Everyone knows that the Orange County Otters are the strong favorites to repeat this season. Everyone knows the huge steps backwards the Arizona Outlaws took in the off season. So, by default, the San Jose Sabercats are the likely benefactor to the collapse of the once prolific powerhouse. But what will shock everyone is the level to which the Sabercats will rise. it is a bold statement to make but it needs to be made. The Sabercats will post the 2nd best record in the NSFL. They will do this off of the MVP quality season of Chris Orosz and their duo of WRs, Mayran Jackson and Shane Weston. Running Back Darren Smallwood, aka Checkers, will be playing mind games with opposing defenses as he becomes the NSFL's second best rusher. The offense will be second best only to division rivals, Orange County. When the Sabercats make their first ever playoff appearance, they will go toe to toe with the Otters and while I feel they may fall short of the W, they'll prove to everyone that they're going to be contenders in the division for years to come. It is going to take the Legion and the Outlaws quite a while before they can think about rejoining the playoff conversation. It isn't unfathomable that in a matter of 2 seasons, we could be talking about the Ultimus making a home in the Bay area.
