From the Kentucky Wildcats Newspaper, written by Greg Kingsberry:
In a class filled with great quarterback prospects, it appears that Trevor Lorenzen is one of the last picked. He was picked in the 4th round by the Kansas City Coyotes, a team that he had already played a game for when he was picked up in waivers by them. So while it is great that Trevor was picked by a team that he is already familiar with, it still seems disappointing to him that he was picked so late. To quote the man himself:
"I heard that there were some concerns with my weight, and I take a bit of offense to that. I've lost over 25 pounds as of late and I am down to 285 pounds or so. So weight concerns shouldn't be taken into account in my opinion, as I think I personally have it under control"
Beyond any weight concerns, the fact that not a lot of DSFL teams need QBs might have had something to do with Trevor being picked so late. Trevor had something to say about that as well:
"Yeah I understand that. I knew I would be picked late, but I am still surprised with how late I was taken. I have heard that some scouts weren't impressed with my arm, but I am one of the best leaders in the draft in my opinion. It is not always about who has the best arm, and I will show everyone how that is soon enough."
From what we have heard, Trevor had an interesting draft night when he heard the news that he was going to Kansas City. Here's what he had to say about that:
"Man I told Dad he should cool it with the beer for my draft night! He turned it into a huge family party, but he was soon pretty drunk when we heard the news. Hell I was playing Resident Evil when my dad came stumbling in to tell me, and we had to grab him to keep him from stumbling into the table! But yeah once Ma came in to actually tell us, and to lay Dad down on the couch, we celebrated with a toast. I don't really drink that much tho, so I just drank some Pepsi. Well, everyone did the toast except for Dad who was passed out on the couch."
We then decided to ask very carefully if he thinks his father has any kind of drinking problem:
"Dad? Nah he only drinks during parties. Other then that it is usually just water bottles for him. He has this thing where he will only let himself have a lot of food and drink during parties, and he is probably the leanest out of all of us. Still has a lot of meat on his bones, but no too much"
We then asked what he thinks about heading to Kansas City for the foreseeable future:
"They have great BBQ there let me tell ya. But in all seriousness, I am stoked to be going into an organization that is already familiar with me and can cater to my play style. I am beyond excited to get started with this, and I hope to bring a title to KC before I am done."
We also managed to get a hold of a Kansas City Coyotes representative, and he had this to say about the decision to pick Trevor overall:
"I am shocked that Trevor was available this late. It was an insanely easy decision, especially since we really need a QB with Carter Knight being called up. Trevor was always on our radar, and when the decision to pick him was made there was a lot of cheering in the War rroom. Trevor is built for the Coyotes, and we definitely cannot wait to see how well he does for the Yotes for a few seasons to come."
Alright now WildfireMicro talking and I want to say thank you to the Coyotes for taking me. I thought it would ether be me or Gilms going there to be the Qb, so when Glims was taken I knew I was going to KCC. I am ready to prove the decision to take Trevor right, and I am ready to get work done! Let's go win an Ultimini! Thank you for reading and I hope to see you all on the field!
