Next tuesday, February 16th, marks one real life year anniversary of the season 22 draft class. The class, which is still the single biggest draft class in ISFL history with 284 total prospects by ISFL draft time. Needless to say, the members of this class had made significant contributions to the league and community of ISFL both player and user wise. So, with the aforementioned year mark approaching and S22 players nearing their career primes, I thought it would be a good idea to make an article looking over the careers of S22 players.
However, because of the sheer size of S22 class, it'll be very impractical for both the reader and the writer to do all of them in one article. So I divided the articles by position groups. Even then, I will only mention players who had some impact on the ISFL level, as there are too many players even after the divide.
Starting off the series, we'll be looking at the wide receiver class. I selected this player group not only because it's the position my player play, but also because the group was involved in a very interesting dynamic during the ISFL draft time. Back in the time, the stars of S22 class were the defenders. Cornerbacks, safeties and Defensive tackles to be exact. As defense is always on high demand, those positions went off the shelves instantly. And that run on the defense caused offensive players to slide a lot ij general, with wide receivers seeing the most decrease of draft position presumably due to them being easy to replace in other drafts. It wasn't like S22 wide receiver class was bad, by any means. The class had quite a few max earners at the time, and was one of the stronger positions of S22 class as a whole. They just ended up collectively sliding as a result of draft dynamics. And after time, the WRs had been one of the most successful position groups of S22, making a strong point for their true value.
Well... that was enough drabble. Let's get into the main thing!
The first wide receiver to be drafted in S22 draft was Eddie Jeeta, who was selected by the Austin Copperheads towards the mid thrid round with the 31st overall pick. Entering the draft, Jeeta was unanimously viewed as one of the top prospects on the position. He was a max earner who had a good build, and the user, Quirkyturtle, was a great locker room presence with great graphic skills to boot.
Jeeta didn't disappoint the copperheads. He continued to max earn deep into his career, and he currently sits at 906 TPE. He has been a productive wide receiver, and made the pro bowl in S25. As a user, Quirkyturtle lived up to the hype he had coming onto the draft. He continued to be a great locker room presence for the Copperheads from what I've heard from the people there, and I remember that I enjoyed interacting with him very much. Quirky also made big contributions to the community with his graphic skills as a member of dotts team. He made a lot of great looking cards, and I know that I greatly enjoyed my player's card that he made. Although he's currently out of touch because of irl stuff, Eddie Jeeta and Quirkyturtle had a great career after a year.
The next wide receiver to be drafted was my player William Lim, who was selected by the Colorado Yeti with the very next pick. Coming in to the draft, I was regarded as one of the top receiver prospects. I was a max earner, and a good user with more than decent locker room presence and a fat bank account to boot. However, I also had some drawback in the form of my sucky DDSPF 16 possession receiver build. The Yeti gave me a chance despite that drawback, although I later changed my build to a better one.
Over the seasons, I have been a good receiver. I was able to get the WR1 spot in my second season with Yeti, and has beed produtive ever since. I was even lucky enough to get accolades like S23 breakout player of the year, S24 WROTY and 4 pro bowls. User wise, I think I made some contributions to the community through my DSFL GM and rookie mentor jobs, along with the media articles I used to write. So, all in all, I'd say I lived up to the expectations the Yeti put on me when they drafted me.
The next wideout to be drafted was Michael Witheblock, whom the Sarasota Sailfish selected with the 36th overall pick. Witheblock, again, was considered a top receiver along with the 2 that went before him. He was also a max earner, and a great user with locker room presence and several articles analyzing the sim if I remember right.
And I have to say, Witheblock exceeded the expectations Sailfish must've put on him. As a player, he was a more than productive receiver, and had quite a few accolades so far into his career such as S24 offensive breakout player of the year, S26 wide receiver of the year, and 3 pro bowl appearances. Currently, Witheblock is the highest TPE S22 wide receiver with 1245, so the fact that he max earned goes without saying. However, the real extent of contributions comes from the user side of things. Sakrosankt, the user behind Witheblock, has been serving as the GM of the Sailfish for a few seasons now. And he played a major role in the success Sailfish had ever since their entrance to the ISFL through S22 expansion. On top of that, he also serves as an auditor, and he's a great guy overall, which I can tell from the interaction I had with him as a prospect in Honolulu public chat. All in all, sakro is one of the most actively contributing users out of this wide receiver class, if not the S22 class in the whole.
The fourth wide receiver to be drafted was Thomas Passmann, as the Arizona Outlaws selected him with the 44th overall pick in the 4th round. Passmann, like the three before him, was a max earner. And he was renowned for his unique articles which he wrote since before the DSFL draft.
Passmann was a hit for the outlaws. He continued to max earn after he got drafted, and he currently has 1051 TPE to his name, which amounts to 3rd among all S22 wide receivers. He has been a reliable target for Jay Cue and now Charlemagne Cortez, and he appeared in the pro bowl for S24 season. User wise, StamkosFan has been consistently writing the famous media pieces of his, and I have to say that I enjoyed his stories very much. And while I never had much interactions with the user, I think he's a great person to be with based on his articles.
5 picks later, the Honolulu Hahalua selected William Alexander with the frist pick of 5th round (49th overall), making him the fifth overall wide receiver selected in the draft. Heading into the draft, Alexander was considered a very solid prospect. He was earning at a good rate at the time, and wrote several articles.
As a hindsight, I have to say that Alexander has been a bit underwhelming in the ISFL to be honest. Although he's still in Hahalua roster and is contributing to their passing game, he currently sits at 594 TPE, and has been inactive since august last year which is almost six months. He has been a solid WR2~ WR3 caliber player for the Hahalua through his career, but I don't think that's the role the team wanted him to assume long term. So yeah... while I think that user morsy is a good guy to talk with from what I've heard of him, this pick sure leaves some disappointment in hindsight especially considering the names selected after him.
The next wide receiver selected was Nick Kaepercolin, who was selected by the Baltimore Hawks with the 57th overall pick towards the end of 5th round. Kaepercolin was a max earner, and a very active user in discord who also wrote a few articles. I suspect that the only reason behind him falling to this point of the draft is his late start.
Kaepercolin was a massive hit. He continued to max earn to the point of being one of the highest earners in the class, and he produced well for the Hawks. Kaepercolin now plays for the Berlin Fore Salamanders after his user got the expansion GM job there, and changed positions to quarterback in order to help his team out. User wise, Highhaschdi has established his place as one of the most accomplished users of the S22 class. He served as the GM for London Royals for a few seasons, before getting the expansion bid that later became the Berlin Fire Salamanders, which he still serves as the GM until this day. High has been a great GM for Berlin so far, and he succeeded to minimize the struggles as the team went through the rough seasons immediately following their inception. Apart from the fact that he contributed greatly to the league by creating a good team and a good locker room community, high also serves as an updater, which is a job that requires dedication in its own right. So I think we can safely say that high cemented himself as one of the best users in S22 class.
More than 10 picks later towards the end of round 6, the Orange County Otters selected Garfield Despacito Jr. Entering the draft, Despacito was one of the under the radar prospects, despite him earning in more than decent pace and being active in discord. That allowed the otters to grab him relatively late into the draft, way lower than his true value in my opinion.
Over the years, Despacito has been a sneaky good player to say the least. He continued to earn at a good pace, and currently sits at 970 TPE, which is good for 4th among S22 wide receivers.Through his career he has been a good players in various roles, and so far had a pro bowl apperance back in S25 as the offensive flex for ASFC. User wise, Gwdjohnson had wrote several media pieces since he got drafted to the ISFL. And I think he's quite popular in Orange County locker room, as I saw a few people from that team sporting "we are Despacito" sigs the other day. So all in all, I'd say this pick worked out well for the both parties, as Despacito was able to find success as both player and a user.
With the very next pick, the Yellowknife Wraiths selected Susan Cash Jr. Back in the days before the DSFL draft, Cash was one of the more known wide receiver prospects, was considered a solid prospect who was max earning and active in locker rooms. Unfortunately for him, Cash's draft stock got lower by ISFL draft time as his earning pace and activity dipped a little.
For the Wraiths, Cash as a player wasn't that successful of a pick. Cash struggled to break through the deep Wraiths wide receiver room, and stayed down in the DSFL for a long time. And even after he got called up, he didn't have a lot of opportunities. That changed in an instant, though. When the S25 expansion came around, Cash was selected by the Berlin Fire Salamanders in the expansion draft. And for the inaugural season of the team, Cash was the primary target for Nick Kaepercolin, who used to be his fellow wide receiver in London. Although Cash relinquished the WR1 position that he held for 2 seasons prior to this season due to the emergence of Achtfünf, he's still seeing some productivity as WR2. As a user, 2Burkeulosis wrote a few articles through his first few seasons. And I remember him being active in general chat among other discords. While he had been out of touch for almost 3 months now, I think he made some contributions during the times he was active here. All in all, Susan Cash Jr. Is a prime example of players getting opportunity through expansion.
The next wide receiver to be drafted was Leeroy Jenkins. Jenkins was drafted by the Colorado Yeti with the 79th overall pick in round 7, making him the second wide receiver to be drafted by the Yeti that day. Coming into the draft, Jenkins was one of those "under the radar" prospects, as he didn't receive much attention from scouts despite his good earning level because he was not a flashy user who did media or had a lot of discord activity.
Jenkins was a massive hit for the Yeti. He continued to earn steadily over the years, and he currently sits at 936 TPE, which amounts to 5th among S22 wide receivers. And while he never had flashy stats, he has been a crucial part of Yeti passing game over the seasons that he had been a part of the team. As a user, dahayn is someone I had a lot of interactions with in Yeti locker room. He's a great guy to talk with, and was a great counter in the famous Yeti counting channel. He never complained that his role in the team wasn't flashy, and stayed loyal to the team although he had several opportunities to leave to take possible WR1 job in other teams. Even if he's currently away from the league because of some irl stuff, he contributed a lot to Yeti LR culutre, and in turn ISFL in general. I really hope that he returns someday.
3 picks later, the Orange County Otters selected their second wide receiver of the draft, Kevin Koh. Koh was one of the top wide receiver prospects by DSFL draft time, and he was drafted 4th among all wide receivers in that draft. However, his activity waned when some irl stuff popped up for him, and he was basically inactive by ISFL draft time. Orange County drafted him hoping that they can bring him back to activity.
Unfortunately, it seems like Koh stayed inactive despite the efforts. He currently sits at 154 TPE, and he never played a down in Otters uniform if I remember right. It was kinda sad to see him go IA, as I knew the user was a good person.
Almost 10 picks later, the Honolulu Hahalua selected Daymond Brooks with the 91st overall pick. Brooks, who was a good earner who was super active in discord, slid to this point mostly because of the late start he had like the case of Nick Kaepercolin.
The career path Brooks went through over the years is interesting to say the least. After being deafted by the Hahalua, he spent a season or two down with the Grey ducks. And when he came up to the ISFL, he got traded to the Chicago butchers if my memory serves right. And then, he switched positions to DT at some point, a position which he plays until this day. Through this process, Brooks maintained his good earning pace, and currently has 988 TPE to his name. And it seems like he has been a very productive defensive tackle for the Butchers over the seasons he was there. User wise, ForSucksFake was a very interesting person to talk with. He had a very keen sense of humor, and he always entertained people in discord. He was very active over at twitter, too. I still remember his muscular 'snorlax' that he posted. All in all, Daymond Brooks turned out to be a good player and a user after the long journey he went through.
The next wide receiver to be drafted was Mike Lee, who was selected 4 picks later than Brooks to the Yellowknife Wraiths. Lee, who had been a mid level to semi max earner through his season in DSFL, went mostly under the rader at draft time as his activity tended to be sporadic.
Mike Lee's ISFL career with the Wraiths went on a similar way with that of Susan Cash Jr., who was drafted a few rounds ahead of him. Like Cash, Lee had hard time getting a roster spot in very deep Wraith wide receiver corps, and had to spend some seasons in DSFL. He also didn't see a lot of action after he got called up. However, Lee didn't got a chance in expansion, as he went inactive before that happened. Currently, he sits as a 475 TPE free agent. User wise, youngcricket, or "dakiller" as he is known in discord, was a guy whom I had some interactions with in Dallas. He was a great guy to chat with, although he checked in sporadically. And I heard he was active in Yellowknife after he got drafted there, too.
New Orleans Second line was projected as a team with major wide receiver need back in S22 draft time. However, the team surprised the mock drafters by selecting their first wide receiver at the end of the 8th round. Blake Alexander was the player they selected. Alexander, who was a mid to low level earner, was projected to be drafted in relatively lower rounds, and that's where he ended up draft position wise. Alexander immediately got called up after draft as the Second Line did need some depth in wide receiver position, and saw some action in WR3 role. However, when the Second Line got more active and younger receiver prospects in the following drafts, Alexander was cut to make way for them. He currently sits as a free agent with 198 TPE.
With the exactly 100th pick of the S22 ISFL draft, the Arizona Outlaws selected Frederick Vequain. Vequain was a relatively low earner at the time, and he got drafted in a low round because of that.
However, Vequain has had a good career despite the disappointment of low draft position. Vequain spent some time down in the DSFL with the Luchadores, almost using all his DSFL eligibility if I remembered right. And then he opted to sign with the Austin Copperheads in free agency, and changed positions to tight end for more playing opportunity. Currently, he sits at the top of Austin's tight end depth chart, with a respectsble 698 TPE to his name. For sure, Vequain had gone through a long journey to find his place.
The last wide receiver that I'll talk about in thia article is Sean Snyder. Snyder was selected at the very end of the 9th round as the New Orleans Second Line selected him with the 108th overall pick. As a low earner coming into the draft, Snyder was selected as the last of the actives were going off the board.
Over the years, Snyder proved to be a steal in relations ti his draft position. Snyder picked up his earning pace after he was drafted, and currently has 811 TPE. He has been a great WR2 for the Second Line for several seasons before he got selected by the New York Silverbacks in the S25 expansion draft, and that's where he still plays to this day. As a user, DatSmolBoi wrote some media pieces, including the one about the Yeti's first Ultimus win that I enjoyed (definitely no bias included lol), and he was a really pleasant individuap to chat with from my interactions with him in the past. All in all, Sean Snyder has been a great player and a user through his time in here.
