I wanted to take a quick look at how NSFL offenses have evolved, I honestly was expecting to see 10 air attack offenses, but there clearly are different styles in the league. I did not include special teams plays.
Observations:
Extreme Pass:
Chicago is about as passing heavy as a team could be with the current rules. My memory is a little fuzzy but I think the max passing a GM could set in every down is a 70 (on a 0-99 scale). Their hopes and dreams rest firmly on the arm of Jenkins and their young WR duo.
Arizona is a very heavy passing team too. Reese is one of the most experienced QBs in the league so I'm sure it's in their best interest to be so. I'll be interested to see if they shift more towards the run as their two young RBs gain more seasoning.
High Pass:
Yellowknife had two rookie RBs to integrate into their offense. While they found their legs Bigsby was asked to shoulder most of the load.
Austin has a young team across the board. Looks like this will be their identity moving forward.
Slightly Favor Passing:
Baltimore's QB Havran led the league in passer rating while Bigby led the league in rushing yardage. Looks like they did a great job keeping everybody happy.
San Jose might be the most curious team on this list. Wright did not have a good year throwing the ball, he finished last in passer rating by a large margin. However, he was a very effective rusher as a QB with 532 yards on a 7.2 average. They also have a talented rookie RB in Tyerucker. I think Wright has potential to be a good passer, but it didn't happen this season.
Balanced:
Philly, Orange County, and Colorado are the most balanced teams. Nothing much to talk about here. I think it could be a good thing when your opposition doesn't entirely know what to focus on.
Run Heavy:
New Orleans is the most run heavy team in the league and it's not even close. They feature a two headed monster rushing attack with Gump and the young Toriki. Both have good efficiency and both went over 1,000 yards last season, so I think they proved a strategy at this end of the spectrum could be effective.
