WPT-1 Controversy:
Jayce Tuck the cheater. The man responsible for turning the first three seasons of the National Simulation Football League into a living Asterisk, the highest TPE player on the defensive line and a top ten player overall was a neckbearded multi, responsible for maintaining eight different players, all of whom ended up on the Outlaws in a twist of fate (or cheating by the Outlaws leadership and general managers.)
While the league head office has only offered a slap on the wrist of a one year suspension for Jayce Tuck, probably because they want him to come back and do all the roles he previously did, and take much of the work of managing this National Simulation Football league out of their hands and into the hands of a man who they do not have to pay. While the lazyiness of the head office and leadership of the league continue, the league readies to welcome their biggest cheater back into the fold.

Written: Must Include 150 Words. We all know about the controversy that has happened this offseason. Whether it was the stunning mass retirement, or the ringleader of a cult, write about how these controversies have changed the league in just a few weeks. Or write about how the teams have dealt with these changes.

I think the worst thing that might have come forth from this whole legion and multi ordeal is doubt. This might be a reason for people to shy away from the league, we have basicly 4 seasons of doubtful history now. Seasons filled with a man with like 9 multi's, beefing up the Outlaw squad dramaticly. Changing game outcomes and even playoff matches and cup winners.

I hope people can overcome that these last 4 season were in the start up period and hopefully in the future we can detect and prevent these things from happening and just keep on going with the league. Would be a shame if this lead to the leagues downfall.

The mass legion retirement sucked to see. I think some recreated with is good, but if you werent planning on staying, atleast let your player live, so that teams can fill out the rosters. You basicly killed one team by not wanting to be on the site anymore.

Well, after dealing with all the multis that have happened throughout this past season, it would be eaesy to write about the abuse of the multis and even mod abuse. But I'll write about something that was much more petty. The mass retirement. The fact that so many active players that put so much time into this league wanted nothing more than to harm it was disappointing to say the least. If they were truly unhappy about the league, there were a few options. 1) Leave the site. Don't retire maliciously and hurt the team you left. Go inactive, forget about the NSFL, and continue your life in peace 2) Bring up some issues with HO. HO has been much improved since the day I arrived on the site. They want to help. 3) Retire. But don't provoke others and your inactives to do the same. Don't ruin the Legion for the rest of the people that still have fun in this league.

All in all, it was a petty and childish thing to do by a lot of people. But it's in the past now and the S6 class is looking awesome. Soon, the drama of S4 will barely be a thought in anyone's head.

Obviously the Jayce Tuck scandal was the biggest headline of the offseason. Myself and head office were at the forefront of it and the fallout that resulted in a team catastrophically falling down the power rankings by the hour. After the information was processed the vote was passed on a punishment for Er. 4-1 it stood.

All multi's would be banned and the user ER would be given a season forum ban whereas his player would be given a season ban. The cry's of the public largely criticized the punishment with many wanting him to be banned forever, to never return to the league. The Head Office did not change it's punishment nor will we in the future because we believe the decision to be fair. While Er is currently gone for a season (and who knows, maybe forever?), I don't have any personal opinions about the man. I don't fucking hate him like many people do, yeah he's a cheater and he used his position of power for bad. But have a look at any other sim league and see what sort of fucked up shit you've got to do to get banned. We stand by the judgement that the punishment was fair.

Also anybody that thinks the head office is lazy can go get fucked. Each of us spend up to 4-5 hours a day doing virtual babysitting as well as trying to balance the league issues. If we were lazy we wouldn't have taken this job in the first place, nor would we put up with the constant shit stirring or abuse. You can print that.

Losing a majority of players in a mass exodus of retirements is not great. Not for the team, not for the league. NSFL is holding on barely with shaky knees. Another blow like that can end this League and crumble down any remaining players morale. Luckily there are news that some of the players that retired are coming back to allow their players to not be retired but rather they just go inactive. I don't know if there is a true solution for this. The players that left seemed to be angry at a lot of things that were happening in this league and I don't think I can blame them but I can blame their action on how they handled it. Las Vegas who started in bad terms to start with now looks to be in serious trouble as they look at their present and future. It is unfortunate for both how management handled the team and how the players have reacted.

In a surprise announcement made during the off-season it was found that the 3 time most dedicated member of the league award, was a lot more dedicated as ErMurazor had not one, but six multis. Now all six of those multis are retired, and the 2 time defensive player of the year, 1 time outstanding player of the year, 2 time MVP and 3 time DL of the year is missing all of S5. And to make things a lot worse? All seven players played on the Outlaws, who won the first 3 championships, and those championships will forever have an asterisk beside them. To add onto missing Jayce Tuck, 2 time winner of the OL of the year Tim Pest. Now not only do the immediate retirement of those 6 players greatly change the Outlaws, it also greatly changes the league, as S5 is missing one of the best players in the early part of the league's history, but theirs now the 6 other top players are now gone from the league, including ones who are pro bowlers or former award winner.

#MultiGate is arguably the biggest controversy in league history. In one off-season the OP powerhouse known as the Outlaws have potentially fallen apart. I still stand by the sentiment that the sheer scope of this whole thing; the quality, the quantity, the effort in general, etc, was incredibly impressive. That said, having like, half your team all secretly being the same guy obviously tarnishes your legacy just a bit. So now, for the first time, there's a legitimate question about where the Outlaws will place this season. There will certainly be a downfall of some sort, but at what magnitude? Losing so many players would be incredibly impactful to any team, but at the same time, this is a team that's been so good for so long that it's hard to imagine them being bad. Will Arizona move past this without a hiccup and be dominant again? Will they take a backseat to the Otters? Maybe miss the playoffs entirely? I don't think anyone knows for sure, but this is certainly one story worth monitoring throughout the season.

The greatest shock in the Arizona Outlaws recent scandal is that none of us noticed it sooner. This is a team that had one guy playing as many as 9 positions, many of them at the same time. They basically had the guy from the movie Split out there and won three championships with him. People have suggested putting an asterisk next to those championships, and maybe we should. If you ask me it should be an asterisk denoting "Holy shit, a single player played 6-9 positions on this team". Still, what he did was against league policy and for that his suspension is righteous. Now the Outlaws are left trying to fill in those holes. Will they be even better now that they actually have the right number of players out on the field? Or will they suffer because Tuck had been doing so much for so long? Time will tell, but it's not often that the league's most shocking off-season story creates its most intriguing story going into the next season.

The recent controversies have had immediate and sweeping changes. About half of the management of the league is brand new, as are several HO members, which is not a coincidence. Rules have been created or expanded. Entire team structures and lineups have changed drastically. The DSFL practically fell apart and had to be rebuilt from scratch.

They key to all this is that one day this offseason may be seen not as a terrible series of events, but as the beginning of the next phase of prosperity for the league. Fresh blood moved to a series of important positions and entire new wings were created to ensure things ran better than before. The DSFL now has a stronger leadership structure and it's own set of rules separate form the NSFL. There now exists a department whose sole function is to extensively test the game engine to make sure we're using our positions and builds properly. We don't have one simmer anymore. We're building an entire group. Recruitment has been expanded into it's own department. Over and over we see new developments that stemmed directly or indirectly from all the recent controversy. Developments that will actually make the league stronger, better run, and built to grow more smoothly.
