1. The one thing I truly want added to the league is the “TPE Mulitplier Bonus” added to all of the DSFL Rookies. Hear me out here. The worst thing about the NSFL is that the draft gives us ZERO draft studs. In the NFL, a “bad team’s” fortunes can turn around much more quickly because they get a stud in the draft. For instance, the Houston Texans found DeShaun Watson this year, and it changed the course of the franchise. He made them REALLY GOOD. They’d have been a playoff team for sure if he didn’t get hurt. NSFL doesn’t have that. This season, sure, Crush, Bly and a few others were studs (see: crazy TPE guys) but we’re still restricted to lower TPE than those in the league (for the most part) and we’ll NEVER catch them as long as they update. There has to be a way to get rookies more TPE to help them compete and a way to get a later round pick to be a surprise “diamond in the rough” that we see happen all of the time in the NFL but not here as much, if at all. Even when you play madden there’s a chance you can get a 4th rounder that’s MUCH better than you thought.
My interesting way of doing this is as follows: For a rookie in the DSFL, (we send everyone there for one year, regardless) for every task they do, they’re awarded a “Rookie Multiplier”. PT, Weekly Training, Activity Check all count. It rewards them for being active and even promotes early activity. So lets just say that by the draft, “Player X” earns 8 Rookie Multipliers along the way. The draft happens, and we’ll say that this player wasn’t CRAZY active but has been around, so he goes in the late second round. After the draft, live on twitch, HO/the commissioner will personally stream them rolling 2 dice for each player. So as we work our way down the draft board, we get to Player X. The dice are rolled. It comes up 10. We know that Player X has 8 Rookie mulitpliers from the season so (10 x 8 = 80) they’re awarded 80 TPE to add to their player.
This does a few things: first, it has the incredible “fun” factor for seeing who gets what. Like, using myself as an example, I had about 15 multipliers. That gives me the potential to have had anywhere from 30 – 180 TPE won. Now, I know you’re saying “HOLY SHIT YOU COULDVE GOTTEN 180 TPE WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS STUPID”, but hear me out. First off, I’d need to have gotten a 12 rolled for me. And if someone did get a ton of TPE? THAT’S THE POINT. To help new players literally change franchises asap. Sometimes, the best get better, sure, (like in real life…fuck New England) but other times new teams can emerge with a diamond in the rough. Secondly, it takes a fringe player like “Player X” who maybe wasn’t thrilled with falling behind in the league and all of a sudden they get a bunch of TPE to play with and maybe we just saved someone from going inactive. HO controls the dice rolls so there will be no foul play since it’ll be streamed live. First rounders still matter because they’re the most active guys, but we instantly create those potential 3rd/4th round gems that the NFL has. Plus, because the first rounders are usually the most active, the third guys who didn’t do as much all season most likely won’t surpass them in TPE from this. But it makes ALL of the rookies as a whole much better for the big leagues. We just saw a team “mass retire” because they’ll never catch up in TPE to the good teams. This can help with that ideology as well. Hopefully, @sapp2013 and @TheMemeMaestro will present this idea during the HO summit. (864)
2. Something I don’t like in the league is the look of the website. I think the white makes it look too bland. I’d really like something that pops a bit more. Maybe a better logo? I think we need some new branding (keeping the NSFL name). There were definitely some low points the league just went through, and I think a new look and a fresh coat of paint for us could really be a nice message that we’re moving forward and looking away from the “sins of the past”. I know this is all cosmetic and stuff, but I really feel like something small like this is enough of a mental change that might do some good. (119)
3. What I currently like is how we stream the sims. I know that our sim engine isn’t exactly a world beater, but the absolute coolest thing we have is being able to watch our games. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again: I never knew how much fun I’d have watching little dots zip around on my computer screen. It’s a ton of fun and it makes our league unique. It should be a selling point for when we get new members. I don’t know if there’s a way to really enhance the experience there, but if we DO ever change to a different sim engine, lets hope it still has this feature. (117)
