I worry that this could be exploited if a player didn't want to be traded.  Maybe instead of allowing the player to control it, GMs would just have to state that a physical had been passed, by which I mean they would verify that a player had updated within the last two weeks.

Oh man, didn't think about that... Good point. With this system there might have to be a penalty for exploiting it, but that wouldn't be a great solution for either side.
