(S3) - Weekend PT #6 - Highs and Lows

The season was quite a roller coaster for Benson Bayley who was in his rookie season. His first interception of the season against the Colorado Yeti was definitely the high point. He also had multiple Pass deflection games in which was very interesting for Benson Bayley. Those are the seasons in which he wanted to have rather than giving up big plays. There were multiple games in which he struggled to cover the opponent's best receiver. Those had to be the down point of the season. Now, with Benson Bayley being a rookie, it was expected that there would be struggles, but overall, he was happy with the first season. I think San Jose, if they could draft again, they may take him. Benson Bayley hopes to just get better from here to have all high points.

The big high point was that of missing the playoffs. Early on in the year, it looks like this team was going to make the playoffs. However, after struggling a bit, they faltered and ended up not making it. They hope and know that it will be a much better season next year with the development of the young players moving in the right direction.

Coming into the NSFL just this season and not being on a team so far there really has been no high point this season for Shawn Guy. However, hopefully in the future, Guy gets to experience a lot of highs in the NSFL/DSFL because Guy expects to be around for a long time and will be a loyal to the cause player as most kickers are. Kickers generally are a one team kind of players and you shouldn't expect any different from Shawn Guy who will be that kind of player.

The Lows have also been not that low since, I haven't been signed to a team yet. However, I guess a low would be me taking this long to become active in this league because of real life commitments but now I will dedicate myself to making my player and hopefully this league a better place. I look forward to what the future brings to Shawn Guy in the NSFL and hopefully there are that many lows. Another low would be not contacted by any DSFL GM's but again, that is mostly my own fault with not being active until now. I can't wait to see who contacts me and what my future in the DSFL/NSFL will hold as I intend on being in the HoF as a kicker.

The high point of the season this year for my player, Godfrey King, was his performance in the Arizona Outlaw's week 14 matchup against the Las Vegas Legion. The way Arizona played on its own should be enough of a highlight. The team was able to show why they are the most dominant in the entire National Simulation Football League, absolutely destroying one of the league's bottom tier teams, 45-0. The defensive unit for the Outlaws was equally as impressive, only allowing 3 third down conversions over 20 opportunities. Godfrey King had one of the most dominant games of his entire career thus far, producing an insanely good 4 sacks. The ability for last year's MVP, Jayce Tuck, to take a harder offensive lineman assignment, allowed King to matchup against a weaker opponent, and beat off the line more often than not. King cited it as a true team victory, with the Arizona Outlaws getting it done on both sides of the ball. He said his defense's teamwork has been impeccable this year, and week 14 really helped him feel the growth in camaraderie shared with Jayce Tuck, the duo's dominance on the defensive side of the ball has lead to them being nicknamed "The Gruesome Twosome," a name Arizona fans hope they will hear for a long time in the future.

Week 1 was a definite low point for Ridley, losing 55-10 after coming into the season with a big belief the Liberty defence would keep us in games, the blow of allowing 55 points against the Otters was deflating to say the least. Individually Ridley’s statistical performance only 1 sack as the sole registered statistic for Ridley in that game. I was honestly fearful I was going to be dropped down the depth chart, after 2 poor preseason showings partnered with my week 1 invisible performance I was very unsure.

Conversely the return game, welcoming the Otters into Taco Bell Stadium saw Ridley register 8 tackles and 3 sacks, including a late 4th quarter sack to help make Orange County’s field goal attempt as difficult as possible. This was also my first defensive player of the game awarded by the sim, however knowing I contributed positively to the performance of the team is always the best reward. As a team it felt great to win another close game and take another step towards the playoffs.

Although my performances have been up and down; I genuinely believe my performance this season has been overall positive, and I can’t wait for season 4.

Well for Luke Kraken this year, I would have to say hands down his low point was only getting to play in one regular season game this year. Though it will not be considered his rookie season in the DSFL, it is still disappointing none the less. Hopefully the only season luke will spend in the DSFL will be his rookie season. The high point this season for Luke is the fact that even though he was unable to play in more than one game, that the one game he did manage to play in resulted in a win, as well as recording his first ever professional football tackle in that win. Playing along side the soon to retire Ben Green has been a lot of fun as well. Apparently Luke and Ben played against each other in college several times, and had a lot of close and competitive games. now they play and compete for the same defense. Going into the playoffs this defense is the defense for the top team in the conference. Hopefully Luke's high point for the entire season will be when he hoists the DSFL title. As for Ben Green, It will be unfortunate to see him leave, but the rise of Luke Kraken should be enough for Ben's fans to take hold of.

Burnsmans High point was one of many things; like the draft, going in the 2nd round to a team that featured friends. The first game on the Otters where he took the league by storm setting a new league single game record for most tds scored in a game with 3 vs the Liberty. Or maybe it was finishing the season with 11 touchdowns to destroy the previous single season record, but just edging out league great Mackworthy by 1 td on the ground on the season. It is safe to say, Season 3 was Burnsmans high point in life.

Low points.. that could be the lockerroom drama between Leroy Jenkins, could be the lockeroom drama about where Boss may end up. Could be the infighting in regards to the D not doing their job to win games, relying solely on Boss to put up ridiculous numbers in order to lead his team to victory.
For Burnsman though, the true low point came while being swept by the wraiths, his former team, and the one who promised to draft him. He did not make them pay like he promised, but he still showed them they made a mistake with his record setting, historic rookie season.

Angus Winchester had a lot of high points this season. He started out strong, leading the league in several categories. By midseason he was well returned to his season 1 MVP form. However things started to slip away a bit and he watched his lead erode. Soon by the end of the season Tim Pest was the leading offensive lineman in the league, and will likely walk home with an award this season for it.

The low point though, was when Winchester realized he actually outperformed Pest this season, but nobody will know about it. The fact is that the schedules aren't equal. I have to play against the best defensive line in the league for 2 games a season. He doesn't. Instead he is playing against one of the worst, the Otters. If you look at the stats achieved those games Pest got 13 pancakes and Winchester got 7. Remove those two games and you get an apples-to-apples schedule and you can see that Pest had 62 Pancakes while Winchester had 68. Both still with 0 sacks allowed.

So although Winchester had a great season with high points all along, the low point is the knowledge that even though he is the best, he won't be shown as such.

Since playing on the offensive line is much more about the team than individual stats, Avon Blocksdale's highs and low are pretty much the same as the Hawks.

The low is the worst game of the season for the Hawks, when Orange County came into Baltimore and beat the Hawks in a bad blow out game. It was the first time Avon his S2 draft mates had lost a game at home in their careers, and in such a blow out fashion, was bad and embarrassing. Although Avon had 6 pancakes in the game, it was one of only two games on the season where Avon allowed a sack.

The high is certainly the opposite of that. Going into Arizona the Hawks were seen as significant under dogs, no one in the entire NSFL has expected the team to do well at all. And yet they won. The first team since Season 1 to win IN Arizona the Hawks completed one of the biggest upsets in the NSFL's short history. The ONLY downside is that the game was some how blacked out nation wide and NO one in the NSFL got to watch the game live. Fans of Baltimore were shocked to load the NSFL index page to see that their team won. Avon himself had a great game against the best defensive line in NSFL history, pancaking four guys, and allowing no sacks at all.

On the Orange County Otters there have been many highs and lows. For myself there was a lot of highs statistically but there were lows as well. I did everything I could all year to bring my team wins. I am the number one ranked receiver in touchdowns, yards, and number two in yards per catch. I have to say this is not only the best year for me statically but probably one of my best years to come as well. I might beat some of these records in the future but I honestly don’t see myself being number one in all of these categories or number two. I posted 86 receptions (tied for league high), 1625 receiving yards (league high), 12 receiving touchdowns (league high), and a 18.9 average yards per receptions (second in the league). The lows this year mean so much more than the highs. While myself and others were able to create tidal waves and set new league records we just couldn't seal the deal on some games. We posted 8 wins and 6 losses. That is one loss away from being as mediocre as they come. Luck would have it though that we were able to make the playoffs. I hope that our team can come together and bring home the Ultimus!
