(S5) - PT 4 - Underrated

A player that I’d like to call particular attention to this year is my new teammate Ricardo Sandoval. He’s just come over from Baltimore where he was a standout, but he’s bound to be a little forgotten in the mess that is our Colorado Yeti. Still, the Yeti have boasted a decent run defense, and much of that is due to both of the Sandoval brothers. I don’t want Ricardo to be forgotten, even if our team only puts up one or two wins this year. He deserves to be kept in the conversation with other defensive line greats. In fact, he’s outperforming perennial best DT in the league Dan Miller so far. His ability to plug up the middle of the defense and get tough run stops with the occasional line penetration and TFL or sack has served the Yeti defense well (even if it doesn’t show in the win column).

Ricardo has put up pretty decent numbers this year, enough to get him tied for tenth in the league in sacks with five. He also has 31 tackles, 4 for a loss. These two numbers are good enough for top in the league among defensive tackles. And considering how tired the Yeti defense is being on the field so much, his impact through the first half of the year can’t be overstated.
