usually, there will be a paragraph about good prospects for the position, unfortunately, K/P doesn't have any. And to wrap this up quick values showing how many TPE you need to break into any NSFL team roster, how many decent NSFL players are on the team rosters currently and how many good prospects are in the pipeline. TPE To break the NSFL Rooster: 116 Current NSFL ready (250+) players: 4 Prospects (S8 200+ TPE, S9 150+, S10 100+): 0 *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - timeconsumer - 08-14-2018 (08-14-2018, 07:22 AM)majesiu Wrote:TPE To break the NSFL Rooster: 116 Well shit. *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - iamslm22 - 08-14-2018 #MakeKickerBotsHappen *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - Beaver - 08-14-2018 Very excited for this. Great work. *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - infinitempg - 08-14-2018 I think what is interesting here is just how many recent kickers went inactive so quickly - there are 9 kickers who joined since S8 and yet none of them are active. Will kicker bots be necessary soon? Probably. But it does appear that there is interest in being a kicker still, just that the people who are go inactive very quickly. I can't say I know how many people signed up each year before hand (the chart only has non-retired players I think) but 2 or 3 a year seemed pretty healthy. fortunately you don't need a lot of TPE to be a useful kicker *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - majesiu - 08-14-2018 (08-14-2018, 04:11 PM)timeconsumer Wrote:Well shit. Well I might've chosen different position to start the series, but since it is among the least popular choices it fit well as an introductory one to show the concept without overwhelming with the data. Other positions are in better condition or at least have other positions that can play in their slot. *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - run_CMC - 08-14-2018 (08-14-2018, 10:32 AM)infinitempg Wrote:I think what is interesting here is just how many recent kickers went inactive so quickly - there are 9 kickers who joined since S8 and yet none of them are active.I think that much like QB, K/P will ebb and flow in how many active creates you get due to the limited spots available. Also, 3 a year is probably bad for kicker retention in my mind. 3 a year go to 3/4 DSFL teams, who the previous season also got a kicker, who may still be semi-active, and suddenly you’ve got to split snaps of punting vs. field goals vs. kickoffs and that kind of sucks Idk if that’s actually happening, but just a thought that popped into my head In the end I think It’s about limited professional league spots EDIT: Also, great article!! Cool read *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - majesiu - 08-14-2018 (08-14-2018, 04:32 PM)infinitempg Wrote:(the chart only has non-retired players I think) Data is pulled directly from forums - team roster pages (both NSFL and DSFL) so anyone who was there last Friday should be included. So yeah, anyone who was dropped/retired from the teams before that date won't be in the charts. *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - nunccoepi - 08-14-2018 I love the idea for this series *The NSFL Depth Chart - K/P Edition - Raven - 08-14-2018 Delete kickers |
