As many of his fans already know, in his free time Andrew Witten is an avid disc golfer. Going to college in Cincinnati, Witten was exposed to the sport which is very popular in that area. In fact, Idlewild, a course very close to Cincinnati is one of the best courses in the whole world. The sport is physically and mentally challenging. It takes extreme focus for each throw and one lapse of focus can result in a bogey or worse. Witten loves getting outside and throwing plastic, either by himself which is relaxing, or with others, where his highly competitive nature is challenged.
Off the course, Witten also enjoys playing basketball, ultimate frisbee, and any other outdoor sport or game. When not playing sports, Witten can be found playing cornhole, spikeball, or board games. He is a fierce competitor, and spends most of his time competing, even off the football field. His only non-competitive activities that Witten really enjoys are music-related. A musician his whole life, Witten plays guitar and piano, but his real talent is in singing. He sings solo, in quartets, and in large choirs and choruses. He also has experience conducting and composing music. Because quarantine is limiting Witten's ability to compete or make music with other people, he has spent a lot of time with his miniature schnauzer. He loves dogs and is training his dog with a backyard agility course. ![]() ![]()
During the weekends and quarantine when outside of the football stadium, Jamar Lackson loves to play Madden, especially by creating his own player and seeing how the season will go, things that feel sluggish in the game about himself, and fix them in practice the next week. Another one of Lackson's favorites is just hanging around with the people in the locker room, whether that be video games, or even support Sim Snowbow's secondary ambition besides being a football player, to be a video game streamer! Other hobby's of Lackson include sleeping for 12 hours a day on the weekends, which actually doesn't slow him down at all during the day, considering his other hobby of non-practice related exercise, and the new state of the art virtual reality football training simulation. Unlike the newest football game for his Xbox Infinite, Lackson uses this new virtual reality system to practice his patent-pending spin move that has defenders fooled for season to come. Finally, his last hobby is cheering on his NSFL team, the San Jose Sabercats, as he has been a die hard fan since learning about the NSFL, he goes to the games whenever he can, so really Lackson never takes a break from football in his life.

It is true that Skywalker dominates on the field, but when there is time to spare, Luke spends his free time on a different field. Every morning, Skywalker goes out into his backyard and spends at least an hour with his garden, tilling the ground, adding in another scoop of fertilizer or manure here and there, getting rid of the pesky weeds and the occasional slug that seems to want to feed on the growing onions. Luke loves his little garden and makes sure to water it daily and give the plants words of encouragement (and the occasional scolding. After reading “Good Omens” by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Luke became intrigued with how Crowley raised his ferns, and started including gentle to severe scolding to the plants that are failing him). Luke plans to raise enough food to feed a small army, or at least a family of four, with any and all meals that can be prepared with lettuce, onions, rosemary, and peppers (so mostly salad).
Luke also enjoys some time in the kitchen, where, due to the lack of yeast available in grocery stores, Skywalker has started growing what he calls his gridiron baby, a glass jar of sourdough starter. While the baby is still in development, Luke has high hopes that within a week or two, he will have enough starter to bake delicious sourdough to share with his team.
So, you see, Griff Oberwald is not just a football player, trying to make it here in the NSFL. He is also a well-known Blood Bowl Player. So, whenever Griff is not working on honing his skills to this “Football” you guys talk about all the time, he is seen on the pitch for his Blood Bowl team, the Reikland Reavers. He is seen there, bashing in skulls, scoring Touchdowns, and generally being the badass that he is. He has had troubles adjusting to the weak skills of the Football players, so he also decidedly plays video games such as NSFL Live on his computer, to try and adjust to such a sport. There has even been times he’s brought his Blood Bowl gear to his team’s locker room, much to the shock of his teammates. But yes, Griff is always honing his skills, either it be on the football field in Norfolk, or on his Blood Bowl Pitch in Reikland. Griff is an all-star athlete and is always doing everything in his power to strengthen himself, build his speed, and just continue to be the bad ass mother fucker he was born to be. Griff Oberwald is the one man that all aspiring children should look up to when they get older.
213 words ![]() Code: 257 words Quenton Bode has been a gamer his entire life. When he was at Nebraska, he and roommate Mo Berry would stay up all night competing in Madden. He plays games with and against his teammates in New Orleans; Bode's fiancee is a gamer as well, and the two often play video games to figure out who decides where to eat for dinner. Bode is also a voracious reader. He brings books with him on every road trip, and he has been known to spend entire flights on the team plane without once looking up from his book. Recently, however, Bode has decided that he needs a more productive hobby. He wants a way to pass the time, but also have something to show for it. So he's decided to take up crochet. Bode has always been amazed at some of the crochet creations he sees online; he figured that now would be as good a time as any to learn how to make them himself. It's not been easy: Bode is unusually large for his species, and crochet hooks are not made for bears in the first place. But he's approached it with the same drive he approaches football, and he's making steady progress as a result. He's made some small blankets and scarves, and although he's a long way from mastering those projects, he already has a goal in mind: making everyone on the Second Line roster a personalized hat to give to them at Christmas.
As one might have guessed through some of my media pieces, a great passion of mine is history, Even now, I find myself going back to Carole Hillenbrand’s The Crusades: Islamic Perspectives (Islamic Surveys) as delving further into the history of figures like Zengi, Salah ad-Din and Baibars provides a lot of insight for my own understandings of the world, and the world of American football. Through Zengi, I have learnt to be wise, and to know when to bring my aggression onto the field. Through Baibars, I have learnt that sometimes, one must completely destroy the enemy, in order to stop them from ever coming back; and through Salah ad-Din, one of the most noble rulers to come out of the Islamic golden age, I have learnt that one must carry a certain tact and poise on and off the field, in order to be the best figure possible. Outside of history, it’s important to keep fit. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing are two activities that I find incredibly fun. It is always nice to keep myself active in as many ways as possible, plus with the wrestling skills I have learned from BJJ, I should be able to tackle any player who’s annoying enough to intercept my passes.
210 Words prompt Wrote:Written Option: Football isn’t everything. In 200 words or more, describe what your player does for fun outside of football. Do they have any interesting hobbies or passions that they invest their time into? Are they in any athletic activities other than football? Do they sleep all day? What are they like off the field? Troen spent a chunk of the offseason putting in time in the weight room an getting his playing weight up by nearly 30 pounds while also working on increasing strength via the weight room. But that's all football realted, of course. The somewhat unexpected side effect of gaining the weight and muscle was how much more Troen's been needing to eat and how that's led to learning a lot more meals to cook. Troen's historically been more of a grilled chicken steamed carrots of broccoli, and pasta with tomato sauce kind of dinner person. With the additional nutritional needs, though, he's discovered the wonders of baked, broiled, and melted cheese on top of or in food. Starting off first with just using an Alfredo sauce instead of tomato for the calories, he moved on to the point of having a baked brie appetizer, lasagna main course, and a cheddar and Stilton with apricot plate to wrap things up. This has naturally been figured out in association with team nutritionists and planned for with regards to how much weight lifting, swim training, and other exercise Troen's been planning on doing, but there's still a concern that as he moves from gaining weight to maintaining it that he might overshoot the mark a bit given his gusto for the expanded cuisine options. For now, though, Troen's been planning more and more elaborate cheese meals with a souffle and a flaming saganaki planned for this weekend. ![]() Draft Steal (retired S35 CB) - Profile/Update | Wiki Troen Egghands (retired S22 DE) - Profile | Update | Wiki |
