Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review the game.
This year we had the same playoff bracket as the last year - in the NSFC Liberty faced off against Hawks and in ASFC we had SaberCats vs Otters. Hawks after home victory 34-13 are back in the finals after enormous contribution from snake/turncoat, a player that you'd never want on your team really, but got lucky in the sim - Marquise Brown. Ben Horne was also huge on the defensive end and Gambino threw a clinique with 96.9 rating.
Meanwhile Otters continue the trend of getting in to the playoffs and losing conference finals for most of the time, even when opposing quarterback throws just a single TD, though Christ with 23/32 completed/attempted was otherwise terrific ammasing 298 yards on low volume. 3 headed rushing took Otters apart and Trey Stanley had crucial interception to take momentum into San Jose players favor.
I'm not sure if we ever had a pummeling like that in the Ultimus game. Not only Hawks scored 49 points, but they won by the same amount keeping at bay whole SaberCats offence, truly a master game plan had to be involved. Gambino with performance for the ages - 5 TD, 421 yards, 117.2 Rating. Deringer now in the peak of his prime, sacked Christ 3 times, who ended up with Borkman-esque rating of 48.9. Better luck next year I guess, tough they've got their title, so it's not as bad as Yeti.

3) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.
Because NOLA deserves some action after all we have the second longest drought of the postseason, after Arizona Outlaws that is. Oh and Wraiths, but they are rather getting forgotten after Bzerkap era has ended. One big event that will shake up the league is the expansion, especially the draft that should weaken more the teams that are current contenders than rebuilding teams like ours.
There are barely any remnants S8-S11 golden era on the team, mostly they are chilling on the farm, other like Borkus either won't have a team to play or await Noble like season on one of the expansion team. Only Vladimir Fyodorovich & William H. Harrison were essential for that era with Lo Rax joining at the end so I hope they'll get one more shot before Regression Reaper take them away.
We have a nice core of S13+ players brewing, including a really nice unit of S15 players, that are most valuable being auto-protected, some of them already on the roster, getting valuable NSFL experience. While I'm still able to carry offence as #1 WR, the defence and versatile running backs should be team calling card in upcoming S16. Expanded playoffs should make it also more competitive, because often so far before season even started you knew the outcome and bracket in the ASFC.

4) Robbed
Written: Write about why your team was robbed from making the Playoffs, how did the sim screw you and why were you more deserving:
Oh my, have I ever told you that I think this sim is a potato? And not even a nice round one, but one morphed so hard that it more resembles a 7 headed hydra that want to eat you alive? Well, maybe not this particular version, but it is certainly a good allegory of how our season went down the drain. We haven't finished with record 0-14, but the two wins were actually versus the teams I'd rather lose - Yeti to have better draft position and Arizona to break Otters postseason streak. Heck, of course it had to go the other way. One thing is obvious that we need younger QB as Borkus after collecting his accolades stopped fighting regression and father time caught up to him, but that shouldn't make his worse than McCormick or super young QBs that just entered the league. Even looking at TPE you can say sim screw us, because we were far better than Yeti and still ended up with same record, and teams that were barely better won a ton more. C'mon, next year got to be a lot better, especially with vast part of the team still improving and others that should struggle both with regression and expansion a lot more. So let's end this CW on the positive note, don't treat it too serious and see you next season!

J. Andrews cousin, PBE S12 Rookie

#7) Next Season
With the Luchadores amazing season coming to an end with a loss in the first round of the playoffs, Jordan Andrews can't be more than pleased with the opportunity to learn from his teammates and coaches ahead of the draft. It's still unclear to Andrews if he is to be drafted and if he is, who could be a possible suiter. Next season is sure to have high expectations for the 5x DSFL champions, Tijuana Luchadores and Jordan has expressed on mutiple occasions his interest on returning to the city he grew up not too far away from in LA. Being picked up as a free agent after the week 9 games gave Andrews game action in weeks 10-14 and in their lone playoff game as he instantly became the teams number 2 CB after recent actions opened the door for the young corner. With his talents and his eagerness to be the best at his position, next year should be nothing less of a success compared to this season. Details are a little choppy at the moment relating to other players on the team and their decision on where they will be playing next season but Andrews doesn't let the talk dry up his flow. As much as he would love to have all the guys back next year, he knows it's part of the business and each guy will make the best decision for they selves and their families.
Winning a national championship at UCLA is nothing but motivation as Jordan is usually always the first at the team training facility every morning and a lot of times the last to leave as he is fine tuning his technique on the field, watching film or you can even find him with a coach, whether it be defensive or offensive, it doesn't matter. Jordan Andrews is a sponge in the open ocean soaking up all the information he can.
Andrews is growing a bond with the city of Tijuana in the short time he's been part of the team as he's gone on many tours out in the city to interact with the people and to provide the daily essentials they need for life. All of the rookies works thus far has lead many to label him as possibly the up and coming best CB in the league and wherever Jordan is playing next year, he's bound to not disappoint and build a positive self image.

#8) Strategies
With our (Tijuana Luchadores) loss in the first round of the playoffs, some would say there are obvious changes needed going into the off-season. Whether that being on the player side, coaching staff or front office has yet to be pin pointed but keep in mind that the Luchadores was the best team statistically speaking in the DSFL this season.
The Luchadores was the #1 offense and defense in the DSFL this past season and did so in leading in almost every major stats category. Most passing yards, most sacks and second most interceptions to name a few highlighted a fantastic season by the 5x champions. I wouldn't say personally there would be much changes needed to get Tijuana back in the mix for a championship but that playoff loss pointed out that the passing attack was stagnant and the rush defense probably played their worst game in the loss. With plenty of talent coming in this off-season in the S17 draft, anything is possible with the Luchadores as they look to continue to be one of the best teams, if not the best in the entire DSFL/NSFL. Late season rookie signing Jordan Andrews is hoping for a return to Tijuana but know the factors with two expansion teams this year.

#19) Expansion Teams
Being a rookie in S17 of the NSFL will be nothing short of a special one as it is confirmed that there will be two expansion teams being introduced to the league this off season. If I'm not mistaken, the two cities are Chicago and Austin. As Andrews has stated in an interview with team reporters after practice one evening, it would be an honor for him if he was to be drafted by either of the two franchises as it would bring a little extra light to the young up and comer to other teams within the league as a talent to keep an eye on.
Jordan has jokingly expressed his wishes to play for Chicago saying that he would love to play in the snow for the first time in his life. "Looks fun! I'm more than aware that the ground doesn't feel as soft as it looks with snow covering it, but when your adrenaline is pumping no one feels it." Growing up in southern California his entire life and being exposed to 120+ degree heat, who knows if the transition will be a smooth one for the dedicated DB.
With the two expansion teams inbound and the third expansion in league history, increased tv ratings and an all time high in jersey and team merchandise sale this season, it can only spell great intentions for the NFSL. There's talent to be seen in this league and league officials are well aware of it and are constantly drafting plans on the next step for the league. Stay tuned as the off season approaches. Where will Jordan Andrews be playing his rookie year? Chicago? Austin? TJ? Or is it one of the other amazing franchises?

1. Playoff Review - 236 words (6/11/19)

It was not the most exciting first round of playoff matchups, if I'm going to be honest. To start out, we had the Baltimore Hawks facing off against the Philadelphia Liberty. Although the Liberty were able to jump ahead first with a field goal, it quickly became apparent that they were overmatched. Star QB Childish Gambino was able to pull ahead quickly with a TD to Viggo Squanch, then extended the lead again on another pass to Vinny Valentine. Marquise Brown would later add two more scores rushing before Gambino went for the dagger to Maddox. The Liberty would only score one touchdown in garbage time as the Hawks would go on to win, 34 - 13.

I had predicted that my beloved Orange County Otters would upset the San Jose Sabercats. Alas, that bold prediction would not come to fruition. Despite starting off strong by scoring the first ten points with a field goal and TD run by Apollo Reed, the Otters ultimately failed to keep their momentum going. The Sabercats scored the next 20 points unanswered off of two field goals, a pass from Joliet Christ to Cameron Olsen, and a rush from Christ as they went into halftime. The Otters seemed to have some life in them when Reed scored another TD to make it a six point game, but the Sabercats continued to pile it on before winning it, 37 - 17.

2. Underdog - 213 words (6/10/19)

There are a lot of things going against the Orange County Otters in this years playoffs. For starters, they just closed out the season on a loss to the worst team in the league - the Colorado Yeti. This was a shock to us all, and it took away a lot of momentum from the Otter team. On the flip side, the San Jose Sabercats are looking great, finishing the season strong with a convincing win over Arizona as they claimed the second best record in the league. To many, it looks as though San Jose will be in a great position to win and repeat. However, I feel that the Otters are more than capable of pulling off the upset. This year has been extremely weird when it comes to the sim - the Otters are a much better team than this record suggests. There is no way they should have lost 6 games this year. They have a solid cast of players, and I feel that since it is the playoffs, they will step up and show everyone what they are capable of. Don't sleep on Showbiz, I'm confident he will play well above the level he played at during the regular season. I'm predicting a 24-20 victory for Orange County.

7) Next year - 212 words (6/12/19)

Next year is the time for Orange County to be back on the map as the NSFL's premier dynasty. We've made the playoffs the last 15 seasons, and there is no way we start missing it now. This was a fluky year, with an abnormally bad year out of Gus T.T. Showbiz that included interceptions coming at the most inopportune times, and losses that left everyone scratching their heads. We lost to the Yeti at home for Leaf's sake, that should have never happened. One of the brightest spots is having the young talent of Apollo Reed at running back, as he proved to be a great addition to our team as a rookie. Along with him, there was a lot of young talent in the most recent draft class that made their mark along with others that will soon be brought up from the DSFL. Lanzer Grievous comes to mind as a great up-and-comer that should be called up and will make an impact next season. I also plan on being a better defensive tackle than I was this year, and hopefully the results of my hard work are reflected on the field. We have been eliminated, and that stings, but looking forward to next year...I know that we are contenders.

5) Spotlight on Youth - 214 words (6/17/19)

The Baltimore Hawks came through as the victors in this years Ultimus after an insane blowout, shutting out the Sabercats 49-0. However, I don't want to talk about the Hawks, I want to talk about one of their rising rookies on the defensive side of the ball. With their first pick (12th overall), the Hawks selected Fatih Terim, a very talented safety in the S15 draft. There were some high expectations out of him, and he delivered with his play throughout the season. During the regular season, Terim racked up 47 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble. It is clear that the Hawks found a reliable starter, but how would he affect their playoff run? In their first game against the Liberty, Terim was fairly quiet but contributed 4 tackles. In the championship game, though, he played a much bigger role, leading the team with 7 tackles while also forcing a fumble. Terim was a wrecking ball out there against San Jose, and although the final score was substantially one-sided, it seems that the rookie did all he could to be a factor in their victory. I believe it is obvious that Terim has done a great job for the Hawks, and will continue to do so for seasons to come.

1. Playoff Predictions 251 Words

Kansas City Coyotes (7-7) @ Portland Pythons (7-7)

The rivalry has been somewhat renewed this season with the Coyotes becoming relevant again in the NFC after going a depressing 2-12 last season. This season the NFC was much more competitive as a whole and the top 2 teams ended the year with the same record before facing off for supremacy in the first round of the playoffs. The two teams met 4 times this season with the record being completely even at 2-2. Both teams were undefeated at home this season against one another and that could spell disaster for the Coyotes, however Portland did finally have their home winning streak come to an end when the Solar Bears came to town in week 11. Both teams finished the season with a loss, so both teams are going to be hungry to get back in the W column in this heated rivalry. The point spread on this match up has not been higher than 14 points and that was way back in week 2 when the Pythons defeated the Coyotes 23-9. Every game since has been decided by no more than 9 points with two of those games being decided by less than 5. If that is any indication of how things will work out in the playoffs then look for the two defenses to come out firing on all cylinders. While this may be a biased prediction, I am predicting the Coyotes come away victorious 17-14 and go on to compete in the Ultimini.

4) Head to Head Matchups 212 Words

Lightsout Lewis - LB - vs Frankling Armstrong - QB -

While I'm sure that most people do not normally think of the QB matching up with the opposing MLB, just hear me out on this one. Franklin Armstrong is the undisputed leader of the Portland Pythons offense and I feel like you can say the same when mentioning Lightsout Lewis and his leadership for the Coyote defense. Both players are in their second year for their respective teams and both players have a lot of experience playing against one another. From Lewis's days in Portland to becoming a force for the Coyotes, he is very familiar with the talents of Armstrong. Everything in Portland runs through the mind of Armstrong and the same thing happens on the defensive side of the ball for Lewis and KCC. I think of this matchup as being reminiscent of the Ray Lewis vs Peyton Manning matchups. Peyton would make an audible at the line and Lewis would do the same and back and forth they would go. Two magnificent minds at the height of their position trying to out wit one another with their minds and not just their physical talents. I think that this match up is very underrated and something that I can't wait to see play out for the fifth time this season!

1. How has your transition to the NSFL been?

Answer: "It’s been great. Going into the playoffs year one and actually being in the starting lineup! It’s the dream."

2. You went from worst to first when you were drafted from the Coyotes to the Sabercats, what has that change been like?

Answer: "It’s been an awesome ride being on both teams. I have love for the Sabercats and Coyotes and feel like I was able to contribute to both teams these past two seasons. Seeing the Coyotes going to the playoffs is so awesome and I hope they win it all!"

3. Who is your favorite team to play against so far in the NSFL?

Answer: "I love playing against the Otters. There’s a history between our two teams and I’m happy to now be a part of it."

4. Is there anything that you miss about the DSFL?

Answer: "I think the biggest thing I miss about the DSFL is being at the top of the league in my ability. Now it’s another start towards the bottom and working my way up."

In closing, I would like to thank Cameron Olsen for his time and for being a teammate of mine in the DSFL, not that it was really by choice, but I enjoyed playing along side him in college and the DSFL. Now that we managers for the Coyotes it is nice to be teammates still, but I also look forward to finally playing against him regularly when I join the Chicago Butchers.

19) Expansion Teams 240 Words

Lightsout Lewis - Chicago Butchers

I am very excited that I was the first overall pick for the Chicago Butchers and I honestly can not wait for the next NSFL season to begin so that we can finally make our debut. Our team is still awaiting the much anticipated expansion draft, however in our first draft as an organization our general managers took a very obvious path in how we want to build our franchise: DEFENSE. With one of our managers already being one of the top defensive lineman in the league, we decide to put the best players that we could behind him by taking two linebackers, the top rated corner, and an awesome piece at safety. The Butchers will be very young on the defensive side of the ball, but we also have 5 very active players on that side of the ball that should help propel this defense from the inception of our team. In the upcoming expansion draft I do wonder if we will continue our defensive way of choosing players or if we will begin to focus on the offensive side of the ball. Already having one of the best receivers in the league with Kazimir Oles, we must find ways to take the pressure off of him so that he can be used to his full potential. All in all, I can't wait to see how things shake out for us, it will be interesting to say the least!

Playoff Predictions, Reviews:

NSFC Championship Game: Philadelphia Liberty @ Baltimore Hawks

The best team in the NSFL this season, the Baltimore Hawks, host the Philadelphia Liberty in the NSFC Championship Game. The Hawks are the clear favourites in this game and I don't expect them to fall short of expectations. Their offense has been otherworldly this season, leading the league in every category except for rushing, which is odd because they have the best running back in the league in Marquise Brown. The Liberty are going to have their hands full with the Hawks offense and I can't see their defense stopping them. Gambino is having a career season and with all the weapons he has, he will feast in this game. Baltimore wins 37-24

ASFC Championship Game: Orange County Otters @ San Jose SaberCats

The best rivalry in the NSFL meets again in the ASFC Championship Game. The defending champion SaberCats host the Otters in what should be a tough, close game. The SaberCats calling card, once again, has been their defense. They are the best in the league at every category and have dominated games all season. The Otters are bringing a very balanced team to this game, both offensively and defensively. They need to find a way to crack this vaunted defense and that falls on the shoulders of Showbiz. Can he expose a defense that hasn't been all season? I don't think he can. San Jose wins 28-13

Underdog

I'm going to try and convince you, and even myself, that Philadelphia has a chance to beat the Hawks in the ASFC Championship Game. I know, tall task, but bigger upsets have happened. The Liberty have a talented roster and can beat Baltimore, as they showed in Week 13, winning 30-17. Let's examine how they can advance to the Ultimus Championship Game.

The biggest thing the Liberty can do is shut down Marquise Brown. He's the best running back in the league so easier said than done, but the Hawks rushing attack hasn't been as big as their passing offense. In that Week 16 game, they limited Brown to just 70 yards rushing. Once they shut down Brown, that let their defense focus more on the passing game and it worked. Gambino threw 3 interceptions and averaged just 11 yards per completion. Once the threat of Brown was gone, it made the offense easier to read.

The Hawks defense is great, but it can be had. Philadelphia needs to control the time of possession to keep the defense on the field and tired. Vander Jones will be huge in that regard. If he can run like he did in Week 13, putting up 116 yards, that makes the Liberty's job that much easier.

Baltimore is the heavy favourite and I think they win, but Philadelphia has the game plan to stop Baltimore. Slow down Brown, control time of possession, and attack a tired Hawks defense. Let's see if they can repeat that Week 13 performance in the playoffs.

All about the QBs

I can't wait to watch the next round of Joliet L. Christ versus Gus T.T Showbiz. It's been one of the best rivalries in the NSFL and we get another match-up in the ASFC Championship Game. Let's breakdown this quarterback match-up.

Once again, Showbiz was the busier of the two, throwing 594 passes to Christ's 465 passes. A big discrepancy, which helped Showbiz put up around 600 more yards. They both had a very similar completion percentage and quarterback rating so not much to pick between the two there. Raw numbers, Showbiz threw for 25 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, while Christ threw 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. For having thrown over 100 more passes, only throwing two more interceptions is good for Showbiz. The touchdown numbers are far apart as the SaberCats had trouble throwing the ball into the end zone this season. The biggest advantage Christ brings is in his feet. He put up 656 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. Showbiz ran for 129 yards and 1 touchdown.

Looking at the numbers, once again Showbiz is a bigger part of his team's passing offense than Christ is. He carries a huge load and has put up great stats once again. Christ has the talent to match his numbers, but doesn't really get the chance that Gus does. The reason I give the advantage to Christ is because of the threat of the run. The SaberCats know Showbiz is throwing the ball and can defend for that. Christ is a huge threat to run that the Otters need to game plan for it. Christ can fake for runs and get the defense off their coverage and complete passes to his receivers. It's going to be another fantastic edition of Christ vs. Showbiz, but I have the advantage going to Joliet L. Christ.

Spotlight on Youth

I think it's clear that the young player that can make the biggest impact in this season's Ultimus Playoffs is Philadelphia Liberty running back Vander Jones.

Vander Jones, drafted in Season 13, was second in the league with 1195 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns. He was a huge part of the Liberty offense at a young age and he was fantastic. He's going to have a tough task ahead of him against the Hawks in the NSFC Championship Game, but he has put up solid numbers against them. He had 183 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns against Baltimore in two games this season, so he has been able to find gaps in their defense. Jones has been a revelation for Philadelphia, especially since they lost Marquise Brown to the Hawks in free agency. Jones has filled a huge need for the Liberty and he's performing better than they ever expected. As a young player in this league, it's tough to make a name for yourself early on, especially at a tough position like running back. Vander Jones has busted through and made it known that he's a star in this league.

The playoffs are where you make your name, though, and this is Jones' chance to make his mark. He's up against the best team in the NSFL this season and the title favourites. It's his chance to become a young star in the NSFL.

In an affair that could only be matched by the real-world stomping of the 2013 Denver Broncos, the S15 Ultimus was a one-sided match-up decided handily by a score of 49-0, with the win going to the Baltimore Hawks. The game started poorly for the SaberCats, going three-and-out on their first possession. The Hawks followed that up with a five minute scoring drive, a sneak preview as to what they had in store for San Jose the rest of the game. The SaberCats briefly regained some hope, stringing together a couple first downs after a nice return from Kazimir Oles, but ultimately that series led to a punt. The SaberCats would go on to punt six more times this game, having one of them blocked. Special teams and defense shone through for the Hawks: to go along with their punt block they were able to secure a safety late in the second quarter to firmly put the game in their control. In total, the Hawks would convert for 23 first downs, compared to San Jose's 9, output almost twice as many total yards and three times as many passing yards as the SaberCats, and controlled the clock for nearly fifty percent longer than their opponents. Overall, a truly spectacular performance from the Hawks, more so than a dismal one by the SaberCats, and Baltimore was able to walk away as S15 champions.

3) All about the QBs
Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc.

I was very excited for what was supposed to be a showcase of premier quarterbacking talents in this year's Ultimus, as Childish Gambino of the Baltimore Hawks and Joliet L. Christ of the San Jose SaberCats were set to square off. Instead, only the Great Gambino made his presence known, as Mr. Christ was pummelled by an onslaught of Hawks defenders from the very first whistle. While Christ was running for his life, Childish Gambino was completing a cool 56% of his passes, which, while not amazing in it's own right, netted 421 yards and 5 TDs, good for 15 yards per pass and a TD nearly every 10 attempts. Gambino nearly tripled Christ's overall rating, putting up a healthy 117.2 compared to a 48.9 stinker by his counterpart. To be honest, it was one of the worst performances of Christ's season, who was third overall on the season in yards and completion percentage, but pretty typical for Gambino, who was the season leader in both categories. And while normally it is a reliable part of Christ's game, even the ground game was stagnant for the San Jose slinger, putting up a meager 30 yards on 7 attempts. Such disparity between passing giants who are so highly touted before the match might not be seen again for a very long time.


7) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.

Man, we were so close. I wasn't officially on the team, but only being a victory away from seeing the SaberCat green hoisted in the air one more time, it's a disappointing feeling. I can only hope that when I step on the field for the first time in the NSFL in S16, I make my impact felt to its fullest extent. We are going to be losing one of the great NSFL wide receivers in Kazimir Oles, so there is a big void to fill, but the way San Jose has drafted these past couple seasons should more than make up for the target share lost. Joliet L. Christ is coming into his prime, entering his sixth season as a pro, and just in time for me to make the impact I need to. A balanced distribution, coupled with a strong run game from both the halfback and quarterback positions, and topped with one of the best defenses in the league, that is a recipe for success. Baltimore has some moves to make if it wants to draft a class this year, already being at maximum cap, and that might limit their ability to go the distance this year. They are the only team that could stop us, and the S15 Ultimus is not indicative of the results of a rematch in the S16 Ultimus.


10) Rivalries
Written: Write about another team and why they are overrated and why you want them to lose.

I really can't say enough bad things about the Portland Pythons. Where do I even start? Their city stinks, their players are obnoxious, and the only thing worse than those two is their play on their field. But wait, Norfolk didn't make the playoffs and the Pythons did, clearly that means they are better? Absolutely not. In week 13, with tiebreakers being set and matchups being drawn, the cowardly snakes rolled over for the Kansas City Coyotes, just so they wouldn't have to face a humiliating round 1 loss to their most hated rivals. How pathetic do you have to be to willfully lose to an inferior team so that you can take home a participation trophy in round 1, only to get absolutely dismantled in the next round? Portland pathetic, that's how pathetic. I could live a hundred years without the Pythons making the DSFL playoffs again, and honestly the world would probably rebound out of whatever funk it's in right now. Poverty? Gone. Housing? Sheltered. Hunger and thirst? Satisfied and sated. Instead, Portland continues to push it's atrociousness on the world, deteriorating the overall living quality, and bringing sadness to millions of children every day. Great freakin job. Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review the game.

I am reviewing the heartbreaking Tijuana loss to Palm Beach in the first round of the DSFL playoffs. The Luchadores were coming off a great regular season that saw them hold the best record in either division, and they looked to ride that success all the way to the Ultimini. Unfortunately, the Solar Bears had other plans.

The first quarter already spelled disaster for the Lucha, as the Solar Bears went up 17-0 thanks to two rushing touchdowns, one set up by a Havran interception which would become the theme for Tijuana this game. The Lucha were able to make up some ground in the second quarter, putting up 10 points to get within a touchdown at half. Unfortunately Palm Beach would score the next two touchdowns in the third quarter, once again on two rushing touchdowns. Unfortunately both scores were once again set up by Havran interceptions. Havran ended up throwing five interceptions on the day, which paired with his zero touchdowns and sub 50% completion percentage, equaled disaster for Tijuana. Forrest Gump did his best to pick up the Luchadore offense, posting 142 yards and 3 touchdowns to go along with one catch. Unfortunately that wasn't enough as Tijuana fell 34-23 to the Bears, ending their fantastic season way earlier than expected. I didn't do much this game sadly, only one tackle for loss to go along with 8 tackles (and no sacks!!!). Definitely a disappointment.

That Magic Moment
Writen: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch.

I'm picking the turning point in the lone Tijuana playoff game: when the Solar Bears scored first in the third quarter. Palm Beach took a quick lead, scoring every point in the first quarter to go up 17-0 over the regular season champs Lucha. Luckily for Tijuana, they were able to claw their way back in the second quarter, thanks to some slick running by Tom Hanks, and the Lucha saw them going to the locker room at the half only down by a single touchdown. Not only that, but they were getting the ball back to start the second half.

The Lucha started deep in their own territory at their own 15 yard line. Tijuana was able to pick up a couple first downs, thanks to a couple long passes by Havran and a fourth down scamper from Tom Hanks. It looked like the Lucha may be in business. Unfortunately on the very next play, Havran threw another interception deep in Palm Beach's side of the field, stalling the potential tying drive. The Tijuana defense was able to force a three and out, and were able to set up near midfield for their next drive. After a quick first down disaster struck in the form of another Havran interception that was returned back to the Tijuana 24 yard line. Not only were the Luca unable to tie the game, but they gifted Palm Beach perfect field position.

It only took three plays for the Solar Bears to find the endzone, putting them up two touchdowns, and the Luca could never recover.

Next Year;

The Yeti had an abysmal season and it wasn’t for a lack of trying. They simply could not compete on the same level since they have lost so many players last offseason. Plus a lot of the players are getting older and while that will help the younger core of the team get better through mentorship, it does not help the team on the field with such a small core of footballers. McCormick had a balanced season, it wasn’t good but it was far from bad. It was a good season for him to go out on. James Bishop might account for a lot of those stats helping his quarterback not have a dreadful season like the season’s record showed. The upstart running back Taffy will be a force to reckon with in coming years. He had a decent year and will be great next year and will be relied on heavily as the Yeti have yet to name a quarterback. There is no Logan Noble running around the league for the Yeti to use in the interim so it’s likely they will draft one this offseason. I wouldn’t count them out next year but I can definitely see the Yeti returning to the playoffs in 2 years and maybe an Ultimus in 3.

Strategies;

Colorado must make drastic changes to their team without selling out their future. The future is all they have. This draft class and the next will play large roles in the Yeti’s ability to make a championship. Aside from the draft they must somehow convince a group of free agent players to come to their team in a time of need. The Yeti are not flashy but they are an up and coming team and that is how they will make their argument. We may not have all the pieces right now but we are on the edge and want you to be a part of that transition. You make our team instantly better and you will stand out for it. So there are two steps to making the team better. Free Agency and the Draft. But is there another avenue? Yes. The team’s strategy on the field was lackluster. They must play to players strengths and not just a generic template. If you have a guy like Taffy who can do it all you need to play him in exotic plays designed to confuse the defense. He can stretch the field, play the slot, block the edge rusher and run up the middle. That is a recipe for success.

Rivalries;

This team isn’t overrated but I still want them to lose. The Baltimore Hawks should not be allowed into the Ultimus. Don’t get me wrong, they have a lot of respectful players and are managed by a group of great individuals. Childish Gambino could be one of the best passers in the league… ever. Errol Maddox is a phenomenal wide receiver looking to break out of Vinny Valentine’s shadow. Both of which make up the best wide receiving duo in the NSFL bar none. But they have this running back who I believe came to the team with the sole purpose of winning a championship. He came from the Liberty who were doing well but not good enough. Instead of helping the team get where they needed to be he left and put them in a spot where they haven’t been able to recover. Their running backs recently have left something to be desired. Once the Hawks win the trophy what will he do? Will he stay with the team in hopes of more championships or will he look to the next big team. I for one hope that the Liberty defeat the Hawks like they did last year just for the look on his face.

Underdog;

This is certainly not a knock against the San Jose Sabercats but the Orange County Otters certainly can get the job done as they have shown in the past. Maybe the real Gus TT Showbiz shows up. He has not looked like himself all season but this could be the kick that he needed. He has all the weapons that he needs in Johnny Blaze, Sunnycursed, Carlito Crush, and Django Anoa’i. He even has a good runner in Apollo Reed that he can rely on when his receivers need a rest. This will be an offensive showdown no doubt. But if Gus doesn’t show up, his team is toasty. Gambino will certainly be on point so it will be up to the defense to not make any mistakes. One small mistake could be the difference between victory and defeat. I don’t see this one being a blowout by any stretch but I think the Otters can pull this one off. I bet they will take the game by a field goal late in the game. What they need will be someone near the end who can be a time consumer. They might even get it to overtime which will incite hysteria. Good luck and have fun!

1) Playoff Predictions

Round 1 of the DSFL playoffs starts today and the match ups are going to be good ones. First, I'll talk about Tijuana Luchadores vs Palm Beach Solar Bears. This game is going to be rough for the Solar Bears as they have lost all 4 games to the Luchadores during the regular season. This could be the upset of the year however, but I'm still betting on the Luchadores to take this one. The Luchadores have one of the best running backs in the DSFL right now in Forrest Gump, and the veteran DSFL player Corvo Havran at quarterback. This deadly duo will be a real issue for the Solar Bears to keep up with. Next up is Kansas City Coyotes vs Portland Pythons. This could turn out to be the best game of the playoffs. They split their 4 game series with both teams winning their games at home. Given that Portland is at home this time around, that could sway the final result in their favor, but don't count out the Coyotes to pull out an upset. The Coyotes have the best secondary in the league and a running game that is quickly making waves in the league. (201 Words)

3) Next Year

Next year is the year of the Coyote. We showed so much improvement over the last season that with a fresh new squad of rookies, we can make it to the Ultimini for sure! Our game against the Pythons was a rough one but one that was kind of predictable. We had traded wins all season while the other team was at home so this seemed like it wouldn't be any different. The only issue with it is that we didn't think it would be that rough. Penalties absolutely demolished us like they had in our previous showings against the Pythons and we just couldn't get the ball rolling on offense. We created turnovers but those turnovers were ultimately for naught as penalties on both sides of the ball gave them first down after first down. Next year we'll have a more seasoned team and we will work on our mistakes in order to push ourselves to the Ultimini. I believe in the Coyotes and I believe they can be champions. With the expansion looming in the NSFL, the DSFL will have less players to work with, but that also means other teams will be in the same boat. Send downs will be few and far between so it'll be up to the rookies to show up and show out.

4) Strategies

The strategy for the Coyotes was to build our defense around the ability to slow down the running game and keep up with fast receivers. We did well throughout the season in those regards, but we figured out our game winning strategy a little late in the season. If we could turn back time and start out our season with what we know now, we may have had home field advantage in the playoffs. Our offense was almost completely centered around Jay Quick and Smith Jon, our running backs. We didn't necessarily have the speed on the sides to allow Rose Jenkins to stretch the field so we centered our mid to late season strategy around slowing the game down on offense in order to keep theirs off the field. This worked in many of our games by allowing our defense to rest and have fresh legs going onto the field for their turn. This ultimately failed us in the playoffs but a lot of that was due to going against the stout defense that the Portland Pythons built. I think it's hard to know how to improve on this strategy for next season as we'll have a new QB and many new defensive players to build our strategy around.
