I think that Colorado Yeti CB Andre Bly Jr. (@sapp2013) should be in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Bly has been AMAZING for the Yeti. Besides being a locker room leader, he’s getting it done on the field too. In 12 games so far, Bly has recorded 63 tackles, good for 4th among cornerbacks. Bly Jr. has picked the ball off four times, which has him ranked 4th in the league (first among CBs) and he’s got 14 pass deflections, which is good for 4th in the league as well. He also returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown. As a returner, Bly has 2 kick return touchdowns. He’s been everything and more for Colorado, one of the few bright spots in what has been a dismal rebuilding season. In fact, its pretty fair to say that Bly Jr. should win the Defensive Rookie of the Year easily, and actually be in the running for Defensive Player of the Year because of his pretty sick numbers. He’s been constantly keeping the Yeti players upbeat and excited for the future in the locker room, which is important because sometimes all of this losing can really crush morale. I can personally say that he’s uplifted me more than a few times after a few bad games. He’s a very deserving candidate. (222)
