S22 are the aged, established veterans of the league at this point, only behind the dazzling S21 monsters at the top of the TPE chart. Multiple players are on path to hit 1.5K TPE before all is said and done, and they have filled all sorts of roles and gaps for teams across the league. Some teams found some great steals that stand out, but surely it is clear that quite a few players fizzled out; the brightest candles burn the fastest. The real lesson is sim leagues are a marathon not a sprint, slow and steady wins the race. There are very very few players who can keep up that blinding sprinting pace that they break into the league with for a year's real time, without breaking or missing a single PT or piece of equipment. The ones that can are special, generational players, the sort that go first overall and light up a locker room. Keeping up all that workload, all that pressure, all those demands is a monumental task that takes its toll as the seasons go on, and it's a feat of sheer willpower to carry on in spite of all of it. Respect to those that have that x factor, that specialness that makes them stand out and max earn. My class was no different, it had a few individuals who rose above the rest and proved to be the cream of the crop, and then others who steadily chugged along beneath them at a respectable rate. My player, Thomas Passmann was the latter, but I think that sort of guy has value in his dependability; dependability that can take you to solid, 1K+ TPE heights. It is fine to be pretty good, you don't always have to strive for greatness in everything. There certainly was value for the Outlaws getting a guy like him in the 40-50 range rather than any of the top few rounds; picking him has proved to be a fruitful decision despite his sinister persona. He kept going, kept training and building, and became a success in the league while many of his S22 counterparts did not.
S22 was an event, a spectacle, a massive class that was a thrill to be a part of, and it's nearing its end. It is sad that its death draws near, but what an honor to be able to say I was a part of it. There was an excitement in the air that fueled league growth for quite awhile and built it all into a mad dash competition, a scramble for TPE and greatness. I dread the start of regression in less than 2 years, I dread watching my player wither away, but I'm proud of what I've accomplished and how I have fared in comparison to the rest of my class. ISFL has grown as a league and gotten much bigger since then. So many new face and members, more partnership from affiliate leagues. Some of ISFL's own have ventured over to SHL and PBE to check it out and to expand their sim league horizons, some from those two have came over to see what the hype was here. But S22 was the origin of it all if you ask me. It was the turning point. It was the transition between ISFL being a small, relatively new, fledgling community, and blossoming into the thriving group that we have today. The newest classes wouldn't recognize the place back then, but I've been through two players and seen it all. I am certainly proud of the progress we have made, I am proud to have been a part of that beginning, and I plan to bring out a third player when Passmann kicks the bucket.
A third player? Why ever not? And perhaps after bringing two successful 1K TPE players to the table, I will hope to have a higher draft stock than the last time around, being as close to a sure thing as you get. Not going to be flashy, unless a bit of crazy media here and there counts, the alien RP guy over in SHL might have inspired my next character, not gonna lie that would be fun as hell. But whatever RP or character profile I come up to have some nonsense to spout in media, I'm thinking perhaps of branching out away from that Wide Receiver position. I've had two players as that spot, so why not make a Quarterback, Running Back, or something different? It would be a good way to learn more about the sport and also to experiment with different builds, rather than playing it safe and sticking with what I know (how to build a wide receiver).
I'm not retiring yet, no no, still got a few years left on my brand new deal and I plan to finish it out as a career Outlaws player. Some good career numbers and an Ultimus would be nice before all is said and done. I'm just here being nostalgic and trying to get some cash to pay for my seasonal equipment, because I'm really hoping to peak at a high TPE number and it takes money to make it to the finish line. The end of the road is in sight, just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Get some good numbers this year, get some wins, improve a little more in the offseason, make Arizona proud. There is not much more to be said there, that's what being a good player is about. Thomas Passmann has not accomplished quite as much as I had hoped, but time is still there for him to make a difference. I am just so grateful to the Arizona Outlaws organization for all of the opportunities that they have given me over the years, for drafting me and taking a chance on me in such a deep crop of players, and for keeping me around to help bring that title home. Now it is time for me to repay their faith and to give them some football playing to remember.
We have just closed out Week 2, and looking ahead to the next slate of games we have some big matchups. These are big games that we need to win to put ourselves in a comfortable position and give us a favorable spot in the standings. We, as a team, are working some issues out of our game, start of the season always has a few bumps in the road. But all in all I think we have a good crew and look very strong out on the turf. We're fast, most of our guys are in their prime, and we execute some strategic plays to perfection. Watching the Super Bowl this week will definitely help to hype us up to want to be in a big game like that and get our own trophy, we see a lot of ourselves in those championship teams. Our fans definitely motivate us to keep trying to be better and I think they'll be proud of us when the dust settles on this season. We just need to breeze through the regular season and build up some confidence, then crush it when the playoffs roll around. I know that we can do it, it's just a matter of if it actually works out at the end of the day. Time will tell, but I certainly believe that Passmann will do his part to bring the Outlaws the success they deserve. It is the proper way to finish out what has been a solid career for a loyal guy; an Ultimus trophy would be well-deserved for all of the Outlaws players and coaches. That about sums up what has happened in the past without dragging on too long in reflection, and also looking at what is going on today in the present, and a look into what the future may hold for both my player and my user.
Thank you for reading and for the continued support of the site and the Outlaws throughout my career! I am as enthused as ever about my franchise, pumped about the squad we have put together, and ready to win against all odds; let's go Arizona! Let's get that title and let's get it now!
