*The NSFL Depth Chart - LB Edition - majesiu - 08-16-2018 As was mentioned in DT/DE most teams use 3-4/4-3/nickel defense utilizing 3 linebackers and even in nickel formation as the nickel back speed archetype of the LB. LBs are even used sometimes as Safety in other formations (or Safety playing LB also happens). It also not uncommon to have LB play DE since this position is really popular one and probably in as good condition as any other. For sake of simplicity, I'll use 4-3 as an assumption for further analysis e.g. each team should strive to have 4 DL, 3 LB, and 4 DB or some interchangeable combination of them. Plan of releases: 1. 8/14 - K/P 2. 8/15 - QB 3. 8/15 - RB 4. 8/16 - DE/DE 5. 8/16 - LB 6. 8/17 - S 7. 8/17 - CB 8. 8/18 - WR/TE 9. 8/18 - League-wide picture and further analysis All values used were based on the last update of the regular season (not the playoffs one, to give all teams equal chance). [S1] - Stephen Harrison 231 TPE A lot of amazing talent in this position, especially two players that are on the top since forever - Boss Tweed and Angus Winchester. Soon, with regression to be applied for S10 new King of the Linebackers will be crowned - the Haruki Ishigawa. Blue - Sum of TPE in that regression class, red - a number of players, yellow - average TPE in that class. The position is having a very healthy amount of players having representatives in every class, besides S5, both on replacement level as well as in generating fantastic franchise level talents. Still, current reliance on S1 might bring quick downfall to this position, but recent classes seem to be very promising and should help in keeping the elite status of the linebackers. B. Team Needs and Prospects Breakdown Each team will receive a current grade (1-10 scale), based on average TPE of players manning the position (1 - ~50 TPE, 2 ~100 TPE, 3 ~200 TPE). Next grade - future grade - is more subjective since I also tried to estimate regression impact and current prospects in the system - 10 would mean a team has a serviceable player that could last up to 8 more seasons in that position, whole 1 means they have to draft/sign a player asap in that position. It's obviously a bit more complicated since activity also matters here and the more base TPE player currently has the longer he can fight regression. Since it's much harder to get all players on top earning level I adjusted grades, so required averages for each grade are lower than in case of RB/QB so far. Current Grade / Future Grade 10/9 10/5 9/6 8/5 7/7 7/4 5/9 5/5 One of the highest averages in the whole league, confirming the elite status of the position. [S11] - Alex Selich 57 TPE With S1 being the core of the position it's alarming that S10 lacks good prospects for this position, even though S9 was above average in this regard, especially with Kolby Deringer being a top earner and a great prospect, though Jesse Marchand and Barnaby Earl are not far behind. And to wrap this up quick values showing how many TPE you need to break into any NSFL team roster, how many decent NSFL players are on the team rosters currently and how many good prospects are in the pipeline.
