You're looking at it backwards. Stop looking at the scale and start thinking about the seasons. At what point do you think a player should stop being an asset and start being a liability to his team? I designed this around 10 or 11 seasons max for a player's career and built an appropriate system around that. Much softer and it instantly adds 2 more seasons onto a career.
The scale looks really brutal without actually analyzing it but when you consider that for a LB like me I can play at a pro-bowl level with only 300 TPE it's not bad at all.
