Breaking: Sources close to the Colorado Yeti say that QB prospect Caleb McCoy will be called up to join the team soon. No indication of his role was given, but the Yeti have no plans to remove Micycle McCormick as starting QB.
We reached out to Caleb McCoy's developmental league GM to see how this revelation would impact his team.
"Well actually, we were expecting this. Drafting a QB in the most recent draft did not appear to be a priority; however we had our eye on a QB near the top of our board. The plan was always to draft him if he fell to us. Surprisingly, the two teams that needed a QB the most passed on him.With QB Franklin Armstrong, we are prepared to win despite McCoy's absence."
We asked about Armstrong's awful performance in the DSFL Prospect Bowl. He had this to say.
"We didn't even bother to send a scout to that meaningless event. Looking at the statistics, I can tell Armstrong was slinging the ball around a little more than he should have been. He likely understood the pointlessness of the event and was messing around. Once he gets accustomed to Portland's system I believe he will thrive."
