Ryan Sierra – DT – Orange County Otters
Season 5 PT 5 – Awards
This week’s point task asks for a discussion regarding the NSFL's potential award winner, either DSFL or NSFL. I’m choosing to write about the NSFL's defensive rookie of the year race. Being a rookie myself, I feel I am most qualified to address the top rookies on the defensive side of the ball. My draft classmates, Andre Bly Jr., Terrell Brister, Teegan Atwell, Igor Medved, Gregory Fletcher, Michael Tilman, Isaac Brown who have all made an impact for their teams. While statistically comparing the many defensive backs in the class, it is truly amazing to see the number of tackles accumulated by each ABJ, Terrell Brister, and Gregory Fletcher, not only do they support their team's ground defense, but they also defend the aerial attacks of their rivals. The pass deflections are important statistical data when analyzing the effectiveness of defensive backs, while interceptions are the holy grail of a DB's success. The sack carries more weight when stifling an opponents drive than a pass deflection. The act of reaching a quarterback who is being protected by five mammoth humans is degrading and drive killing while energizing the defense. There is only one rookie who can boast a league dominating, 14 sacks. He is I, I is him, slim with a tilted brim, Ryan Sierra. While tied with 3 other teammates for 2nd on his own team for sacks, Sierra would be the sack leader on every other team in the NSFL. No rookie has been statistically dominating as Sierra. Finally, adding to the legend of Ryan Sierra, he leads all DT’s in sacks, forced fumbles, and safeties. I, Ryan Sierra, am your Defensive Rookie of the Year.
