(This post was last modified: 02-06-2021, 05:01 PM by Asked Madden.)
We are officially a quarter of the way done this season. Yes its still very early and anything can happen, however I'm broke and need some money and all I can ever write are mock drafts. I'll be doing a few of these through out the season and see how things shape up at the end.
1st Overall Pick: Baltimore Hawks
Team Needs: DT, OL, QB
The Hawks haven't had the hottest start to the season. 2 of their losses were absolute blow outs while they did give an entertaining game to San Jose and Philly. The Hawks will be able to remain competitive with the lower tier teams in their division but things could get ugly against the higher up teams. Baltimore is also very tight on the cap and may not be able to afford somebody who can be a call up immediatley. They only have 4 players hitting FA while Hanyadi is retiring. I wouldn't be surprised if this pick is eventually traded.
With the 1st overall pick the Baltimore Hawks will select: Prof. Godfrey Gravity DT
If this pick isn't traded, The Hawks will look to solidify their defensive line. They went defense with both 1sts last season by adding Miller and Waialiki but adding a stud DT in the mix on the DL is something they can't pass up. Gravity has had a big start this season racking up 25 tackles and 2 sacks. He's been a beast in the run game while finding a way to the QB. This could be a franchise player for the Hawks defense.
Second Overall Pick: Berlin Fire-Salamanders
Team Needs: DE, QB
Berlin has started the season off slow but I dont really expect that to last much longer. This is a team who is on the up and they can start doing some real damage in that division soon. They have a solid core of players who are reaching their prime and are set for the future.
With the second overall pick the Berlin Fire-Salamanders select: Glen Smart DE
Berlin only has 1 DE on the roster in MVP but he is a FA upcoming and the rest of the DL on the team are DT's. Smart has had a solid start to the season for London, being very active at 178 TPE and that carried over to 15 tackles and a sack so far. Smart seems to picking the pace up and can end up being a top 5 pick this season. The new Sim has been good to DE's so that makes him more intriguing at this pick.
3rd Overall Pick: Colorado Yeti
Team Needs: DT, CB, DE, RB
The Colorado have some needs across the defense but right now there's a particular player i think they'd be keen on. I dont expect to be Colorado picking here at 3rd overall when this pick is on the clock but if they are they're going RB. The Yeti have 2 RB's hitting FA and being a few seasons away from making a run at another ultimus, they'll let these 2 walk and go with a younger one.
With the 3rd overall pick, the Colorado Yeti select: Busch Goose RB
Playing as the #2 RB in KC, Goose hasn't gotten a tone of touches but has had some big plays when he's been given the chance. Averaging 4.5 yards a carry while having 2 catches and taking 1 for 46 yards. Also has found the endzone twice. This is a perfect spot for Goose to go.
4th Overall Pick: New Orleans Secondline :secodline:
Team Needs: OL, TE
New Orleans has found themselves in a very tough position this season. Droppimg 3 of their first 4 games this season has them in the basement of the ASFC, however their 1 win was a blowout W against the Sabrecats. NOLA has shown that if the pieces come together they can be a good team so I dont expect them to be picking 4th overall come draft time.
With the 4th overall pick the New Orleans Second Line selects: Stumpy Jones OL
With this pick they go OL. The Secondline get some help for their 2 young RB's in Jones. Jones is the top ranked OL right now in this class. Jones currently has 11 pancakes this season and has yet to allow a sack. NOLA will round out its offense by adding more beef to the line. Great value at this pick.
5th overall Pick: Arizona Outlaws
Team Needs: DE, OL
Tough start to the season for the Outlaws as they drop the first 2 games of the season, but they were able to bounce back and are on a 2 game win streak. The Outlaws dont have a ton of holes on the roster as they have some good talent in the DSFL awaiting a call so this is a tougher pick to predict.
With the 5th overall pick the Arizona Outlaws select: Mongo DE
With this pick the Outlaws find an active DE to add to the defensive line. Mongo has been a solid starter for Bondi Beach this season recording 9 tackles and 3 sacks. He has the speed and athleticism to cause havoc in the backfield and be a serious player in the ISFL after a likely being a send down year 1.
6th overall pick: San Jose Sabrecats :sabrecats:
Team Needs: OL, S, RB
San Jose started the season winning 2 games on the road but things got tough when they got home. After an entertaining win against Baltimore, the Sabrecats saw themselves drop 2 bad ones against NOLA and Honolulu.
With the 6th overall pick the San Jose Sabrecats select: Cade Williams
The Sabrecats dont have a single Ofdensive lineman on their roster and that needs to change. Williams is a big strong guard who can toss people around at the point of attack. He currently has 12 panckase with allowing 0 sacks in Tijuana. With a veteran group of RB's on the roster and a veteran QB, this pick would elevate all players on the offense as it adds extra protection to the OL and could save the team some cap down the road.
7th Overall Pick: Philadelphia Liberty
Team Needs: CB, DT,
Liberty are sitting at 2-2 which is a fantastic start for them after last season. They handed Honolulu their only loss of the season while also downing the Hawks in an entertaining affair. With the amount of depth this team currently has, this could be a pick that gets placed on the block come draft time. Look for a team to possibly move up and snag one of the QB prospects.
With the 7th overall pick the Philadelphia Liberty Select: Juno Hu CB
With Quinn and Hoffman both becoming FA's this season the Liberty are in need of a CB2. Hu has 12 tackles with 2 PD's so far this season. He is proving to be a lock down CB that can help give a boost to the liberty secondary. His stats may not be popping out but with the DSFL being a run heavy league those may be misleading. Solid pick by the Liberty here as they bolster the defense and find their future Corner.
8th Overall Pick: Austin Copperheads
Team Needs: RB, TE,
Austin is hoping a playoff spot is in their near future, as soon as this season. They were able to steal a win on the road in Colorado while also squeezing one out against Arizona. They have a tough schedule coming up but they could be a team that makes a real run in the ASFC.
With the 8th Overall Pick the Austin Copperheads select: Chunt the Badger WR
Austin is in the position to select highest TPE available regardless of position and right now thats Chunt. Chunt is the highest earner so far but being a WR has seen his draft stock fall a bit. Badger has 28 catches for 33 yards and 2 TD's so far this season for the Birddogs as well as being a solid Kick returner. He has returned 8 kicks for 138 yards as well as 12 PR's for 44 yards. Badger has the speed to be a big deep threat in the ISFL in the future.
9th Overall Pick: Sarasota Sailfish
Team Needs: LB, CB
The Sailfish are gunning for an Ultimus this season and their offense has show they are all about that. Avergaing 25+ points a game, the sailfish will be looking to shore up their defense and they can really sperate themselves with the rest of the NSFC.
With the 9th overall pick the Sarasota Sailfish select: Dexter Hall LB
The Sailfish have 2 of the highest TPE LB's on the roster and adding Dexter Hall rounds the group out nicely. Hall has been all over the field for the Coyotes so far this season with 18 tackles, 6 of which were for a loss as well as registering 1 sack. Hall will bring a bag of tricks to the D table will allow Sarasota to be flexible with how he plays.
10th Overall Pick: Orange County Otters
Team Needs: WR
The Otters Dynasty has seemed to slow down a little bit the last few seasons. While still being constantly in the playoffs, other teams have caught up to them and now the ASFC is a crap shoot every season. Ramza needs another WR to throw to and the Otters have to be looking for a new weapon for him in this draft. Luckily for them at this position the best available player is a WR.
With the 10th overall pick the Orange County Otters select: Saleem Spence WR
Spence has recorded 21 catches for 398 yards and 1 TD this season for Portland. Spence is a possesion receiver who has been a great target for 1st downs. Spence has had 66% of his catches go for a 1st down with his longest catch going for 68 yards. Spence could be an immediate threat for Ramza to use in that offense.
11th overall Pick: New York Silverbacks
Team Needs: DE, DT, RB
The Silverbacks have entered their 3rd season the ASFC regular season Champs, and they picked up right where they left off last season. New York came out of the gates guns firing going 3-0 with them losing their first game just recently against Arizona. New York needs to start looking at their DL and start working on that. Kearse and Thumper are both nearing the end of their careers and finding a future replacement is a suitable option.
With the 11th overall pick the New York Silverbacks select: Xavier Walls DE
New York gets the opportunity to draft Kearse eventual replacement by selecting Walls here. Xavier Walls is a promising talent currently playing for the Pythons. Walls has registered 12 tackles while also forcing a fumble. Another season in the DSFL and Walls rounding out his games, he can find some footing in New York and be a serious player for the Silverbacks in the future.
12th Overall Pick: Yellowknife Wraiths
Team Needs: DT, S, QB
The Wraiths are sitting in a prime spot to make another deep run at the Ultimus this season so I do expect them to pick around this spot come draft time. The Wraiths can go multiple directions here as they could use an upgrade at DT and find some help at Safety. They could also potentially grab their QB of the future here as well.
With the 12th overall pick the Yellowknife Wraiths select: Dexter Zaylren QB
There we go, the first QB off the board. Yellowknife could use help in other spots but no other picks really make much sense here. Zaylren currently has 814 passing yard while throwing 5 TD passes but also throwing 4 INTS. With Jack being under contract for another 5 seasons, Zaylren will need to use that time in the DSFL to clean his game up and stop the costly turnovers.
13th overalk pick: Honolulu Hahalua
Team Needs: None.
Honolulu has done a phenomenal job Drafting and don't really have any glaring needs on the team. This seems to be the season Honolulu makes their mark on the league and announce their arrival of the top tier teams in the league. Big props to their management team for how this roster sizes up.
TRADE ALERT TRADE ALERT TRADE ALERT
Yes a trade. This is a spot in the draft where we can see some teams move around. Here I am predictions that the Baltimore Hawks will move up here for a package of draft picks.
With the 13th overall pick the Baltimore Hawks select: Ishe... Reallyinvisible QB
With a new regime coming in to Baltimore they may look at shaking things up. Fujiwara is set to have her best seaosn of her career this year but Baltimore still needs to find their QB of the future. While Fujiwara will still be around for a few seasons, Reallyinvisible is a QB prospect that can't be missed. He currently has 514 yards through the air while having 4 passing TD's to only 1 interception. He has also accounted for 122 rushing TD's for 1 TD on 21 carries. A very exciting player for the Hawks to add to get fans excited about the future.
14th Overall Pick: Chicago Butchers
Team Needs: DE, WR
The Butchers are primed to bring home an Ultimus trophy this season. After failing to reach the ultimus last season they've come back this season with a vengeance. They've had not shortage of scoring this season and it doesn't seem like they are slowing down anytime soon. Their big needs are DE and WR. The WR core is thin only having 2 on their roster and one being a S19, as well as 1 being down in the DSFL. As for DE, they only have 1 inside their organization and can use some help getting to the QB.
With the 14th overall draft pick the Chicago Butchers select: Luke Quick WR
To close out the first round the Butchers bring in another WR. Quick is a great pick at this spot as it gives more stability to their WR core. Scabbia is the clear #1 for the foreseeable future, O'Leary is reaching the end of his career and Mike Hunt is waiting in the wings for a call up. Quick currently has 17 catches for 280 yards and 2 TD's averaging 16 yards a catch. Only knock on Quick is his 6 drops so far but with him likely spending a 2md season in the DSFL that should get fixed by the time he gets called up.
This concludes my 1st mock draft of the season. A lot can change between now and the draft, so please take this all with a grain of salt. Thanks for reading and ill see you guys halfway through the series where we look at what has changed and who's stock rises and who's stock falls harder than Game stops has.
